Chapter 1014 German East Africa is not easy to do

Entering March

The Songjiang World Expo held by the Ocean Empire grandly opened. Exhibited goods and business groups from all over the world gathered in this emerging metropolis, showing new scientific and technological achievements from the Second Industrial Revolution to chemical industry and electrification. This is also the most grand event of the Empire this year and is highly valued by the government.

Delegations from various governments also flocked to us, and US President Davin Potter led a delegation to officially launch a state visit to the Ocean Empire. He was one of the earliest heads of state to arrive.

According to the visit plan, the second Council Meeting and Summit Forum of the Pacific Security Alliance, which will be held at the end of March, will be attended by the heads of state and senior governments of more than a dozen countries of the alliance and some observer governments, including the Prime Minister of Fuso Country, Earl Nishimotoji.

The itinerary of US President Davin Porter does not include participating in the Pacific Security Alliance meeting, because such a regional state organization has essentially greatly restricted the United States' existence in the Pacific region, limited the United States' influence, and also restricted the United States' economic and trade exchanges. It is even more excluding the United States from the circle of friends. How would he be willing to attend such a meeting?

It is precisely because of the existence of the Pacific Security Alliance that the United States has almost cut off its strategic intention to develop towards the Pacific. Its presence in the Far East, South Asia, Indian Ocean and Western Pacific is almost nothing, so it shifted its entire development focus to Europe, and its diplomatic focus is focused on Central and South America, which is very different from the original history.

Daming Palace

Neiting Tai Liquid Pool

This is a beautiful mountain lake with a beautiful scenery. The shore is full of strange rocks and flying eaves and pavilions. There are nine-curved corridors and bridges connected between them. Each mountain and water, each grass and a tree are all unique, and it is a beautiful scenery on earth.

Li Fushou gave a banquet for some old friends here, Earl Xin Changjun, the senior leader of the noble House of Lords, Earl Conrad Adenauer, Marquis Fan Zhongzhai, Prime Minister Zhang Li and Marshal He Fang, and Marshal Li Shuanzhu, chatted and laughed at the banquet, and the atmosphere was very harmonious.

From the current continental wars to the aristocratic marriages, everything is covered.

"Your Majesty, the British have repeatedly asked us to send troops to encircle and suppress the remaining enemies of Germany and East Africa. You always refuse. Do you have any deeper strategic considerations?" Earl Conrad Adenauer, who was white-haired and white, was getting stronger and stronger, and he was living more and more energetic.

His questions attracted the attention of everyone here.

The territory of German East Africa is quite small, a little smaller than Mozambique (Mozambique in current time and space includes the Malawi region, with a total area of about 1 million square kilometers, while German East Africa has more than 920,000 square kilometers, slightly less than in history.), and it is located in the southern part of Mozambique, so it is difficult not to attract everyone's attention.

Li Fushou took a sip of the dish and chewed it with relish. After swallowing it, he picked up the French red wine and took a sip. He slowly wiped his mouth with a white handkerchief. Then he smiled slightly and said, "I don't believe you, old guy, you can't tell me."

"The old minister can see that it is a one-man statement, so he still needs to make a decision."

"The British are not kind-hearted. They have always wanted to drag us into the whirlpool of European war. To be honest, I don't like this land in Germany and East Africa, and the local population is too large. It seems that there are more than 7.6 million black natives, which is too difficult to digest."

"Then we can pick up a good place to get it. The land along the Great Rift Valley and the seaside of East Africa is very fertile, with plenty of rainwater, and there are large areas of tropical rainforests. The drought and barren inland areas are no longer needed. In this way, we can drive the local black indigenous people to the north and north, leaving about one-third of the land with Mozambique to form the Greater Mozambique area. As for the troops, just send militias. The total number of Germans in East Africa is more than 6,000 whites."

"Well, the Germans are not as easy to deal with as you think."

"The old ministers still insist on their opinions. There are only more than 2,000 troops in Germany and East Africa, with less than 200 white officers and soldiers. The rest are local black troops equipped with rifles. They only need a regiment of militia to wipe out."

The Conrad Adners grew stubborn as they grew older. It seems that not only Russians liked large areas of land, but also Germans.

At this time

Xin Changjun bowed and said;

“The Lord’s clarification;

The old minister recently looked for information about Germany and East Africa and looked at it. He found that this land still has great potential, and it was a pity that God would not take it.

Under the rule of the Germans, Germany and East Africa became the place of production and commodity sales, and was a complete colonial economy.

All the land in East Africa of Germany belonged to the Emperor, and the authorities had the right to sell, rent or distribute the land. A large number of fertile land fell into the hands of immigrants in Germany and Europe.

According to statistics

In 1907, in Sadani alone, 12 major German companies accounted for 125,000 acres of land, while most of the African land was sporadic and barren.

Plantations established by German immigrants or companies generally cover a large area, such as the two earliest cotton plantations, both covering an area of 300 square kilometers.

Until the war breaks out

There are 281 rubber plantations, 76 sisal plantations and 22 cotton plantations in Germany.

Taking sisal as an example alone, the planting area increased from the initial 1390 hectares to 24750 hectares.

Sisar, rubber and cotton have become the main export projects in the area, worth hundreds of millions of marks.

Due to the extreme insufficient human resources in Germany, there are only more than 4,600 white Germans in the local area. The resource development of German East Africa is very insufficient. Mozambique, which is close to German East Africa, now has a population of more than 10 million and has sufficient human resources to develop.

We hold this land in our hands, even if it only takes 1/3, it can expand the planting scale more than ten times in less than three years, providing sufficient depth for the development of the Mozambique region.

In this regard, the British cannot compete with us.

Even if it is joint development, the main interests of the end still belong to the empire, and I firmly believe that."

Li Fushou did not speak after hearing this, but looked calmly at everyone present, seeing that most of them had similar views.

Alas, I took these guys wrongly.

He couldn't help but blame himself, and then threw it behind without any guilt.

Nowadays, the Imperial military and political leaders have a strong desire to expand, and even the media and newspapers will talk about it with relish. Should Sumadara and Java be taken back together? If the Indochina Peninsula is occupied, wouldn’t it be integrated with the mainland of China? Europe should have an imperial territory. The archipelago near Greece is good. The empire’s territory in North America is a bit small, and it should occupy the central plains and expand to the Great Lakes region...

Such naked aggression and expansion remarks are not uncommon in the empire, and they are likely to trigger discussions among the whole nation. Everyone speaks enthusiastically and has great participation!

At first, similar aggression remarks always aroused the vigilance of the Netherlands, the United States and other countries, and even issued formal diplomatic notes to express strong protests.

The empire generally expresses freedom of speech without any pain, and then imposes fines on the media that are violent and excessive, causing them to apologize on the reports, and at most it will be like this.

This indulgence attitude has instead caused more similar remarks in the imperial newspapers.

Why?

Because this eye-catching view is very attractive to readers, it will greatly expand newspaper sales and arouse heated discussions among the public. The so-called sensationalism is nothing more than that. Who wouldn’t be willing to do it if you have money or benefit?

To be honest, it feels really bad for this kind of neighbor to always worry about his yard.

But after a long time, countries like the United States and the Netherlands became numb. Because they couldn't protest at all, they naturally chose to turn a blind eye, as long as they were not too much.

Li Fushou waved and called Secretary-General Cai Tinggan to instruct, "Tinggan, these old people are determined to expand territory for the empire, and their hearts are commendable, but German East Africa is not that simple. Please inform them of the recent military briefing: The British and Belgians, the Portuguese were bleeding in German East Africa, and were looking for the robbers everywhere."

"I am obeying the sage orders." Cai Tinggan bowed and replied.

He turned around and said respectfully to all the old men sitting;

“My dear sirs, according to the recent African military briefings;

German East Africa has an area of about 920,000 square kilometers and a population of about 7.65 million, but only more than 6,300 whites are surrounded by enemies, surrounded by British East Africa, Uganda, Northern Rhodesia (Sambiya), and Bilibili Congo (Zaire). Most of them are British colonies, and only Mozambique in the south is neutral. Therefore, in terms of defense, German East Africa can be said to be almost surrounded by enemies.

Before the war begins

The forces in German East Africa include 68 white officers, 60 white officers, 132 white medical officers and administrators, 2 black officers, 184 black officers, and 2,286 black soldiers.

In terms of weapons, there are 67 machine guns and 31 outdated light field guns. The rifles equipped by soldiers are old Mauser rifles of the 1871 type, which are generally relatively old.

There are about 2,000 troops in British East Africa and Uganda, and the personnel composition is mainly black soldiers with a small number of white officers. The two German and British troops are basically equal.

Before the outbreak of the European War, Germany had four colonies in Africa, namely Turkoran, Cameroon, German Southwest Africa and German East Africa.

After the war started last year

A few German and indigenous police forces were unable to resist the attack of the British and French troops. Soon Turkoran, Cameroon and German Southwest Africa fell into the hands of Britain and France one after another, winning preliminary victories.

However, when Britain attacked Germany's East Africa, it encountered serious setbacks.

Here we have to mention an excellent German officer. He was Lieutenant Colonel Paul von Leto-Furbeck, the commander of the German East African Security Forces. He once witnessed the Second Boer War in South Africa and was deeply impressed by the incompetence of the British army.

Lieutenant Colonel Leto Furbeck decided to hold as much enemy forces as possible in Africa in any possible way, and the longer the better.

One more British army is invested in the African battlefield, which means one less British army is invested in the European war. He is supporting the German army on the European battlefield in this way.

When the attack on German East Africa was initially frustrated, the British Foreign Ministry coordinated, and the British Indian Army sent two elite brigades with a total of more than 8,000 men to fight in Africa, and the number was designated as the B Detachment of the Indian Expeditionary Force.

Among them, there is a Northern Lancashire camp composed of pure white people, a Gurkha infantry battalion, and the rest are all Indian soldiers.

Before the British Indian army of two brigades went from Mumbai, India to Mombasa, East Africa, the East African colonial army launched an offensive against German East Africa again. The King's African Rifle Regiment had about 1,500 troops advanced towards Longjido, but was defeated by the German troops of 600 and were defeated again.

After the British and Indian troops arrived in Mombasa, the German army was at an absolute disadvantage of 1:8 in terms of number, but the German commander Lieutenant Colonel Leto Forbeck was full of confidence. He was ready to give the British a head-on blow.

The battle broke out soon

Three British officers climbed to the top of the mountain to observe the enemy situation, but were shot dead by snipers who had been on high alert. The ambushed German army launched a sudden attack. The black indigenous soldiers rushed to the 13th British and Indian army's 13th Rajput regiment. The Indian army was immediately defeated and left the British officer who was snatching his feet and cursing, fleeing in all directions. As a result, 12 British officers of the regiment were beaten to death.

The first battle resulted in 300 casualties in the British and Indian troops, most of which were white officers and sergeants.

The Indian soldiers were so panicked that more than 100 Indian soldiers of the Rajput regiment disintegrated just because one of the rifles went fire. They fled back to the landing beach, jumped into the sea and squatted and exposed their heads.

After a morning of tossing

Aikent, the commander of the Indian Expeditionary Force, was exhausted by patience. He decided to launch a decisive attack and use his absolute advantage in force to clear the German army out.

Aikent ordered the strongest combat effectiveness of Northern Lancashire Camp and Gurkha Camp to take the lead, and the Indian United rear attacked Tanga again.

The German defense line was equipped with barbed wire and machine gun fire points. German indigenous soldiers lie down on the tall baobab tree and shoot down the British and Indian troops, which triggered African bees to attack the British army. African bees are the famous killer bees. You can imagine how miserable the result was.

The British army was once again "beaten" by African bees and fled to the coast.

A soldier from Northern Lancashire said:

"We don't care about the German artillery fire, but our Indians kept getting fire behind us, and the bees stinging made everything mess up."

Battle of Tanga Port

The British army discarded all unloaded equipment on the beach, a large number of rifles, 16 machine guns and a large amount of food, blankets, motorcycles, telegraph machines, etc. More than 800 British and Indian troops died in battle, 500 injured, and 250 disappeared.

In contrast, Leto Furbeck's men had only 15 white soldiers and 54 indigenous soldiers killed and injured.

The British suffered a complete failure. They did not have the ability to launch another attack in a short period of time, and they urgently needed a lot of logistics supplements because their logistics supplies were lost and all were given to the Germans."

After reporting, Cai Tinggan gave a graceful bow and left.
