Thirty-three

A few days later, Delk Stelloff made a special trip to find me.

"I heard you and Bronche have met?" he asked.

"Where did you know?"

"I was told that he saw you sitting in a cafe with them. Why didn't you say something to me?"

"I'm worried that it will make you more painful."

"So what? You know, I want to know her business, no matter how small it is."

I know he's going to ask a question.

"Can you tell me what she is now?" he asked first.

“It hasn’t changed at all.”

"Based on your observations, do you think she looks happy now?"

I shrugged helplessly.

"Why do you think I'll know? We were in a cafe and I was still playing chess with Strickland. I didn't talk to her because there was no chance."

"Ah, okay. But can't you tell if her expression is happy?"

I shook my head and had to tell him the situation at that time: she was expressionless at the time, and I could not judge from her face. Moreover, her hands were held together, motionless, and no feelings were revealed at all. She was a very self-controlled woman, and Delk should have known this. After hearing what I said, he was very excited and held his hands tightly.

"Ah, I'm very worried. I'm sure something very terrible will happen. I want to stop it, but I can't do anything."

"What's that?" I asked.

"Ah, I don't know either." He hugged his head and murmured, "I can only foresee a very terrible disaster that is about to happen."

Stellov was originally an emotional person. He now looked like he ran out of a mental hospital. I wanted to reason with him, but he couldn't listen at all. I think Bronsh Stellov probably saw that he could not continue living with Strickland. If you think she would suffer the consequences, then you would be very wrong. There is a saying that "self-inflict" seems to make sense, but in fact it is not the case at all. In real life, we will find that those who do something wrong and cause disasters all understand that the responsibility lies with them, but they always try their best to avoid pursuing the accountability and do not want to bear the consequences. Maybe Bronsh and Strickland had a big fight and found that they could only leave him, but her husband did not grudges and planned to take her in and wait for her to return to her and start again. I don't want to sympathize with Bronsh at all.

"I know you don't like her approach," said Stelloff.

"Anyway, there is no evidence to prove that she is not doing well. Judging from the current situation, maybe the two of them are getting along well."

Stellov glared at me as if he wanted to stop me from talking, but his desolate eyes had no deterrence at all.

"Okay, it certainly doesn't matter to you, but this matter is important to me, nothing can be more important than it."

I think my expression was a little impatient.

"Would you like to do something for me?" Stelloff asked me.

"willing."

"I want to send a letter to Bronche. Can you write it for me?"

"Why don't you write it yourself?"

"I wrote it, I can't even count the number of letters I wrote, but she didn't reply a single letter. I've guessed it long ago that she wouldn't read the letters I wrote."

"Did you forget? A woman is born with curiosity. Do you think she is not curious about the letters you wrote?"

"I know, she has no curiosity about me."

I looked at him in surprise, he lowered his head and did not let me see his eyes. His answer made me feel strange, and he became self-deprecating. It seemed that he had expected her reaction, that was, there was no reaction. Even the words he wrote personally could not arouse her affection for him.

"Do you firmly believe that one day she will come back to you?"

"I want to tell her that if something unfortunate happened to her, at least she can rely on me without going to the end. This is what I want her to understand."

I found a piece of letter paper.

"What do you need me to write?"

Here is the letter I wrote:

Dear Mrs. Stelloff:

Delk asked me to tell you that no matter when, as long as you give me a command, he will willingly help you do anything. As for what has happened, he has no doubts about you and will not reduce your love for you by a minute. Attach his address below, you can contact him at any time.
