Chapter 17 Take the position, you are the company commander

From a gossipy female villager, Lin Hua knew the reason why Vasily did not appear in the battle. But he had no intention of blaming the other party. He knew very well that fear of death was human instinct. If he had been with Vasily, he might have hid in the house and never came out. If Vasily had not called his superiors for help, he would have been completely destroyed. In this way, he should have thanked him.

When Lin Hua was taking his comrades to bury his comrades' sacrifice, a motorcycle drove over and stopped not far away. The motorcycle rider wearing windshield sunglasses asked loudly at the busy soldiers: "Who is Sergeant Sokov?"

Lin Hua, who was filling the pit, suddenly heard someone calling him, and quickly stopped the work, handed the shovel to Selyosha beside him, and walked towards the motorcycle: "I am Sokov, is there anything wrong?"

The motorcycle rider took out a folded note from his pocket and handed it to Lin Hua, and said, "This is the order given to you by the division headquarters!" After saying this, he raised his hand and saluted Lin Hua, drove the motorcycle and turned around and left.

Andre came over and asked curiously: "Comrade Platoon Leader, how could the division headquarters give you an order directly?"

After Lin Hua quickly browsed the contents of the telegram, he handed the telegram to Andre: "The division headquarters ordered our platoon to immediately arrive at the command post of the 1077th Regiment east of Krukovo City and go there to accept the combat mission!"

After reading the contents of the telegram, Andre couldn't help frowning. He looked up at Lin Hua and asked, "Comrade Platoon Commander, will we be arranged to fight in Kliukovo next?"

"I think this is for sure. Since we have been assigned to the command of the 8th Guard Division, it will be a matter of time before we go to the city to participate in the battle." Lin Hua waved his hand: "Comrade Sergeant, gather all the soldiers."

With Andre's command, the soldiers who had just finished busy quickly stood in a row. Lin Hua walked to the end of the queue and pulled Asia out: "Asia, you won't go with us this time."

"Why?" Asia asked in confusion: "I am also a member of the platoon, why can't I go with you?"

Lin Hua knew that when he went to the city to participate in the battle here, the battle would be extremely cruel. Whether anyone in the platoon could survive is an unknown number, so there was no need to let Asia take risks. After hearing Asia's problem, he whispered to the barn in the distance: "Stay stay and take care of the wounded."

"Comrade Platoon Leader," Asia was also a smart girl. She guessed that Lin Hua would keep her because she didn't want to be in danger, but she didn't want to leave her comrades like this, so she begged Lin Hua: "Please let me fight with you!"

"No," Lin Hua said firmly: "Your task is to stay and take care of the wounded, do you understand?"

"I understand!" Asia replied in a low voice, then turned around and walked slowly towards the barn.

Lin Hua took his platoon and marched to the east of Krukovo City. He asked several people in a row before finding the regiment command post.

Seeing Lin Hua walk into the command post, a lieutenant colonel without a military cap immediately came over and asked first: "You are Corporal Sokov, I am Lieutenant Colonel Xie Dulin!"

Lin Hua hurriedly raised his hand to salute Xie Dulin. When he was reporting to him in accordance with the regulations, he was stopped by the other party: "Comrade Sokov, after several days of fighting, our regiment reduced its troops very well, so he had to transfer the garrison platoons with no combat effectiveness. The task of your platoon is..."

When Lieutenant Colonel Xie Dulin assigned the task, Lin Hua, who was standing next to him, was a little amused. He did not expect that the other party actually thought that his troops were not combat-capable. If the troops were not tight, they would not have allowed them to participate in the war.

Just as he was thinking about how to perform well in this battle, a young major came in from outside. He came straight to Xie Dulin, raised his hand to salute, and spoke, "Comrade Commander, the German barricades are too strong. I think it's better to ask the tank troops to cooperate with our attack!"

After hearing this, Xie Dulin did not express his opinion, but asked back: "Where is the current location of your camp?"

"My battalion has advanced to Gogol Street," the major pointed to the Kleukovo city map on the table and said to Shedulin: "After the battle, the barricades at the east entrance of the street have been occupied by us. The Germans who stood in the barricades in the middle section of the street blocked the entire street with machine guns. The two charges we organized failed and lost a company of troops."

After the major finished speaking, he suddenly noticed Lin Hua, who was lying on his head next to him, and asked Xie Dulin curiously: "Comrade Commander, who is he and what are he doing here?"

"Major, I'll introduce it to you." Xie Dulin pointed at Lin Hua and said to the major: "This is Sergeant Sokov, the platoon leader of the garrison platoon in Klukovo village. I see that your battalion has lost more troops in the battle, so he will be transferred to strengthen you."

After the major looked Lin Hua up and down, he asked coldly: "Comrade Sergeant, have you ever fought a war?"

"Yes, Major." After hearing the major's question, Lin Hua quickly straightened his body and replied: "I have participated in two small-scale battles, once to defend Shimki; and another time," he couldn't help but hesitate for a moment when he said this, and finally said with a gritty bullet, "It was in the village of Krukovo last night, fighting the enemy who attacked him."

Lieutenant Colonel Xie Dulin heard Lin Hua say that he had fought with the German army last night, and couldn't help but interrupt and asked, "Comrade Sergeant, how many people are left in your platoon?"

"Even me, there are twelve people."

"There are only twelve people," the major smiled bitterly and said to Xie Dulin with a wry smile: "Comrade Commander, there are too few. Before they could rush to the barricade, the German machine guns could kill them all."

Just now, when the major was introducing the situation of the troops to Xie Dulin, Lin Hua could hear clearly that the battalion's attack on the barricades in the middle of the street failed because of the dense formation and charge in the street. In fact, they could enter the buildings on both sides, blow the walls through, and approach the enemy barricades indoors, instead of silly huddling on the street as a target for German machine guns.

Now that I heard that the major actually treated them as cannon fodder, I couldn't help but say to Xie Dulin: "Report to the regiment commander, in fact, it is not difficult to seize the barricades in the middle of the street. I can complete this task successfully by leading the soldiers of the garrison platoon."

"What, Comrade Sergeant, do you know what you are talking about?" After Lin Hua finished speaking, before Xie Dulin could speak, the major said in a contemptuous tone: "We sacrificed a fortification that we had not even taken down. You can take it down with just twelve people?" He turned to Xie Dulin and said: "Comrade Commander, is this soldier having a problem with his brain? He actually wanted to take down the enemy's position with more than a dozen people..."

Before the major finished speaking, Du Lin raised his hand to interrupt the words behind him, looked at Lin Hua and asked, "Comrade Sokov, can you really take down the barricades in the middle of the street?"

"Yes, two commanders." Lin Hua saw Xie Dulin's eyes full of questions when he looked at him. He knew that this was his chance to show his performance, so he quickly said in a positive tone: "As long as we can equip us with enough grenades, I will be sure to take down the barricade fortifications!"
