seventy , noise and agitation

The paper is in English, but for real researchers, there is no language barrier.

Mr. Ge was like a boy in his first love who saw his sweetheart, and his whole body and mind were trapped in. He saw his body leaning forward greatly, his eyes not blinking, staring firmly at the words on the screen, frowning slightly, and obviously his brain was nervous and quick to read, think, and analyze.

This reminded Jiang Shuiyuan of Emperor Alexander the Great.

It is said that when Alexander the Great was young, every time he heard his father, Philip II, the Macedonian king, would cry and be frustrated: "Didn't my father leave a little land for me to conquer?" Perhaps at this moment, Mr. Ge also had the same distress and depression?

Bai Zhicheng is an ordinary middle-aged man in his forties. He has no other more prominent features except for thick black-framed glasses and occasionally wise light. He stood on the podium and said self-mockingly: "When I first got the paper this morning, I couldn't wait to thank Sir Atya for his courage to challenge the problems that have troubled me for a long time. Secondly, I have to thank him for his writing of the paper very short! If he wanted to write four papers in one breath like the mud-boom mathematician Wangyue Shinichi solved the ABC conjecture, the article was a total of five or six hundred pages, and not many people could understand it in five or six years. Today, I will be making a big ugly when I stand here!"

The so-called "listen to the gong and listen to the sound, listen to the sound." When Bai Zhicheng mentioned Atya, he said "the courage to challenge" rather than "successfully cracked". Jiang Shuiyuan knew that he was not optimistic about Atya's paper.

Zhang Jin's English is a little worse, and he struggled to read. From time to time, he had to copy the words he didn't know or the knowledge points he didn't understand in his notebook, and planned to take them back and think about it slowly. Mr. Ge couldn't care about so many things. After scanning the page, he shouted loudly: "Come on the next page!"

Bai Zhicheng was a little embarrassed: "It seems that I have too much nonsense. Everyone is obviously impatient. Next, we will go straight to the topic! The main text of Sir Atiya's thesis has five parts, and the first part is the introduction you see now, that is, the introduction. From this part, we can see that Sir Atiya's idea is to understand the fine structure constant α in quantum mechanics and use the mathematical methods developed in this process to solve the Riemann conjecture. But we know that the fine structure constant α is an important dimensionless number in physics, representing the ratio of the speed of electrons on the first Bohr orbit to the speed of light in a vacuum. A series of experiments today have shown that α is growing and changing, although the rate of change is very small. But Sir Atiya directly argues that α is fixed, which makes me very puzzled."

Bai Zhicheng then changed the subject: "Of course, Sir Atiya is also very proficient in physics. His Atiya-Singer index theorem and the k theory developed together with German topologist Size Bruch are all related to physics. So he argued that the fine structure constant α is fixed, and he may have unique insights, but this requires time to argue."

Zhang Jin was confused when he heard this: "This, this is still involved, it involves physics?"

Mr. Ge hummed and said: "I haven't heard that mathematics and physics are inseparable? There is a saying that all physics problems are ultimately mathematical problems. For example, the famous Yang-Milles gauge field existence and mass interval assumptions are the blame for us. You will know that when you enter university in the future, like "Mathematical Physics Methods" and "University Physics" are all compulsory courses in the Department of Mathematics. Of course, if you want to go further, it is best to take a double degree in physics major."

Zhang Jin nodded and expressed his suggestion to receive it.

Mr. Ge glanced at the Shuiyuan of Jiang: "Mandarin, the double degree of singing is useless!"

"..." Jiang Shuiyuan's face was innocent: Am I still being shot while lying down?

Bai Zhicheng finally turned to the second page, which attracted Mr. Ge's attention: "The following is the second part. Sir Atiya introduced a new function todd function. Interestingly, todd is Sir Atiya's mentor, and the todd function is also the key to the entire proof, but Sir Atiya did not describe this weak analytical function in detail, and whether this function exists is also an important question..."

Under Bai Zhicheng's interpretation, Jiang Shuiyuan quickly finished browsing Atya's proof.

Of course, even without Bai Zhicheng's interpretation, Jiang Shuiyuan would intuitively feel that Atiya's proof is unreliable: the paper is only five pages, and the proof is only 15 lines. This can prove the unique problem that has plagued the academic community for more than a hundred years?

It’s simply not like using bean bags as dry food!

Subsequently, Su Biqing, a professor in the Department of Mathematics at Peking Normal University, also expressed his pessimistic view: "We know that for rigorous academic research, proving mathematical conjectures ultimately only depends on logic and derivation, rather than who claims to prove what they have proved first. In this preprint of Sir Atya's thesis, we did not see the proof of the strictness theorem that meets the requirements of mathematical papers, and did not even use any properties of the zeta function, which is very critical in the Riemann conjecture. So in my opinion, this is not a serious attempt, and it is not even a mistake."

Yuan Li, a researcher at the Beijing Computational Science Center, and Yi Yiping, associate professor of the Department of Mathematics at Jingshi University, also expressed dissatisfaction: "I think scholars who engage in scientific research should find industry experts to review and verify before claiming that they have solved a major problem. This is the norm. However, I believe that Sir Atiya did not do this. However, this is also a normal state. Many great mathematicians will claim that they have proved a certain proposition in their later years, but ultimately fail to succeed. This does not damage their previous achievements, and we don't have to blame them too hard. After all, there are few days left in the twilight years, and it is also normal for human beings to hope that they can leave traces in history."

Because the paper is short enough, the seminar is much shorter.

Finally, Hui Chengze summarized the statement and said: "Mathematics has always been the most rigorous science, and there is no sand in it. Even if you have written a 500-page or a 1,000-page paper, you only need one line of error to deny your efforts. Fortunately, what we see now is just a preprint of Sir Atyia's proof paper. In the future, we will urge, wait for more details of this paper, and then verify every step in it. If the evidence is correct, then pay the highest respect to him. He will be the greatest mathematician of the century, no one! Even if it is incorrect, it will make more mathematicians and mathematics enthusiasts pay attention to the Riemann conjecture and lay the foundation for a complete solution in the future."

At the end of the seminar, many people seemed to be relieved, including Mr. Ge and Zhang Jin.

Mr. Ge finally had the mood to cook Jiang Shuiyuan: "It's only been a few days in the final of the Olympic Mathematical Olympiad. How are you preparing? Have you read all the books you gave you? Have you done all the questions you gave you?"
