Chapter 750: The World Hee Hee (Part 2)
.When the Nine Lords decided to withdraw completely from the mines, the rich mine tyrants in Quzhou panicked. They knew that their strength was far worse than the three nests that were in a turbulent manner. What’s even more unfortunate is that the three nests are located in the remote area, with the sky high and the emperor far away, while Quzhou is located in the thoroughfare of the four provinces and the hinterland in the southeast. Without the support of those big families, the government would not be able to tolerate their behavior that was tantamount to rebellion.
But it is obvious that what happened in Quzhou is completely different from the nature of the Sanchao rebellion. The latter has a clear tendency to rebel, while the former is just because of conflicts of interests, so the policies of the two are completely different. The Sanchao should focus on suppression and supplementary care. Here, in order to avoid the intensification of the situation, force should not be used unless it is absolutely necessary, and the right medicine should be prescribed. Since it is a conflict of interests, use interests to resolve it.
So while secretly negotiating with the nine masters, Silence let Shao Fang negotiate with the local gentry with great fanfare. As long as the mine tyrants are eliminated and no longer armed against the government, he will give them the power to jointly open a mine with the government, and the income will be divided into proportion, and their rights and interests will be protected by the government during the contract period.
Being able to legally mine mining is the right of the local gentry in Quzhou to think about it day and night, but the Ming Dynasty restricts private mining. It was precisely because of Wang Bengu's severe crackdown on digging and theft that the miners riots led to the current situation. Now that Shen Mo gives some people such power, the original mentality of "not digging without digging" in their hearts suddenly changed, and they would regard the mine as their own. If anyone still wants to dig, they will definitely fight them desperately.
It is not difficult to accept this tempting proposal by the other party; the difficulty lies in how to accept it by one's own people, or rather, how to accept it like Wang Bengu, and for these ulterior motives that regard the laws of ancestors as the criterion, all minerals belong to the court and the emperor, how can they share it with local gentry?
This is why silently put this matter a year and had to wait until the year of external investigation to bring the top leaders of Zhejiang to Quzhou. In order to further pressure Wang Bengu and others, he was free all day long and deliberately made the other party upset... He knew that Wang Bengu would accept this plan only when his eyebrows were on fire and his inch was in chaos.
More deeply, he didn't want to get involved in this matter. After all, this method is not very glorious. Although it is not a question of drinking poison to quench thirst, it may attract material discussions and may cause trouble in the future. So he wants Wang Bengu to take the blame, and he will only bear the leadership responsibility at most, and the trouble will be much smaller.
As a result, in March, external investigation was imminent, and everyone below was urging a resolution. Master Jianli stood by and watched. Wang Bengu was worried and finally agreed to negotiate with the other party, but soon fell into a deadlock... The main dispute between the two sides was not about the division of interests, but about status. This was not surprising, because a clean official like Wang Bengu, who regarded money as dirt, would never be punished. But "status" is a big deal, and there must be no sloppy - it must not be transferred out. This is the bottom line that Wang Zhongcheng cannot break through.
Under Shen Mo's instruction, Shao Fang concocted the concept of "contracting" and divested the ownership and management rights of the mine. The former still belongs to the Ming Dynasty, but handing over the latter to local gentry is actually no different from the previous terms, just a different statement.
But this simple change gave Wang Bengu a reason to convince himself...or to deceive himself. When he was desperate, he finally nodded and ordered the Zhejiang Administrator to sign a contract agreement with several major families in Quzhou.
Of course, the other party also showed sincerity. They not only guaranteed that the mining income would be given priority to the state treasury, but also secretly gave the relevant officials some of the shares, so the agreement was smooth.
After the agreement was signed, the gentry immediately became energetic. They took the initiative to assist the government and persuaded the mine tyrants entrenched in the mines. The bandits said: "Three nests are much more powerful than you. Didn't Chen Jingluo destroy it if he said he would destroy it? This King of Hell can't afford to offend him. It's better to accept it first and recruit temporary help. Anyway, he always has to leave, and it's not too late to make trouble again.'
These mine bullies and bandits were supported by local gentry. They thought everyone was wholeheartedly devoted, but they didn't expect that they had sold themselves. The mine bullies and bandit leaders came to Quzhou City in groups and expressed their willingness to accept the recruitment and no longer cause harm to the countryside. Sure enough, they were warmly welcomed by the government. Not only did they say that they were delicious food, drink and serve, they also took out a list of official positions for them to choose. They told him that this was the official position that the governor had tried his best to free. The number was limited, first come first served, and there were no late ones.
The remaining people no longer doubted this time, fearing that they would not be able to get their official positions, so they all swarmed down the mountain. Almost overnight, Quzhou city was filled with bandit leaders who came to surrender. The government first treated them with courtesy, but within two days, Wang Zhongcheng suddenly attacked, grabbed all these people in prison, and killed some of them all and the extremely vicious people. Then he warned the rest of them harshly and let them go.
After coming out, I realized that hundreds of new mines had opened almost overnight. They woke up as if they were dreaming. It turned out that they had been abandoned by the gentry, but at this time, most of their subordinates went to the mine to work, and they had become lonely. What could they do?
There were also those who were jealous and wanted to take revenge on the gentry who betrayed them, but the other party was prepared for it. Before they could do it, they called him up and killed the person and threw it into the mine. There was no such number in the world. Quzhou Prefecture also turned a blind eye to such cases and put it aside first. Then after a long time, it was left alone.
Of course this is a later story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Is it over?" After inspecting the mines that had restored order, Wang Bengu still felt a little unreal. He really couldn't accept it. The nightmare that had been bothering him for a long time was solved in such a vague way in just a few months.
Hearing his question, Jiang Yi beside him smiled and bowed: "It's all up to Lord Zhongcheng to plan and command wisely. Now you will be promoted to Beijing and will be just around the corner."
"Haha..." Wang Bengu smiled when he heard this, glanced at Jiang Yi who was respectful and said: "As soon as I leave the position of governor, it will be yours. We are happy together."
"Thank you for the cultivation of Zhongcheng." Jiang Yi said happily: "Yi is so heartless that he cannot repay him."
The two laughed for a while, and Wang Bengu's expression gradually solidified, and he whispered: "But, why do I feel that I did nothing?" He said with a confused look on his face: "The silver mine is still not controlled by the government, and the culprits are still at large, killing only a few scapegoats..."
"But all the problems have been solved," Jiang Yi whispered: "You can explain it, isn't this the best result?"
"Yes..." Wang Bengu nodded slowly and said, "It's solved, why do I still feel so blocked?"
Jiang Yixin said that it was because you were kept in the dark because you kept it in the dark, so he stopped talking and let Lord Zhongcheng continue to be confused.
Not only Wang Bengu was also confused, but also Sun Ying and Tao Dalin. In order to avoid suspicion, the two had never met Shen Mo alone. However, as ordinary officials in Zhejiang, when experiencing the entire incident, they inevitably felt that they were "not aware of the true face of Mount Lu". So that day, Chen Mo invited them to visit the Bailong Cave of Changshan, and the two made up their minds to ask him clearly.
Chen Si did not hide anything, and he told all the inside story honestly on the way. After hearing this, Tao Dalin and Sun Ying were so shocked that they couldn't speak for a long time. They really couldn't imagine that the hidden story was so complicated. Later, Sun Ying gradually became as usual, but Tao Dalin was always quiet, as if he had something to say. Chen Si asked him, but he shook his head and didn't say anything... either he didn't want to say it, or he didn't think about what to say.
He didn't say that, Chen Si followed him, and he concentrated on his journey. From Quzhou City to Changshan, the group set out in the early morning and rode their horses to the foot of Tianma Mountain in the Changshan Mountains... This bow-shaped mountain spans east and west, like a rushing horse, so it was named. The White Dragon Cave happened to be on the back of the horse, so he could only walk up. Chen Si left the guards to watch the horses at the foot of the mountain, and the others began to climb the mountain.
The trees on Tianma Mountain are shady and lush. It is the spring season when the hawthorn comes after the peach blossoms, and gardenia and azaleas bloom all over the mountains. Seeing this beautiful scenery, even Tao Dalin smiled. The three silent brothers walked and whistled in the mountains, chanting poems against the beautiful scenery, and they were in a very uncomfortable mood.
It was almost noon, and I finally saw the White Dragon Cave hidden in the woods. The cave was very wide, with a small river flowing out in front of the cave, the reeds on both sides were hidden, the willows swaying, the waves rippling, and the scales swim. It is a blessing in the cave.
Seeing that the river water was clear, everyone who had been dry mouth had already cheered, and they all ran over to wash their faces and drink water. In silence, they also scooped the clear river water and washed their faces. They felt refreshed, took out a handkerchief to wipe their hands, and looked at the stone carvings on the mountain wall by the cave.
In fact, the name of White Dragon Cave is very vulgar. There are only five or six places that Chen Si has seen. As for what they have never seen, there must be more. But this White Dragon Cave has become particularly attractive because of a person teaching here; that person's charm is so great that it can make Chen Si run so far to look at the stone carvings on the mountain wall.
I saw six large regular script characters engraved on the mountain wall: "Wang Yangming Lecture Office".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In March of the sixth year of Jiajing, 56-year-old Yangming gave a lecture here. At this time, Wang Yangming was in poor physical condition after a long battle and years of running around. However, his extraordinary thoughts and philosophy also reached the most exquisite peak moment at this time...
This lecture was also Wang Yangming's last public lecture. Two months later, he was appointed as the Left Censor of the imperial court and went to Guangxi to quell the rebellion. He died of illness the following year. Therefore, this place has always been regarded as a holy place by Wang Xuemen, and there are endless worshipers.
Chen Si ordered the people to place the sacrifices on the altar, sing incense for Yangming Gong with their own hands, and then led everyone to bow respectfully. Then, with the two brothers, they carefully looked at the dense stone carvings on the mountain walls.
Most of these stone carvings are poems, with hundreds of essays; most of them are left by Wang Xuemen. After reading them one by one, you can see many well-known names and poems they have written... Of course, most of them express their admiration for their ancestors, and some of them tell their own experience of learning, including many thought-provoking mottos and aphorisms.
Chen Mo and Tao Dalin were so fascinated that they suddenly heard Sun Ying cry out, "There are also the original works of Yangming Gong!" The two of them hurried over and saw a long poem signed by Wang Yangming, which was called "Changsheng". Tao Dalin chanted softly: "Changsheng is only admired, but he has no great medicine. The famous mountains are everywhere, and his hair is long and thin. A small body is connected to the thoughts, and the road is far away... The universe is my place, so how can I use him to seek it? All the saints are passing by, and the conscience is my teacher!"
"A thousand saints are all over the shadows, and conscience is my teacher." A sentence tells the story of Yangming, and whispers silently and repeatedly, a little confused for a moment.
After his expression recovered, Tao Dalin whispered: "Everyone said that Yangming Gong was crazy. It seems that this is true. Even sages from ancient times regarded them as clouds and mists. Is it only his conscience learning right?"
"Haha..." Chen Si shook his head and said, "You misinterpreted the meaning of Yangming Gong. He said that we should not be bound by the ancients. Even the words of sages are all directed at the past. How can people today do exactly what they do?"
"Then what principles should we follow?" Tao Dalin stared at the silent.
"Follow the conscience." Silence said lightly.
"What is conscience?" Tao Dalin asked.
"Knowing good and evil is conscience." Of course, Chen Si had to answer this.
"Is it okay to know this?" Tao Dalin asked afterwards.
"You must also be united by knowledge and action." Looking back at him silently, he smiled warmly, "If you have anything to say, what should you do in such a big circle?" He didn't believe Tao Dalin didn't know this, but now he asked knowingly, which obviously had no intention.
"You said that knowing good and evil is conscience," Tao Dalin did not avoid it, and said in a deep voice: "I also said that you should integrate knowledge and action, but what you do is really good? You can still tell the difference between what is good and what is evil curse?"
"I can't hold it in my heart at last." Faced with the accusation of the old friend, I was still not annoyed, and said with a smile: "Of course I can tell the difference."
"You can't tell." Tao Dalin is an upright person. He disagreed with the silence of the system of good and evil, and is very fond of the practice of profit. He felt that he had to wake up his brothers to avoid falling deeper and deeper. He said, "If the right and wrong are clear, you should punish evil and promote good. Even if you can't do it for a while, you should not compromise with those villains..." He paused, and he said in a stronger tone: "You know that the real culprit is the Nine Masters and the local tyrants, but you just made peace with them and gave them benefits. Isn't this not to distinguish between good and evil?" Finally, he asked: "Have you done it when you say that knowledge and action are united?"
"Yes, it seems that you have also worked hard on Yangmingzhi." Chen Si was not anxious and said with a smile: "You should know the story of 'Busheng Fu Feng'."
Tao Dalin nodded and said he knew. This is a very famous example that Wang Yangming gave in his works. It is said that there was a hyperplasia named Fu Feng who was unable to support his elderly parents and stupid brother because of his poor family. So he studied day and night regardless of his life, wanting to study to delay poverty and make his family live a good life. But things went against his wishes, because he was not full and his studies were too hard, so he was bedridden and fell seriously ill and almost died.
"Do you still remember what Yangming Gong evaluated?" Looking at Yangming Gong's words silently, "I'll point out the truth for you, don't doubt it anymore." I couldn't help but sigh: "I just regret that I was born a few decades ago and cannot listen to my teacher's teachings. It's a great regret in life."
Tao Dalin expressed a thoughtful expression. He knew that if he followed the traditional Confucian thought, only talking about motivation but not the effect, Fu Feng's actions could be said to be very filial and would be praised by the world. But Wang Yangming did not appreciate it, but instead said that he was not filial to his parents... He did not care about his body so much. If he was tired or sick, his parents and brothers would have no one to support him. What's the use of your motives?
"How should we achieve the unity of knowledge and action?" He heard the silent and calm wind, "Everyone knows that it is easy to know and difficult to do. If you stick to the framework of certain moral dogmas and dare not take a step forward, your behavior will inevitably be restricted, which is tantamount to being bound by yourself. If you encounter a little difficulty, you will have no choice." He said with a smile and said, "Why not break out of those frameworks first, use your 'conscience' to find good solutions to problems, and then act cheaply, hoping to succeed?"
"Aren't you afraid of going wrong?" Tao Dalin asked in a deep voice.
"So you must not forget your conscience at all times," said quietly and honestly: "The so-called conscience is to know good and evil, but the standards of good and evil cannot be unchanged. Soldiers kill people on the battlefield is not evil, but killing people in normal times is; treating people well with their widows in their neighbors is considered good, but treating their own children well does not count. Therefore, conscience must be divided into situations. To do big things, you must talk about great conscience, and to do small things, you must talk about small conscience... Let the Quzhou mine no longer become the root of chaos, and to save the court and the people from the harm of riots. This is my great conscience. As long as the final result is positive, I can give up some small conscience, even if it is criticized for this, it doesn't matter, because I only follow my own conscience."
At this time, Sun Ying next to him also said, "My words are right. Since you have come out to be an official, you should consider the court and the people. This is our conscience." He said with a smile: "As for personal conscience, we can only put it aside..."
