China, rock and roll for 20 years!

This is the theme of the 7th Midi Music Festival in Haidian Park, Yanjing on May 1, 2006.

When it comes to Chinese rock music, I have to mention how many bands there are.

The first rock band in China is the Wanma Liwang Band established at the Yanjing Foreign Languages ​​Academy in 1979. It mainly covers the works of old-fashioned Western bands such as the Beatles and U2.

In 1981, the "Qin Dynasty" band was established and created the first Chinese local rock music "Ode to Qin". Although it seems that both the arrangement and soundtrack are obscure and difficult to understand, it truly promoted the development of rock music in China.

In 1984, the "Seven-Win Board" band was established, including Cui Jian, who was later hailed as the godfather of Chinese rock music.

In 1985, a rock song called "Nothing" was officially published in China as an audio publication for the first time, and it truly brought this musical form that was different from the traditional Chinese music to the general public.

Then the glorious era of Chinese rock music began. "Shameless", "Dream Back to the Tang Dynasty", and "The Flower House Girl" have been sung to this day. Then in 1994, the "Three Heroes of Demon Rock" Xiangjiang Hung Hom Concert, and rock music reached its true peak.

With the entry of capital, the domestic music scene began to bloom, and various emerging idol singers began to fill the music scene, and rock bands were greatly impacted. In addition, in the mid-to-late 1990s, rock singers were constantly exposed to drug use, fighting, racing, cheating, domestic violence, anger and other negative news, which made rock music fall to the trough and become a rat crossing the street that everyone shouted and beat. Fewer people like rock music because of their fanaticism.

After entering the new millennium, rock music no longer has the glory of the past, and most rock singers struggle at the bottom of the city, wandering in different bars, and becoming underground bands that are not on the table. Even the older generation of rockers sighed: "Rock is dead."

In order to discover new forces and launch fresh blood, this year's "Midi Music Festival" has made changes, and more than 100 new bands from all over the country were invited to join. Only less than 20% of the old bands participating in the music festival were invited to participate in the previous sessions.

"Twenty years of rock and roll have come, and it's time to change."

Among them, "Qin Yu and His Lion Choir" is one of the most popular bands in the past two years. Although most of them complain that their song "The Most Beautiful Expectations" is no longer a rock music and has become a pop music. However, after knowing that they were invited to participate in the press conference of "Shanghai World Expo", many underground bands still jealous.

Although there are constant controversy, as one of the few fresh bloods in recent years, the organizers of the "Midi Music Festival" still invited them to participate in the 20th anniversary celebration under the name of rock. They also arranged the best time period for them to show themselves, that is, they wanted to provide hope for those rock bands who are still struggling.

Qin Yu and his team performed on the third afternoon of May 3. Several people rehearsed it at "Shiba Agency" in the morning, in which Chen Qiang wrote a new song, which will be released for the first time in this music festival.

After having a simple lunch at the company at noon, Qin Yu borrowed a business car from the company and arrived at the venue with everyone from the "Lion Choir" before the opening of the afternoon.

"Wow, my blood is already boiling." Looking at the crowds of people in the park, the colorful flags and the tents fluttering in the wind, Wang Dongdong, the youngest in the band, couldn't help but shout.

Groups of rock young men with bright cockscombs, wearing ripped jeans, carrying tents, and pulling their girlfriends, gathering from all over the world to this carnival of sunshine, air, water, beautiful girls and music.

"Brother Qiang, aren't you excited?" Wang Dongdong muttered at Chen Qiang. Seeing Chen Qiang glaring at him again, he hurried to the van behind and put his instrument on his back.

Excited, Chen Qiang must be excited. The band "Rat and Crow" that used to be a few people also participated in the "Midi Music Festival" in 2003. It was just a sub-season performance at the opening of the first day. It was not as good as it is now, and it could be the main recommendation of the day.

"I will join Chen Qiang and others in the band, so I can save myself from being squeezed outside." Qin Yu said to Qin Lan and the others with excitement, "You guys can go shopping here and call me if you have something to do."

"I understand, we still need your explanation." Qin Lan waved her hand at Qin Yu in dissatisfaction: "You don't have to worry about us. With two of us policemen here, no one can bully Song Ran."

Today, Qin Yi went to the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League to report that Du Han was pulled by Qin Lan and Song Ran to attend the music festival. Among the three girls, it is estimated that only Qin Lan really likes rock music, and the two women were infected by the fanatical atmosphere on the scene.

There were about 60,000 music fans from all over the country at the venue. They had been partying at the home of this music festival in Haidian Park for three days. If nothing unexpected happens, they will continue for two days until the end of the Fifth Music Festival.

Qin Yu and Chen Qiang brought their instruments with them, which was actually mainly to help Chen Qiang take his drums. A set of drums was divided into several packagings, and several men took one. Qin Yu's guitar and Wang Dongdong's bass were all helped to take them.

"Brother Qiang, I heard that the electric drum technology is very mature now, why don't we distribute the drum in the future?"

"No, that drum doesn't feel like it." Chen Qiang took the biggest bass drum and looked at Qin Yu with contempt. At today's concert, the organizer provided a drum set, but Chen Qiang still chose to use his own, which is a matter of personal habits.

As the assistant of the band, Wu Xue took out the band invitation letter and led by the staff to go to the main stage waiting area through the band's dedicated passage. They will officially debut at 2:40 pm.

For this year's music festival, the organizers set up a total of five stages of different sizes. The main stage is a band of popularity invited by the organizers from all over the country, and eight bands from overseas perform on stage every night.

There are three other sub-stages that accept performances from various registered bands with weaker reputations in China, namely light rock, heavy metal and folk songs. Yes, in order to make this music festival more diversified and attract more fans, the organizer set up a folk song stage for the first time.

But among the four sub-stages, the most attractive music fans is the "Guitar Piano Friends Association" special session next to the main stage. This is a performance stage organized by the forum "Guitar China". It took two days in total, and today is the first day, and the electric guitar performance special session.

Qin Yu found many acquaintances here, including Ding Wu, Li Tong of Black Panther, Li Lei of Tang Dynasty band, Liu Yuan of Qiheban band, and Li Yanliang of Overload band. This year's "Midi Music Festival" did not participate, and this "Guitar Piano Friends Club" became a stage for them to show themselves and make a contribution to rock music.

Seeing that there was still time, Qin Yu stopped in the waiting area of ​​the "Guitar Piano Friends Association". He lowered the drum in his hand and asked Yang Siwei to help watch it. Then, with Chen Qiang, Qi Heng and others excited and admiring eyes, he took them to the backstage area of ​​the sub-stage first.

"Uncle Wu." Qin Yu first took them to find Ding Wu from the "Tang Dynasty Band".

Ding Wu is a legend in the Chinese rock music scene. He once formed the "Qin Empire" band with Qin Ming. He was the lead singer and Qin Ming was the captain and main guitarist. However, in 1987, he went out solo to establish the "Black Panther Band", and in 1989, he established the "Tang Dynasty Band" with Zhang Ju and others. Many people thought that his breakup with Qin Ming was because of a conflict between the two, and only a few people knew that his departure was supported and funded by Qin Ming.

"Qin Yu, you are here. Long time no see you. You are very popular recently." Ding Wu couldn't help but tease after seeing Qin Yu.

After Qin Yu introduced Chen Qiang and others to him, he smiled bitterly at Ding Wu and said, "No matter how big the limelight is, there is no way to compare with you. Now many people say that we are not playing rock music anymore."

"Listen to what they are talking nonsense, a band can survive first. They can't even have enough food to eat, so why can't they play music?" Before Ding Wu could speak, Li Yanliang next to him took over.

"Brother Li, what you said is reasonable." Qin Yu nodded. People who do rock music are more romantic, often have great ideals and it is difficult to achieve a small step, because they need to save their husbands.

If Chinese guitarists are ranked, Li Yanliang will definitely be ranked in the top ten and at the top. Qin Yu once learned his original "bright horizontal bouncing" technique from him.
