Several huge cooked iron truss-type factories are equipped with the main rolling equipment of the rolling mill: 2 initial forging machines, 2 hot rolling mills, 2 hot perforating machines, 2 cold rolling steel pipe machines, 2 cold drawing steel pipe machines, 2 cold pulling rod machines, and 2 cold rolling steel pipe machines. It can roughly cold rolling and hot rolling various common specifications of steel plates, strip steel, wire and various steel profiles.

Although the equipment is fully equipped, most equipment is not used frequently - firstly, there are very few workers who can use these equipment, and even if the veterans can use it, it takes a long time to accumulate skilled workers; secondly, the supporting equipment required by the steel rolling mill is very complex, including annealing and pickling, which seriously drags down the full load operation of the equipment. Finally, regardless of hot rolling and cold rolling, lubricating oil and coolant are required. Although it is said that Linggao Industry can currently supply substitutes for these things, in addition to the cooling water that can be supplied openly, other grease lubricants are limited by supply quotas. Therefore, many equipment is in a state of opening and stopping. The technical requirements of cold rolling are higher than that of hot rolling and the technical requirements for post-processing are very high, and the yield rate of cold rolling in the steel rolling mill has always been low. This is also the reason why Ji Wuyin decided to only manufacture hot rolled silicon steel plates.

The process of hot-rolled silicon steel plates is also very complicated, and the production cycle is as long as 12 to 15 days. If the silicon steel sheets used for transformers are produced, the time may be as long as 20 days. Therefore, a special annealing furnace must be installed to avoid long-term occupation. The manufacturing and debugging of these supporting equipment took a long time for the steel consortium.

During hot rolling, the primary heating steel rolling method is used. The silicon steel ingot is loaded into a heating furnace for preheating. The temperature of the heating furnace must be kept at 950c to 1020c, so that the final rolling temperature can be roughly controlled above 700c.

The heating furnace adopts a chain type, which is not very hot. The advantage is that it is uniform heating, which is more suitable for industrial standards like Linggao. Silicon steel plate rolling requires very high heating requirements. Losing some thermal efficiency is also a helpless choice.

First, the silicon steel ingot is rolled into a certain size rolling blank through a rolling mill, first rolled into a thin slab using a horizontal rolling mill, and then hot rolled. In this way, the slab tolerance can be controlled to a level of ±0.3mm, which roughly meets the tolerance control requirements.

After the slab is rolled and molded, it is stacked and molded according to a certain number of blocks. Then the rolled slab is heated to the rated temperature in the heating furnace for formal hot rolling.

After hot rolling, natural stacking cooling is first necessary, but this process is not conducive to decarbonization. Therefore, veteran technicians of the metallurgy outlet chose the rapid water cooling technology that Shanghai Silicon Steel Factory once used. The hot rolled silicon steel sheets are poured into water for rapid cooling within 10 seconds. This process not only reduces the natural cooling time, but also greatly improves the decarbonization level.

However, since the input into water is equivalent to a quenching, the hardness of the steel plate will increase significantly, which has little impact on the motor silicone steel, but it will affect the mechanical processing energy of transformer silicone steel with higher silicon content, so it is only used in the production of motor silicone steel.

After cooling, the silicon steel plate is then manually lifted, and the first component test is carried out to determine whether the element content is suitable. Then, it is hot rolled and flattened again, and finally annealed in an annealing furnace.

Annealing is a key link in the decarbonization of silicon steel plates. Silicon steel plates must reduce the carbon content to 0.02% during the annealing process to be considered qualified. The veterans of the industrial sector unanimously believe that the condition of Linggao can be broader - it is stronger than low-carbon steel no matter what. The stacking method is still used during annealing. The annealing furnace of the Manau rolling mill uses gas as fuel to heat it. If it is exquisite, pure hydrogen can be used to heat it, and the decarbonization effect is the best. Ji Wusheng can only be satisfied with gas.

During annealing, the temperature is gradually heated to 690c-750c at a rate of 15c-30c per hour, and then kept for 11 hours, and then the temperature is reduced to completely cool at a rate of 10c-15c per hour.

The temperature control of annealing furnace is very energy-consuming. Linggao Industry does not have automatic temperature control equipment. It relies entirely on manpower to check the thermometer to increase or reduce the gas volume of the heating nozzle to control the temperature. It is difficult to achieve accurate temperature control in a small range.

After 20 consecutive days of struggle, the first batch of silicon steel sheets for motors were manufactured. Ji Wusheng immediately sent someone to Ge Xinxin for spectroscopy component analysis.

The results of the composition analysis were unsatisfactory. According to the standards of the old time and space, the metallurgical mouth had to work hard for several months and spent a lot of manpower and material resources to make the silicon steel sheets were scrap. Then the magnetic surname was tested. The results were even more terrible, and the test results of the best part of the magnetic surname were not satisfactory.
