Chapter 254 The teacher says Prajna

Li Ye stayed in the small courtyard with his husband for two days. He did not see the headmaster of Xuantian Temple. He only heard his husband tell him some things to pay attention to on Fangcun Mountain.

After dinner on the third morning, Li Ye comforted Mu Mu, said goodbye to Li Hongxiu, and left Xuantian Temple behind his husband.

The master and the disciple followed a small winding mountain path behind Xuantian Mountain to the Prajna Temple on the south slope.

"Sir, what is prajna?" Li Ye followed the gentleman and asked after thinking for a while.

When the gentleman heard this, a smile that Li Ye couldn't see appeared on his face.

Looking at the mountain road in front of him, he said: "Prajna means great wisdom. In Buddhism, this kind of wisdom is the wisdom of enlightenment, cultivation, transcending life and death, and transcending mortals."

"Prajna in Buddhism includes five levels: first, reality Prajna, second, realm Prajna, third, literal Prajna, fourth, expedient Prajna, and fifth, dependent Prajna."

Li Ye nodded and kept it in mind.

"You can ask the elders in the temple or Master Minghui for advice on these five levels of Prajna in your future practice. I won't explain it to you clearly here. Talking too much will cause misunderstanding in your understanding."

The gentleman said in a conversational manner, with a glimmer of light in his eyes.

Li Ye nodded and said softly: "Prajna Temple, turns out to mean Wisdom Temple."

The gentleman smiled and said, "That's the truth."

"Prajna can also be called wonderful wisdom. Wonderful wisdom is the supreme wisdom that contains the holy meaning of the unobstructed Dharma. It is the real great wisdom in the world. This is the wonderful use of great wisdom like ignorance, knowing nothing, and the true truth."

The husband was walking on the mountain path, but his thoughts didn't know where he was going.

Once upon a time, there was a monk who was wandering around. One day, it suddenly rained, and he hid in a butcher's shop nearby to take shelter from the rain.

After a while, a meat buyer came and said to the boss: "Cut me a pound of good meat. I want all lean meat, not fat."

The boss said: "Okay! All the meat I give you is lean meat." The buyer left with satisfaction.

After a while, another person came and said: "Boss, I want to buy a pound of fat meat for refining oil, not lean meat." The boss said, "Okay! I'll give you a knife of fat meat." This man also left satisfied.

Another person came and said, "Boss, I want a pound of fat and lean pork belly." The boss said, "Okay, I'll cut you a piece of good meat that's half fat and thin." The buyer also left satisfied.

The boss looked at the monk and said, "Look! Every piece of meat here is good."

After hearing this, the monk suddenly realized: Which part of this piece of pork is good and which is bad? It is entirely the heart of the meat buyer who makes the difference.

And this discriminating mind is the knowledge produced by the habits developed over many years.

If you have developed the habit of liking lean meat, you hate fat meat, so you say lean meat is good and fat meat is bad. His habit is to like eating fat meat, so he thinks lean meat is bad and fat meat is good.

As people often say: "Everyone likes radish and green vegetables." In fact, there is no good or bad distinction between lean meat and fat meat, radish and green vegetables.

The reason why there are good and bad things is entirely due to the delusions and opinions formed by people's living habits, likes and dislikes.

If habits are eliminated and delusions disappear, where will there be good and bad?

Li Ye walked behind his husband, quietly looking at the layers of red leaves in the mountains, with a faint gleam in his eyes.

Said: "The old master monk in the Great Buddha Temple said that if you recite the Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha with your whole heart, you will not think of the three poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance. Prajna is wonderful wisdom. Only when a single thought does not arise, can you respond to it, open up your true nature, and clearly see the Buddha's nature.

Buddhism is indeed profound and profound, and it seems that I will practice it seriously in Prajna Temple."

The husband didn't say anything because he knew that as his disciple, he didn't need much instruction from him.

As long as you give him a hint from time to time, you can make him understand more about the principles of cultivation and various principles in the world.

Li Ye, who was following the gentleman, suddenly said: "Sir, we have arrived at Prajna Temple."

When the teacher raised his eyes, he saw that the master and the apprentice were unconsciously talking in the mountains, and they had unknowingly bypassed the north slope and arrived at the gate of Prajna Temple on the south slope.

Looking up at the magnificent mountain gate and the Buddhist temple shining with golden light in the sun, I clasped my hands together.

He said softly: "After thousands of miles of practice, I finally came here."

"I see the Buddha again, his mind is empty." A Buddha's name came from the stone steps of the mountain gate.

Li Ye looked up and saw Monk Minghui whom he met on the road.

Master Minghui, dressed in gray monk robes, was seen holding a broom and standing on the stone steps of the mountain gate. He lowered his eyebrows and looked at the pious Li Ye, holding his hands and smiling.

Li Ye was stunned, looked at Master Minghui on the stone steps and blurted out: "With this wonderful benefit, I seek the supreme way. I have met Master Minghui."

The gentleman was stunned and looked at the two people, an old man and a young man, paying homage to the Buddha.

He was startled for a moment, then greeted Minghui with a smile and said, "Senior Brother Minghui, I brought my disciples here to practice. I wonder if the abbot is here?"

Minghui glanced at the gentleman and said: "The abbot has gone to the Buddhist capital and will not return until some time later. Just leave this boy to me and I will teach him the method of cultivation."

After speaking, he looked at Li Ye, who had his eyebrows lowered and his head lowered, and said with a smile: "What a wonderful person to use this wonderful favor to seek the supreme way! I didn't expect that at such a young age, you could be familiar with Buddhist scriptures. It's really rare."

The teacher thought for a while, looked at Li Ye next to him, and said calmly: "Ye'er, since you are destined to senior brother Minghui, then as a teacher, you will not stay in Prajna Temple. You can stay and practice well."

"What I should say is that I have already prepared a book for the abbot master in the temple. Brother Minghui will teach you the "Shadowless Dharmakaya" that you want to practice. I will turn back to Xuantian Temple now. If you are thinking about Mu Mu, I will pass

Bring her back here with your wife in a few days."

Li Ye was stunned. He didn't expect that when his husband arrived at the mountain gate, he didn't go in to have a cup of tea and turned around to leave. He felt very reluctant to leave.

Pulling on Mr.'s sleeve, his eyes were a little red, and he whispered: "I have received a lot of teachings from you, and I can't repay you in return. After I have settled down, I will go to Xuantian Temple to pay my respects to Mr. and his wife."

After speaking, he bent down and bowed deeply to his husband.

The husband and Master Minghui cupped their hands, looked at Li Ye in front of him, waved his hand and said: "Chier, it's not that we are far away, we are just practicing on the north slope with your wife. You don't need to be sad, just practice with the master."

After saying that, he turned around and hurried away in the direction of this slope.

...

Master Minghui looked at Li Ye's sad look and said calmly: "There are no two phases, just like the void. Life is full of separation. Didn't your old monk in the Great Buddha Temple teach you this truth?"

Li Ye raised his eyes and looked at Monk Minghui on the stone steps. He was startled. He clasped his hands together and said, "I want to eliminate chaos and take care of the mountains and forests! Although this disciple understands this truth, he still feels sad when he sees Mr. leave."

Minghui nodded and said: "As long as you understand this truth, you are not a monk, so there are some rules that you don't have to abide by. Whether you practice ruthlessly or have feelings, it's all up to you."

After saying that, he threw the broom in his hand to Li Ye and laughed loudly: "I have been sweeping the mountain gate for ten years, and I have long wanted to find someone to replace me. I didn't expect you to be here just now, which saves me a lot of trouble.

."

"In the days to come, the stone steps of the mountain gate and the square outside the main hall will be your place of practice. You can clean them carefully so as not to embarrass me."

Li Ye took the broom thrown by Ming Hui and was stunned. The old monk at Xindao Buddhist Temple really had the foresight and allowed me to practice for half a year in advance.

He has long understood that eating, sleeping, sweeping the floor and drinking tea is a kind of spiritual practice.

At that moment, he looked at Monk Minghui without sadness or joy and said, "Master, should I start practicing now?"

When he asked this question, Monk Minghui was stunned, thinking: Could this kid have already understood the principles of practice?

Looking at the little guy in front of me who couldn't see any sadness or joy, I was secretly frightened.

After thinking for a while, he said: "There is no rush today. I have already swept it in the morning. I will take you to find a place to stay. Let's start practicing in the mountains tomorrow."

After saying these words, he turned around and walked towards the main hall.

Li Ye, who was at the bottom of the stone steps, quickly climbed up the steps and followed Chen Hui. The two of them walked around the main hall and went to the back of the mountain.

Monk Minghui led Li Ye around several Buddhist temples and came to a small, dilapidated courtyard. He opened the door and walked in.

Li Ye followed him and frowned slightly, wondering if this was an agreement with the old monk in the Great Buddha Temple to give him a small courtyard to practice?

Looking at the state of disrepair in the yard, Minghui shook his head, wondering what the abbot senior brother was thinking of finding such a poor place for Li Ye to live.

I understood in my heart, but couldn't say it clearly in my mouth, so I had to laugh and said: "You are not a monk, but it is difficult to arrange for you to live with the monks in the temple. Although this courtyard is dilapidated, you can slowly clean it up, but it is a good place for practice."

."

Li Ye glanced at Ming Hui and thought to himself, you obviously don't think so in your heart, but you are talking extravagantly just to comfort me.

However, he didn't know that Li Ye was the least interested in finding a place to live. He remembered that he had built a wooden shed by himself in Tianshan, and although the courtyard in front of him was dilapidated, it was square and square and had everything it should have.

It’s not much different from the small courtyard that your husband has in Xuantianguan. Once you clean it up, you’ll have a place to rest when your husband and Mu Mu come.

"Thank you, Master Minghui, for the arrangement. This disciple is very satisfied." Li Ye clasped his hands together and saluted Minghui.

Then he said: "I wonder if I want to be like many senior brothers in the temple, who wake up to the chickens in the morning and go to the main hall to do all kinds of homework?"

Minghui was stunned for a moment. He didn't expect that Li Ye was actually satisfied with the poor courtyard in front of him, and he didn't expect that Li Ye had already practiced morning lessons with the old monk in the Great Buddha Temple.

"No need for the time being. You just need to get up on time and clean the area under your jurisdiction. You can continue to use the name Wuchen. I will tell the monks in charge of the temple. When the time comes, you will follow all the brothers.

, go to the dining hall to dine."

"We don't eat after lunch here. If you are hungry in the evening, you have to do it yourself. The food is cooked here."

Li Ye nodded and said with a smile: "Master, please rest assured that the disciple will do his duty in practicing. I also hope that the master can always teach the disciple to practice Buddhism, so that he can practice the follow-up mental method of "The Formless Dharmakaya" as soon as possible."

Monk Minghui rolled his eyes at Li Ye and said, "Don't you understand the principle of biting off more than you can chew? When you practice the sixth level of mental method to perfection, I will ask the abbot to teach you the subsequent mental method. You can rest assured

If you practice here, you will probably be able to practice for at least ten or eight years!"

After saying these words, he walked out of the yard with his hands behind his back.

As he walked, he said: "Senior brother, senior brother, in the next ten or eight years, I finally don't have to clean the mountain gate!"

When Li Ye in the yard heard Minghui's words, he almost dropped the broom in his hand and thought to himself, "Are you serious? Isn't it just sweeping the floor? It's not like I haven't swept it."

Looking at the small courtyard in front of him, he sighed softly, picked up the broom and started practicing in Prajna Temple.

After traveling thousands of miles to get here.

How could Li Yenu care about these external things?

"I don't know if the abbot is testing me."

He muttered a few words to himself and rolled up his sleeves. He wanted to clean up his living place first.

As for the dilapidated places, he couldn't be bothered. On Tianshan Mountain, he learned how to build wooden houses from his husband.
