Chapter two hundred and fifty sixth(1/2)
There was no sun and moon in the mountains, and it had been more than ten days since Li Ye arrived at Prajna Temple.
Except in the square in front of the hall, Master Minghui gave him the broom in his hand, he had never seen him. He was the only one who swept the floor while practicing.
Until the end of this day, Master Minghui came to the courtyard where Li Ye lived with half a bag of tea.
"Wuchen, hurry up and cook a pot of spring water, and I brought good tea here."
Before entering the door, Master Minghui's voice came to the outside of the yard, for fear that Li Ye would not hear it inside.
Li Ye, who was chopping wood in the kitchen, was stunned and thought to himself that this inexplicable wonder, Master Minghui actually had the intention to find him to have tea?
He responded loudly, let go of the axe in his hand, and washed the sweat stains on his face with the water in the basin.
Li Ye went into the house and took out the tea set and placed it on the stone table in the yard. He then moved two chairs to the table.
"How can the master have free time to come to my little yard to have tea today?"
Li Ye looked for some charcoal from the kitchen, put it under the table, took out the fire fold and started to make a fire.
"How do you guys talk? Didn't I see you alone in the temple and practiced alone, so I specially asked half of the flower tea from Qingcheng from the abbot to have tea with you?"
Master Minghui put down half of the bag of tea in his hand and fell on the chair Li Ye moved out, looking at Li Ye with a very unrealistic look.
Li Ye looked at Master Minghui's appearance and thought to himself, why are you also a senior monk in the temple? How could you fall on the chair so ignorantly without any image of the master?
Minghui looked at the flames gradually burning on the stone table, looked at Li Ye again, and smiled and said, "Do you think in your heart that I am not as majestic as a monk?"
Li Ye thought about it and shook his head and said, "The disciple is stupid and cannot understand what the master is thinking."
Minghui nodded at the master and looked at him and said, "You have observed you for a long time and saw you walking, sitting, and acting with appearances. This means that you have cultivated the essence of the first few levels of the "No-formed Dharma Body", and you are currently practicing the sixth level of "No-self" and I wonder if you have any ideas or confusion?"
Li Ye lowered his head, thought for a while, and replied softly: "Disciple is troubled by this matter recently. What is the appearance of selflessness? Do you have to be able to achieve the emptied ego? If you have no self, what should you do to practice? What should you do to recite scriptures every day?"
After hearing Li Ye's words, Master Minghui said without thinking: "Since you think that the more you have, the more you have, the more you have, if you can't even understand this principle, even if you practice until you are old, you will not be able to practice the sixth central method to perfection."
"The Buddha said that 'no self-image' is to make people unable to be proud. If a person becomes arrogant and proud, he has the self-image. The concept of 'no self' is not simply a benefit to others."
Li Ye was stunned and murmured: "So that's the case?"
Minghui glanced at him, nodded, and continued to say.
"You must be humble and cautious and not talk about self-image. Only by being truly 'no self' can you benefit others, be loyal and keep your trust. It is difficult to practice to reach the state of 'no self'. Once you reach this level, you will be a virtuous person and a Taoist person."
Li Ye sat at the table and shook his head again, as if he understood, but seemed not to fully understand.
Seeing Li Ye seemingly understand, Master Minghui couldn't help but shout: "Stop doubts and make faith, and make faith in the ultimate world! When practicing the "No Formless Dharma Body", the most important thing is "belief in life", that is, to develop incomparable faith in this sutra, completely believe, without any doubt."
"Stop doubts and make faith, and the supreme success of the sect?" Li Ye murmured.
"In this state, even if it is a blunt weapon at the lower level, it will soon become a sharp weapon at the upper level, and then practice to a higher level of mental method."
Minghui looked at him and said in a voice, as if she wanted to speak into his heart.
When Li Ye, who was taking out the tea leaves and put them in the pot, he felt like an egg broke out in his heart.
I thought that since I practiced with my husband, whether it was on the Tianshan Mountains, in the Great Buddha Temple, and later went down the mountain to return to Fengyun City, or even left my hometown to the Central Region, I had to practice according to Buddhism.
It turns out that what Master Minghui said about "no self" is the purpose of being a human being that he has always adhered to.
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but feel a little proud in my heart and a smile appeared on my face.
"The water on the stove is boiling, and you can make tea! When eating, when drinking tea, you are thinking about something messy!"
Monk Minghui looked at Li Ye's secretly proud look, snatched his lips and roared.
Li Ye was shocked when he heard Minghui's loud scolding and looked up at the boiling water on the fire.
I couldn't help but say, "Master, I'm anxious to eat hot tofu."
"You kid dares to talk back, you can do it! Hurry up, don't waste such good tea!"
The monk Minghui smiled and said.
"I was secretly happy after being taught by the master. I didn't want you to yell loudly and cut off my chance of enlightenment. I want you to compensate me for this."
Li Ye replied while warming up the pot, washing tea and cups.
Unexpectedly, Master Minghui glared at him and said, "I have thoughts for an opportunity to enlightenment. Are you obsessed with appearance again? I just taught you how to be without form."
Li Ye, who was pouring tea into the cup, was stunned for a moment and blurted out: "The Buddha said that all appearances are false. Master, you are attached to my attachment to appearance. Are you also attached to appearances?"
Master Minghui was smelling the rising fragrance of flowers and tea. When he heard Li Ye’s reply, he was shocked, but he did not reply immediately.
I just put the picked teacup on my lips and blew it gently, tasted it lightly, and then smiled with satisfaction.
Seeing that he didn't say anything, Li Ye raised his glass to taste tea.
After tasting it a few times, I sighed: "I never expected that the spring tea before the Ming Dynasty would only add a few jasmine flowers to make love unforgettable. It seems that it is really difficult to achieve the 'selfless appearance', let alone the more difficult 'colorless sound, smell, taste, touch and method'."
Master Minghui drank all the tea in the cup, gently tapped the stone table, and smiled proudly.
Looking at him, he said, "Hurry up and add tea! It is really rare that you can understand the truth of having form but not having form from the tea you cook. Judging from the blessings you have grown deep in the roots of your blessing, this half bag of tea will be placed here for you. I will come to you when I want to drink it."
When Li Ye heard this, he almost fell on the table with the tea cup in his hand, and thought to himself, wasn’t it just half a bag of tea?
It's so mysterious that I can ask Mu Mu to take a look when he goes to the Buddha Capital. Maybe he can buy a few packs to go up the mountain.
He thought to himself, but he didn't say it out loud. He just looked at Minghui and smiled, saying, "Master, when will the abbot of the temple be back? The disciple has not yet thanked him in person."
"How can I know the whereabouts of my senior brother? I will tell me the same as if you have any thanks. Whether he returns to the temple or not has much to do with you."
"Why do you say this?" Li Ye couldn't help frowning at the moment of hearing this.
"...I know you are thinking about the subsequent mental method of "The Unformed Dharma Body". Here I can tell you that as long as you practice the sixth level to perfection, I will pass on the seventh level of mental method to you immediately, and I will never speak nonsense!"
Monk Minghui glared at him and replied with a smile.
Li Ye was delighted, and his hand holding the teapot couldn't help but shake for a while. He paused for a while before continuing to add hot tea to Minghui.
After calming down the teapot, he put his hands together and said excitedly: "Disciple thanks for the master's care."
Master Minghui waved his hand, curled his mouth, picked up the tea in front of him, and sipped in the shallow Shenzhen.
He said softly: "Manjushri Bodhisattva said that there are many obstacles on the road of practice. As long as you always remember the original intention of practicing, you should continue to drink the flower tea in your cup.
When Li Ye heard this, he couldn't help but murmur: "Don't forget your original intention?"
Master Minghui looked at Li Ye in a daze, thought for a while, and said, "What was your original intention of practicing Taoism with your husband?"
"Practice the Tao with sentient beings, and sentient beings with the Tao. This is the mood when I first met Mr.!"
Li Ye looked at the heat in the kettle on the stove on the table, but his mind flew to the north slope of the mountain and Mu Mu."
"Practice the path of sentient beings? This original intention is a bit different from the monks in the five realms. Nowadays, most of the practitioners in the five realms practice the path of ruthlessness. Just like the five people in black who you and I met at the junction of the three realms, they practice the path of ruthlessness."
When Li Ye heard this, he nodded.
"I am very self-reliant and I have paid much less on the road of practicing than monks who practice sentient beings. It seems that the many difficulties you encounter on the road of practicing can also be explained."
Minghui looked at Li Ye quietly and couldn't help but sigh.
Li Ye was stunned by Master Minghui who was sighing. After a moment of silence, he subconsciously picked up the teapot and added water to Minghui.
Thinking that he had just said what he said in his heart, he couldn't figure out why the master actually showed a worried look.
The Buddha clearly said that troubles are Bodhi, but he is trying hard to slowly resolve all the troubles he encountered.
Li Ye's expression was not much calmer than Ming Hui. He stared at the gradually withered branches outside the yard wall.
I wondered if I wanted to go to the forest in the mountains to pick up some dry firewood to prepare for the winter, and how to make the master monk in front of me happy.
Because of the previous topic, Master Minghui seemed a little interested.
He drank all the tea cup, brushed his sleeves gently, stood up, waved his hand and walked out of the yard.
Pushing open the door of the courtyard, he suddenly turned around and said to Li Ye, "After doing the homework in the temple, you have to go to the mountains to pick up some dry firewood and prepare to get warm in winter. After all, you live here alone."
Li Ye felt warm and stood up and replied, "Thank you for your concern. I will pick up more dry wood and go back to the house and wait for the winter to cook tea for the master."
Master Minghui nodded, did not reply, and closed the opened courtyard door and left Li Ye's residence with his hands behind his back.
Li Ye looked stunned, frowned and said, "Just leave like this?"
I still had many questions but did not ask for advice, but Master Minghui waved his hand and left the courtyard without taking away a piece of tea.
Watching the gradually rising autumn wind blowing over the courtyard and making a whimpering sound, he lowered his head and drank all the tea in his cup.
He said softly: "I just finished drinking three dishes of tea and left. Should I be so particular? At worst, I can cook another dish."
There is form but no form, it is all in one thought.
Unexpectedly, monks like Master Minghui would inevitably be attached to appearances.
He looked up at the lightly hidden courtyard gate and thought to himself that he was really going to go to the woods in the back mountain to pick up firewood.
Since he practiced with his husband, although he encountered countless confusions along the way, he solved a lot with the care of the old monk in the Great Buddha Temple and gradually understood some truths. Unexpectedly, when he came to Fangcunshan, there were new troubles waiting for him.
"How to explain? How to deal with it?" He was thinking about what he said, thinking about how he would speak in the future so that he would not hurt others, just like Ming Hui in front of him.
But what he didn't understand was that he had walked a long way now, beyond Minghui's estimate of him, so he pushed the door open angrily.
I have been practicing hard for decades, but I am not as good as a young man who has just entered Buddhism. How can he handle himself?
The Buddha said that there are no discrimination minds, and there are many people who understand, but how many people really do it?
To be continued...
