176 The Light in His Eyes

Lieutenant Walker sat in the carriage that was "clang" every few seconds, looking up at the dark clouds.

The air outside the window was a little stuffy, as if it was about to rain.

Second Lieutenant Walker rubbed his chest, but the faint pain was not relieved. Not long ago, on the battlefield, the shock wave that exploded when a magic shell landed a little far away was like a heavy punch hitting his chest, almost breaking his ribs. Of course, the most unlucky one was the friendly brothers at the point where the shell landed... half of the head of one of the unlucky guys fell in front of him.

When recalling that scene, Lieutenant Walker still couldn't help but tremble.

Compared with many colleagues and his subordinates, Lieutenant Walker was undoubtedly quite lucky. At least, he came back alive, and did not break his hands and feet, but he was hit with two shrapnel on his leg.

However, the veteran's words seemed to echo in his ears when he was holding him on the train:

"Don't underestimate this shrapnel. It's a problem for the wound to be infected. If you have bad luck, you might have to amputate your limbs too..."

Amputation, just thinking of this word, Lieutenant Walker was sweating coldly.

But the veteran has experienced many battles, and although he has never encountered such a great power duel, he is just a small-scale suppression of bandits, but his experience of real guns and real ammunition cannot be underestimated. People say that it is very likely to be amputated, which is naturally... enough to scare the young lieutenant to fear.

Looking back now, Lieutenant Walker had to admit that before he stepped onto the battlefield, the war he had expected seemed to be in two completely different shapes from reality.

Military academy students who urgently graduated temporarily with him have regarded this battle as an excellent opportunity.

Just a few days ago, when he was ordered to receive the airship, he was still looking forward to the smoke of the battlefield; however, at this moment, when he recalled the bloody smell in the smoke, he couldn't help but want to vomit.

All his small troops were dispersed and nearly half of the soldiers were sacrificed, but he didn't even see the enemy anywhere...

Finally, the train arrived at the station, the North Station of Hisasa City.

After the train stopped, Lieutenant Walker got off the train dejectedly with other low-level officers around him. However, due to the injuries on his legs, his steps were much slower than others, and he felt a little staggering.

Following the sign of "Wrecked Going Here", Lieutenant Walker limped to the military medical office. The minor wounded people who retreated from the front line would come to this place to deal with the wounds, and he was of course no exception.

This is a row of temporary tents. Many military doctors sit in the tents to treat the wounded to make sure that the wounded should have surgery immediately, or take some medicine to find a place to recuperate.

After more than ten minutes of queue, Lieutenant Walker finally walked into one of the tents and came to the military doctor.

However, the military doctor just tore open his pants and took a look, and said confidently: "You want to amputate your limbs."

Lieutenant Walker was struck by lightning: "How is that possible!"

The military doctor explained calmly: "You look at this place yourself. The infection has been inflamed and it is very serious. Our sulfonamide was used up yesterday and cannot be treated, so you either wait for death or amputation."

Second Ensign Walker's face turned pale, his lips were slightly moved, and he couldn't speak.

The military doctor had obviously seen this kind of reaction for a long time and waved his hand: "You can go out and think about it and think about it slowly. Anyway, no one forced you to have an amputation. But no matter how hesitated, don't exceed tonight, do you understand?"

Another injured officer waiting behind squeezed over and pushed him away.

After a moment of silence, Lieutenant Walker walked out of the military doctor's tent with an extremely confused expression.

While walking, the pain in the injury to his right leg became not annoying at all, but instead made him feel a little reluctant.

It was almost dusk, but the sky was filled with dark clouds, making people unable to see the golden light of the setting sun, and it seemed even more dim. The noise around were all soldiers in military uniforms, including subordinate officers and ordinary soldiers. Only a small part of the wounded, but almost all of them were filled with frustration.

Second Lieutenant Walker stood by the roadside, watching the front of the train gushing out of thick smoke, pulling the empty carriage away.

Perhaps, after the load is full again, these cars will bring another group of people to the battlefield, right?

But no matter what, it has nothing to do with someone with disabilities.

Lieutenant Walker sat on the ground, holding his right leg, and moved the corners of his mouth, unable to help sobbing silently.

At this moment, a girl's voice sounded: "Are you... that second lieutenant?"

Second Lieutenant Walker raised his head and wiped the tears from his eyes with the back of his hand, before he could see clearly that a girl was standing on the side of the road looking down at him.

A beautiful girl with long white hair and blue eyes, her delicate face looks quite familiar and seems to have seen it somewhere, but the lieutenant at this time really had no intention of recalling it.

"Who are you?" he asked in a hoarse voice.

The girl did not answer him, but looked at his right leg and asked, "Are you injured?"

Ensign Walker nodded.

The girl turned her head and looked at the other young man behind her: "Do you want to try it here?"

The young man with dark hair shrugged: "Whatever you want, I think it's OK."

"All right."

As soon as the girl finished speaking, a light shone on her right hand, making it impossible to see what was in that hand. But it was precisely because of this silver light that many soldiers around turned their eyes to this side.

The silver-lighted hand pressed on the wound on the lieutenant's right leg.

First there was a warm feeling, and then, Lieutenant Walker noticed that a needle seemed to pierce his skin. He subconsciously wanted to avoid it, but raised his face and looked at the girl, and he suddenly realized where he had seen her before - the requisitioned airship, who was a passenger on the boat.

It turns out that this girl is a magician?

The light emitted from the palm of your hand alone is enough to prove his identity as a magician. So, is it a magician who is casting healing magic on himself?

After realizing this, Lieutenant Walker held his breath and naturally did not dare to neglect, let alone avoid or resist.

In just a few breaths, the light disappeared.

At this time, both the lieutenant sitting there and the other soldiers around could see clearly that the girl did not hold anything in her right hand, but was empty-handed.

The girl clapped her hands and smiled and said, "Don't go to amputate your limbs. In a few hours, we will go to the military doctor to see it."

Second Lieutenant Walker nodded blankly.

Anyway, it is impossible to be worse than amputation in any case. Let’s see if a miracle will be born in the magician’s hands, isn’t it?
