Chapter 401 Orderly Advancement

The transportation in the Qingshui River Basin mainly relies on inland shipping. The already built Tianshu City, Tianxuan Town, Tianji Town and Tianquan Town have shown strong transportation demand, which is the biggest opportunity to develop inland shipping.

In the early days, inland shipping mainly transported personnel and materials to newly built towns, and was one-way material transportation.

In particular, Tianshu City has developed very fast and has been able to stably produce a large amount of rice, vegetables, fruits, pork and fresh poultry products. In addition, the development of offshore fishing industry can continue to provide the demand for main and non-staple food for inland development, and no longer need to be transported from the outside. It can not only be self-sufficient, but also provide sufficient rice and vegetable supply to Longmen Town.

This fully demonstrates the huge potential of the Qingshui River Basin's farming and plantation economy. Agricultural products mainly consisting of rice, coffee, and cocoa tobacco leaves can not only be supplied to the entire Shangri-La Island in the future, but can also be redeemed for Australia to supplement the growing and larger grain gap.

Huge demand for freight is the biggest opportunity for Qixing Town in the Qingshui River Basin to develop inland shipping. After Tianxuan Town, Tianji Town and Tianquan Town entered a period of stable development, it is expected that starting from June, a large number of agricultural and sideline products and poultry will be produced one after another.

When the two-way flow of materials between cities and towns enter the stage of two-way flow of materials, it will inevitably strongly increase the demand for inland shipping, which is the basis for the prosperity and development of the inland ship construction industry today.

At least in the next decade

With the continued influx of immigration and the deepening of development, this strong demand for transportation will not weaken.

It's exactly what I saw

A large amount of private capital has poured into the inland shipping industry, and a one-stop industrial chain from ship manufacturing to ship spare parts has been quickly formed in Tianshu City, and the business is booming and thriving.

Australia is mainly based on animal husbandry. Tens of thousands of hectares of land near Songjiang Town are not enough to solve the food problem of millions of people across Australia, and can only meet half of the needs.

The standards for eating potatoes, rice and beef and mutton are very different. According to the existing agricultural production capacity, if you eat rice at the staple food, about 1/2 acre (3 acres) of cultivated land can support an adult. If beef and mutton are the staple food, this number will be several times higher.

Deeply developing the Qingshui River Basin is a fundamental plan to solve the increasingly large population of immigrants, and thus it has attracted the attention of Hongbao and provided strong support for policies and funds.

It won't take a few years

Shangri-La Island can continuously export special products such as rice, tobacco leaves, natural rubber, sugar, coffee, cocoa, copper concentrate to Australia, and Australia exports beef and mutton products, machinery and equipment, gas stoves, dairy products, tractors and salt chemical products, forming a two-way stable trade pattern.

This played an important role in the economic prosperity of the two places and strengthened the overall economic strength led by Queensland. As for the Borneo plantation economy, it is more dominated by outward exports, and the world market is far wider than imagined, and can easily accommodate the size of a Borneo plantation economy.

Don't say anything else

Europe and North America have almost endless demands for tobacco, coffee, cocoa, spices and sugar. This is due to the demand for economic development and the demand for high-quality life.

The late 19th century

The world situation is generally stable, and countries around the world are at the end of the first steam industrial revolution, and have ushered in the second industrial revolution represented by diesel engines and electricity. While productivity is rapidly increasing, the economy is developing rapidly, and the people's living standards have been greatly improved.

The emergence of a large number of middle classes in Europe and the United States has expanded the world consumer market. The current background of the world's economic development is a great blessing for the Queensland economy.

On the simple wooden pier in the river bay

A total of 11 inland ships were approached by the simple docks in order, and a large number of personnel and materials were carried to the shore by people on their backs. The unloading took two full days, and 30 tractors were finally transported to the shore, and the front and trailer buckets were connected on the shore.

On the charred town site of Yuheng Town, dense and neat tents have been erected. The staff of each working group has been assigned, and the prelude to the arduous construction will be kicked off.

The same scene has been repeated several times, and everything is proceeding step by step. The Yuheng Town Development Command was successfully established, and Wu Xuewen, the chief manager, did not even hold any position in it, just need to be in charge.

A group of assistants under his command have long grown up and shouldered the important task of Yuheng Town development.

The next morning

All the builders were concentrated on the empty town site, and the red flags fluttered in front of each working group, as if they had finished lined up like soldiers going out to war.

The chief manager Wu Xuewen stood on the temporary wooden platform and delivered a passionate speech through the copper speaker. The content was nothing more than encouragement, motivation and incitement, which attracted a wave of warm applause like a tide.

The end of the speech

Wu Xuewen waved his hand and said;

“…

Brothers, friends, and compatriots, I believe that history will remember this day firmly.

We come to the fertile wasteland that no one has ever been interested in for millions of years, and use our hands and hard sweat to support a rising new Yuheng Town. This will become a paradise for Chinese immigrants and colonists, living and thriving on this land, with children in groups.

As the first generation of builders, your great achievements will be recorded in the history of the town, and your reputation will be passed down to future generations.

While we enjoy it all, never forget...

As the lord of this vast land, this is the shelter given to overseas wanderers by the kind Count. This sacred and solemn promise will not only exist today, tomorrow and even in the infinite future, and will surely be passed down to future generations.

Let us gently stroke our right hand to our chest, approach our hearts, and be grateful with a pious mood, and thank our Lord Earl for all this.

Land, water, freedom, carefree and a good life, I sincerely wish the noble Count the holy body and the blessings will last forever."

"I wish the noble Count the sacred body of good health and long-lasting blessings."

More than 2,600 builders shouted in unison, and their voices spread from afar and floated into the sky and resounded throughout the wasteland.

This was an exciting moment, and everyone was full of enthusiasm.

The final procedure was the foundation laying ceremony. Wu Xuewen, the chief manager, dug the first shovel of soil next to the granite monument. Firecrackers immediately sounded at the scene, gongs and drums were loud, and the lively dragon and lion dance began.

The end of the construction ceremony

Wu Xuewen waved his hand and shouted, "Now I announce that the fifth town of Qixing Town in the Qingshui River Basin will be built, and the construction of Yuheng Town will start from now on, and all engineering groups will start..."

Under the leadership of the red flag in front of each working group, more than 2,600 builders came out one after another and rushed to their workplace quickly. The hot, busy and noisy construction officially began.

The tractor fleet roared into the construction area and took the lead in leveling the land in Yuheng Town. First, it used deep plowing machinery to turn the land. For this work alone, it took a week for a few kilometers of land within a radius.

After a few days of exposure to the sun, the land that was deeply crushed in advance will be broken, raked, compacted, and used lime lines to draw roads and sewer culverts, commercial blocks and residential blocks, workshop blocks, dock warehouse areas, agricultural product trading areas, etc.

These urban areas will be built in steps according to the plan.

The logging team went straight into the deep forest and began to cut down big trees, cut off the branches and dragged them to the wood factory, sawed them into wooden boards of varying sizes, wooden squares and wooden strips, and dried in the sun and set aside for use.

The carpentry team took the lead in building sheds and finished wood warehouses for the wood yard, kitchen warehouses, corrals and chicken and duck sheds for the logistics team, temporary workshops for the command headquarters, and temporary sheds for everyone.

The construction team began to use the bricks and stones to build brick cellars, lime cellars, and wood drying kilns to prepare materials for the next major construction.

We also need to build stoves for logistics and build sewer culverts for the town first...

The burning team opened up a safe passage along the edge of the forest, preparing flammable gasoline and hay-dead wood, and preparing to set fire to a big fight.

In tropical rainforest areas, there is no need to worry about the destruction of forest vegetation. Under the existing productivity conditions, burning wasteland and reclaiming cultivated land is more likely to be in shrub areas and lowland swamps with abundant vegetation, and will not affect large forests.

Trees grow vigorously in forests in tropical areas, and even if large trees are cut down, they cannot be cultivated into fertile fields. Because the roots of large trees have developed deep roots, if you want to dig out a tree root, 5 to 6 strong laborers will have to work for 2 to 3 days. How many big trees are there in a mu of land in the forest?

Thinking about it makes people feel numb. This is easy to calculate, and it is not cost-effective to cultivate.

The bushes and lowland swamp areas with abundant vegetation are different. After setting fires and burning the wasteland, just turn deep and plow flat, and rake the roots of some shrubs and weeds out with iron rakes, and you can plant crops and wait for harvest. It is simple and easy to use and save trouble.

Establish soil dams in lowland swamp areas to block the entry of streams. The swamp will naturally dry up over time.

Then the same thing is still the same. After burning the weeds and turning the land deep, expose it to the sun for a week, rake out the roots of the weeds and shrubs, then break the land and rake it flat, and then you can sow the seeds of crops to wait for harvest.

Generally speaking

The lowland swamp areas where countless plants and leaves have accumulated over tens of millions of years are extremely rich in nutrients. The best fertile land is cultivated, and the yield per mu is much higher than that of ordinary fields.

The dock construction team began to expand and reinforce simple wooden trests. The construction of inland river trests is much simpler than that of sea port trests. There is no need to worry about sea trests and acid fog erosion on the beach. The reinforced wooden trests can be used for many years.

The focus is to broaden and reinforce the need to meet the needs of installing dock transportation equipment. There should be sufficient space on the trestle to provide convenient transportation between carriages, ox carriages and tractors, and thickened wooden boards are enough to meet the needs.

The key is that the dock construction team must build warehouses in the port area to meet the increasing demand for materials in the later period. Whether it is flour, grain or other materials, they need a good storage environment. Stacking them in tents is not a long-term solution.
