Chapter 50 Reorganization

In the next two days, five guerrillas arrived one after another. The large number of guerrillas had hundreds of people; the small number of people had only a dozen people. However, they had one common characteristic, that is, when the captain reported to Lin Hua, they all had a bitter face, as if Lin Hua had owed them money and had not paid back.

When Saviev came on the first day, he also looked like this in front of Lin Hua. Later, when Lin Hua asked him, he realized that the guerrillas had received an order from the 16th Army to harass the enemies who retreated to the Volokramsk area. Unexpectedly, when the troops were searching for the whereabouts of the fleeing enemy, their superiors issued a new order to cooperate with Istrians to collect materials discarded by the German army on the road. When they learned that the superiors asked themselves to be porters, how could the guerrilla leaders be happy?

After understanding what the guerrilla captains were thinking, Lin Hua had a corresponding solution. He found that all the guerrillas had poor equipment, so after the guerrilla captains reported to him, he announced that they would replace German equipment for them. Through this measure, he immediately obtained the recognition of all the guerrilla captains, and the orders issued could also be successfully conveyed to each guerrilla member.

While Lin Hua was leading the troops to collect materials, troops drove along the road towards Volokramsk. Seeing the troops heading to the front line, Yakup said enviously: "Comrade Lieutenant, we have been here for three or four days. I wonder when will the superiors send us in?"

"Don't worry, comrade Captain." Lin Hua turned his head and looked at Yakupp, and said with a smile: "We will not finish the battle with the Germans in a hurry. The superiors will sooner or later send us to the front line."

When Saviev passed by here, he happened to hear the conversation between Lin Hua and Yakup, and then walked over and asked Lin Hua curiously: "Comrade Lieutenant, if I don't understand it wrong, do you think the war between the Germans and us will last for a long time?"

"That's right, that's it." Lin Hua nodded and replied: "Since the day before yesterday, troops have passed by us one after another and rushed toward the direction of Volokramsk. But until today, we have not heard of the occupied cities, which proves that the Germans' resistance is very tenacious, and the attack launched by our army has not achieved any ideal results for the time being..."

If Lin Hua said this to Saviev in the early stages of the war, it might have attracted the other party’s rebuttal, or even said it was a defeatist argument, and he dared to think that the enemy’s strength was stronger than our army, etc. However, after more than half a year of arduous and outstanding battles, the Soviet military and civilians truly realized the strength of the German army and learned to use a correct attitude to analyze and understand the true strength between the enemy and us.

That afternoon, when another large army passed through the area where the Istria chain worked, a jeep stopped on the side of the road and a general came out of the car. After getting off the car, he asked the busy soldiers on the side of the road: "Comrade Warrior, where is your commander?"

When the soldier saw that it was a general who was asking him, he quickly straightened his body, searched around for a while, pointed to Lin Hua who was talking to Yakup not far away and said, "Comrade General, our commander Lieutenant Sokov is there!" After the general thanked the soldier, he led two guards to Lin Hua and the others.

Lin Hua was discussing the establishment of a new storage point for materials with Yakupu. When he heard someone approaching behind him, he quickly turned his head and looked at him. Seeing a general walking towards him with two soldiers, Lin Hua quickly turned around and ran forward, saluting the general: "Hello, Comrade General, I am Lieutenant Sokov, the commander of the Istria Company. Do you have any instructions?"

"Hello, Lieutenant Sokov." The general stretched out his hand to Lin Hua, and at the same time told himself that he said: "I am Major General Kazakov, the artillery commander of the army. I am here today to convey a command from my superiors."

"Please give orders, Comrade General." Lin Hua said respectfully.

"Comrade Commander ordered that all the guerrillas be merged into the Istria Company immediately and form a reinforcement company. After completing the reorganization, he rushed to Volokramsk to participate in the battle." After concisely conveying Rokosovsky's order, Kazakov asked: "Do you understand comrade Lieutenant?"

"I understand, Comrade General." Lin Hua nodded, then asked: "But Comrade General, our company is carrying out the task of collecting materials. Once we leave, who should we leave these materials to manage?"

"Isn't there an automatic sled company?" Kazakov raised his chin to Yakupu standing behind Lin Hua and said, "You just hand over the supplies to them for management. If I'm not wrong, my superiors will soon send comrades from the logistics force to take over the supplies."

Lin Hua turned his head and looked at Yakupu who was standing behind him. Yakupu quickly took two steps forward, stood side by side with Lin Hua, and replied: "Comrade General, I will definitely follow your order and take care of the collected materials."

After listening to Yakup's report, Kazakov nodded, looked at Lin Hua and asked, "Lieutenant Sokov, I wonder what technical equipment have you all collected?"

"We collected 126 artillery pieces of various caliber and supporting ammunition." Lin Hua thought that Kazakov was the artillery commander. Since he asked this, he must have wanted to know how many artillery pieces were collected. Therefore, when he reported the numbers, the first thing he mentioned was the artillery, followed by other materials: "31 tanks, 263 trucks..."

Although Kazakov had been mentally prepared for the massive weapons and equipment collected by Lin Hua and the others before coming here, he was still surprised when he heard the number Lin Hua said: "My God, there are so many technical equipment, even if it is used to arm a division, it is more than enough."

After Lin Hua reported to Kazakov, he paused for a moment, and then asked him for instructions: "Comrade General, are you allowed to assemble troops? We must complete the reorganization as soon as possible and then go to the battlefield."

"Go, lieutenant." Kazakov nodded at Lin Hua and said with a smile: "Good luck!"

After Lin Hua returned to the company and summoned everyone, he reorganized the troops according to his own ideas. The system of the first platoon remained unchanged, and Lieutenant Vanniya was still the platoon leader, and he was supplemented with forty soldiers; the second platoon and the third platoon merged into a new second platoon, and twenty soldiers were added, with Sergeant Andrei as the platoon leader; Saviev's guerrillas were adapted into a new third platoon, with Saviev as the platoon leader, and his political commissar Stepan as the deputy platoon leader; Lieutenant Vasily, the former third platoon leader, served as the platoon leader, with thirty soldiers under his command; a new machine gun platoon was also formed, equipped with eighteen German MG34 general machine guns, and Lin Hua temporarily served as the platoon leader.
