Chapter 2104: Three Caves of Cunning Rabbit
The loud sound of the Dengwen drum finally stopped, but the echoes were still coming from a distance, and the sounds of the twelve huge Dengwen drums were not so easy to dissipate.
The longer people often climb the drums and reverberate, the greater the grievances in the case will be, which has become the consensus among the people of Shendu City.
"The drums stopped..."
On the edge of the Xicheng Water and Land Dojo, there were about a dozen people sitting in the clean room and muttering. Around them were a large group of monks holding wooden fish and constantly tapping.
The water and land dojo in Xicheng is a famous place for practice in Shendu City. This is a place specially established by Peking Prefecture to facilitate the practice of various families in the city. It is considered a public land.
The Water and Land Dojo refers to the location of the Water and Land Dharma Assembly. At present, a grand Water and Land Dharma Assembly is being held in Xicheng to save innocent souls who died in the turmoil of Shendu City......
The Water and Land Dharma Assembly originated from Emperor Wu of Liang during the Southern and Northern Dynasties. After the enrichment of the Tantric Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty, it has been spread to the Song Dynasty and has been able to continue to develop. Even though Zhao Zhen attacked Buddhism, he still maintained the existence of the Water and Land Dharma Assembly and its momentum remained unabated.
The water and land Dharma Assembly is offered to all Buddhas and sages in the ten directions without the basis of offering vegetarian food to save all sentient beings in the six realms, and set up a wide altar so that the sentient beings who are in the meeting can go to each altar to listen to the sutras and hear the Dharma. Therefore, the sentient beings offered to the Dharma Assembly are quite wide, so they gather many incredible and extraordinary merits to eliminate disasters and save the upper and lower levels.
The water and land Dharma Assembly was particularly popular in the Song Dynasty, almost spreading across the country, especially becoming a ritual of salvation held by the government and the public after the war. Zhao Zhen did not care at first. After all, there is nothing wrong with reliving the heroic spirits and souls of the soldiers who died in battle. Besides, it would be a great good thing to comfort the families of the soldiers who died in battle?
But who would have thought that the largest Xicheng Water and Land Dojo in Shendu City would become a new gathering place for interest groups.
Indeed, merchants like to offer sacrifices to Buddha the most. Merchants believe in Buddhism don’t know when, but there are only a few points. From a psychological perspective, the business world is like a battlefield, and things are impermanent. There are many losses caused by factors such as current situation and natural environment, which makes merchants lose everything overnight.
Although the Song Dynasty has fewer external risks today, the fierce market competition is a war without gunpowder. Therefore, in the face of many uncertain factors, merchants hope to believe in Buddhism and hope that their careers will be in good luck and accumulate merits in exchange for their careers to rise steadily.
There seems to be a tacit understanding between Buddhism and merchants. What the merchants pray for is exactly the opposite, and this opposite thing is exactly what merchants pursue, which seems to be a harmonious contradiction.
The main reason is that merchants have been materially satisfied, but their psychological level needs comfort. Therefore, Buddhist things allow them to enjoy the current wealth with peace of mind, because Buddhism emphasizes cause and effect, causes in previous lives, and results in this life. The reason why merchants can live a wealthier life that is superior to others was caused by accumulating virtue and doing good deeds in the previous life. This explanation greatly satisfys the vanity and psychological comfort in the hearts of merchants.
Similarly, these merchants will accumulate virtue and do good deeds, hoping to live a good life in the next life. How to accumulate virtue and do good deeds? Of course, they do good deeds, but good deeds can no longer satisfy the psychology of these wealthy merchants. At this time, donating money to Buddhism and becoming incense money is the only choice.
Therefore, the relationship between merchants and Buddhism is quite close. Of course, Buddhism hopes that merchants will get better and better, so that the incense will be more and more money will be more popular. At this time, the smart merchants began to ask for some "things" from Buddhism...
Fame is very important to them. Sometimes the money these merchants earn is not all right, and ill-gotten wealth can be accepted in front of them. As long as the rules are not broken, who can do what?
Shopping malls are like battlefields, and the attacks between each other have never stopped. The battlefield without gunpowder is even more bloody, and there are many people who pay the price or even live for it.
So the successful wealthy merchants began to ask for the Buddhist sect they had always worshipped, and the things they asked for happened to be what the Buddhist sect owns... promote their reputation!
All wealthy businessmen need is fame, which is not only satisfying their vanity, but also a great benefit to their business behavior.
A certain eminent monk praised a certain merchant and a certain merchant in public, so the goods of this merchant could be sold out at an extremely fast speed. With the momentum of the merchant, a chain effect will soon be formed.
More and more people are optimistic about this business, and more and more things are sold by merchants. As long as the quality remains unchanged, the reputation will only get better and better, and finally form a monopoly trend.
In Zhao Zhen's opinion, this is a commercial method, and nothing is good. Those monks are just the earliest brand spokespersons. There is no way to convict this thing. There is only one thing to be done. Once there is a problem with the thing sold by the company and it is to be punished, the eminent monks and masters who are promoted to it must also be punished together.
On the one hand, such means restrain Buddhism, and on the other hand, they bind Buddhism and merchants more closely together.
I'm afraid even Zhao Zhen didn't expect what would happen after the Buddhists and merchants joined forces. Some of the Buddhists have become beneficiaries of interest groups.
So Xicheng, the largest water and land temple belonging to Baiyun Temple, became a place of friendship between wealthy merchants and giants. While they were "retreat" here, chanting scriptures and performing rituals, they discussed how to divide the interests in the market, how to provoke a war between the Song Dynasty and Tubo, and how to earn more benefits from it.
This is already a normal state. There are three caves in the cunning rabbit, and one pavilion is certainly not the basis for these fertility.
This loose organization without even a name can meet in one place, and all parties can exchange interests in their hands as quickly as possible and implement deployment and arrangements.
The seemingly loose organization actually has a very clear division of labor. Each company has its own fields of expertise, some are good at finding news, some are good at bribery, some are good at managing relationships, and all parties are very capable.
Such an organization is the most difficult to break because in a sense there is no such organization.
Until now, the people of the Black Hand and the Imperial City Department were not sure whether the list they handed over to Zhao Zhen was correct, because at the beginning, there was some direct evidence when they found these robberies, but soon these people seemed to be unable to grasp them at all.
Their gathering and dispersion is very fast and extremely secret, and it is almost difficult to grasp. The same is true for today's water and land conference.
What a good reputation, a group of rich people gathered here to perform a ceremony for innocent people who died unjustly. This is accumulating virtue and doing good deeds, and no one would doubt it at all.
