Chapter 928 Warning

Carmire's statement made Gao Wen unable to help but show a contemplative expression.

He had heard some racial culture and traditions about Siren from Tyre, so he was no stranger to the concept of "Eva".

Unlike most races on land, Siren has not had any concept of the realm of "gods" since ancient times. They do not worship any gods, nor do they think that there is an absolutely transcendent individual who is a kind of creator/savior/guide. In their cultural system, the only "god" similar to the land race is "Eva". However, they never think that Eva is a god. Tyre spent a long time explaining to Gowen what Eva is, because this is a very difficult concept for the land race. After listening to Tyre's introduction, Gowen summarized the most important key point:

Eva is a collection of all the Sirens. They regard their entire race as a whole, just like a large number of cells gathering together, which gives their huge and complex cell aggregate a name, called human.

This strange worldview is probably related to their "deep sea belonging" culture, that is, all things originate from the deep sea, all things return to the deep sea, and all things gather into one in the deep sea.

Therefore, the Siren does not have, and will never have the concept of worshiping gods - the greatest and extraordinary existence in their minds, that is, a super-large Siren.

In Gao Wen's opinion, the Siren are probably a wonderful race that maintains individual will but also recognizes the world like a swarm of insects.

He frowned slightly and looked at Carmier: "You mean, the reason why the song of the deep sea and the runes of the deep sea can produce mental protection is because it essentially mobilizes the power of 'Eva', is it that 'Eva' helping us fight divine pollution?"

"It's very likely." Carmier nodded.

Gao Wen still frowned: "But what is the reason why the Siren's 'Eva' can fight divine pollution?"

"About this... I just mentioned that for our 'gods', the essence of 'Eva' may be equivalent to being an 'external god'," Carmier said slowly, "You should remember Miss Tyre once said in person that she and her tribe were not the primitive residents of our planet, they came from a place that was completely different from our planet's environment."

"I remember," Gao Wen nodded, "and I heard her describe the tools used by Siren to come to this world, which were very similar to some kind of 'spaceship' that could be used to cross long distances among stars - just like the 'star boat' imagined by star craftsmen and scholars in the ancient Gondor era. But it is obvious that the scale of that thing is countless times larger than the starry sky vehicle that anthropologists imagined seven hundred years ago."

Carmire nodded slowly: "Yes, some kind of aircraft used to cross the stars, it sounds like the Siren comes from another planet, but I have talked with Miss Tyre several times recently. I heard her describe the situation in her hometown and the troubles that Siren encounters in this world... I have a bolder guess."

Gao Wen raised his eyebrows: "A bolder guess?"

"The Siren have experienced a very long 'adaptation period' on our planet. They even lost their bodies for a while and carried out 'reunited' at the bottom of the sea for countless years to regain their ability to move... This has exceeded the concept of 'the natural environments of the two planets'. Considering the impact of the innate immune tide of elemental organisms, the problem they encountered should not be some kind of 'demonic tide sequelae'. Therefore... I guess they may come from a place even more 'distant' than we imagined, and even far away...even the basic laws of the world are different."

Gao Wen's face suddenly became serious: "Continue talking."

"If it is really because of the different basic laws that the Siren is "incompatible" with our world, then their "Eva" must be the same. In their world, there may be no so-called "divine pollution" or "chains of faith" and no "spiritual seals". In this case, the "Eva" born in this situation may be a god who has "already" free from the bondage... No, strictly speaking, it should be a "god-like individual", because their "Eva" will not receive prayers at all, nor will it produce any feedback on faith, and it will not be able to establish a substantial connection with believers...

"If the above conjecture is true, then the effects of the song of the deep sea and the runes of the deep sea are explained: they direct pollution to a 'rule anomaly'. There was a proverb in the ancient Gondor period, 'The current flood cannot rush away the feathers of the underworld', because the two are not on the same dimension, and the pollution of our world... obviously cannot affect an individual in a foreign land."

"The pollution in our world cannot affect individuals in foreign lands..." Gao Wen thought quickly, and gradually questioned, "But one thing, the song of the deep sea and those runes can in turn affect people in our world - isn't that kind of spiritual excitement a tangible impact?"

"We are still analyzing this, but Miss Jenny has a guess," said Carmier. "She thinks that the pleasure and excitement we feel in the song of the deep sea and the runes of the deep sea may not be affected by the spirit of 'Eva', which may be a byproduct of some kind of 'building a connection'..."

"By the product of establishing a connection?" Gao Wen looked at Jenny, who was not talking much next to him, "What connection?"

"The 'connection' between siren," Jenny replied immediately, and then explained her views while sorting out the language. "Siren is an elemental creature. Although it may be an elemental creature from the 'another world', they also have similar characteristics to the elemental creatures in our world, that is 'resonance', which is a phenomenon that pure elements will inevitably arise after getting close to each other. I have also confirmed from Miss Tyre that siren can feel the emotions of the same tribe to a certain extent, and this emotional resonance will be more obvious when communicating with the song of the deep sea or the 'tenal twisting dance'..."

Gao Wen wanted to stay serious throughout the whole process, but he still couldn't hold it tight: "What is tentacle twisting dance..."

"...This is Miss Tyre's original words," Jenny's expression was also a bit strange, "It's just that she turned into a bunch of tentacles and twisted with her fellow tribes..."

"Okay, don't explain it, just understand the meaning roughly," Gao Wen waved his hand and interrupted the other party. "In short, there is a relatively basic 'telomatic sense' between the siren. Although it cannot directly transmit information like the spiritual network, it can allow the siren to share emotions - so those runes and singing..."

He said as he looked at Jenny, who nodded: "Yes, those runes and songs brought us into the 'collective emotions' of the Siren - the excitement and pleasure felt by the users did not come from the 'positive mental pollution' of Eva, but just... felt the good mood of the Siren."

Gao Wen was stunned for a moment, and suddenly subconsciously pressed his forehead: "So those deep-sea salted fish are always so happy..."

"We can now explain why there are sequelae such as 'squid fanatic' after long-term exposure to deep-sea runes," Carmier said, spreading his hand, "this is also the result of emotional resonance."

Gao Wen nodded slowly, gradually sorting out the guesses between Carmier and Jenny. Then he suddenly thought of one thing: "If the runes and singing ability to resist pollution comes from the sirens's 'incompatible' with this world, does this mean that if the sirens completely adapt and integrate into this world, this resistance will disappear? Now Eva has occupied the throne of the God of Storm, and the sirens are obviously gradually adapting to this world!"

"To be honest, this possibility cannot be ruled out," Carmier said in a serious tone. "The 'adaptation' of the Siren may cause them to lose a unique 'advantage', which is indeed a somewhat contradictory and ironic possibility. But I don't think this will be so simple, at least not happening in a short period of time.

"First of all, there is obvious evidence: the sirens, the 'race', has occupied the throne of the God of Storm, and their 'Eva' has now become the storm god, and has a large number of 'Naga's' as believers, but neither ordinary sirens nor their 'Eva' have shown any divine pollution, which shows that their 'adaptation' and 'pollution' is not a simple exchange relationship.

"Secondly, even if the Siren adapt to the rules of our world, it does not mean that they are exactly the same as the primitive residents of our world. The adaptability of organisms changes according to the circular environment. Only environmental factors that actually affect survival will cause the adaptive evolution of organisms. Whether "Eva" produces divine pollution obviously does not affect the daily survival of Siren. Therefore, the most likely situation is that the Siren will eventually adapt to the environment of our world, but their "Eva" will not change any - because the laws of nature cannot affect it."

Gao Wen nodded slowly while listening. He agreed with Carmier's theory, but in the end he still said with a serious expression: "Even so, we must be prepared."

"Yes, always plan for the worst," Carmier said in a deep voice. "The protection 'borrowed' from Sirens is likely to fail, and even if it is not possible, we cannot put all our hopes on Sirens - although they are indeed reliable and friendly allies, as you said, 'Others' after all'. Moreover, we cannot only have a deck of cards in our hands."

"So, your progress in mental protection systems is crucial, which brings us more possibilities," Gao Wen nodded slightly and spoke slowly. "Only by understanding enough in principle, we can develop our own mental protection technology, and at the same time avoid the impact of the technology black box... This is particularly important in the last point."

While speaking, he sighed softly, his tone was full of worries: "Now our mental protection technology is based on the deep-sea rune. In the long run, it actually points to an "unidentified individual". If we cannot explain it technically, it is likely to arouse people's awe of mysterious and unknown forces, and then produce some kind of "worshiping thoughts". Although this possibility is very small, we must also avoid any possibility in this regard."

Gao Wen's reminder obviously gave the greatest warning to Carmier, the former disobedient. The light flowing on the latter's body was slightly still for a moment. Then the arcane master lowered his head, with a hint of awe in his tone: "Yes, we will definitely keep it in mind."

Gao Wen nodded, then took a look at the holographic projection floating in the laboratory and the technicians busy everywhere.

"It is necessary for us to synchronize this information to our Siren allies - although they may have long realized that they are 'incompatible' with the world and are also studying 'adaptation', we must be frank enough."

Carmire and Jenny said in unison: "Yes, your majesty."

Gao Wen exhaled and looked at Carmier: "Next, let's talk about... things related to God. I got a lot of information from Amoen."

...

Hetty sat in her office, and the Magic Net terminal set up beside him was operating silently, and the printing device connected to the Magic Net terminal was spitting out words from afar.

The Empire's chief druid Pittman sat on a chair not far from her.

"Mages have begun to report the situation of the magic goddess' loss of contact to the extraordinary affairs departments of the government affairs department in various places," Hetty took the report spit out of the printer, looked at the general content at the beginning, shook his head and whispered, "Although most of the mages are shallow believers of the magic goddess or even pan-believers, and there are no particularly pious and fanatical believers, the god's loss of contact still makes many people feel uneasy."

"If this state of unknown intelligence continues for a while, they will be even more uneasy," Pittman said casually. "Thinking about it carefully, they are just feeling uneasy now, and this is the best situation."

"We will announce the news soon," Hetty put down the report. "According to the ancestors' wishes, we will hold a top-level mage meeting, and then directly announce the news that the "magic goddess has fallen for unknown reasons"... and then rely on public opinion guidance and a series of official activities to gradually divert everyone's attention and allow the incident to transition smoothly... But I am still worried that there will be too much chaos."

"There will inevitably be a certain degree of chaos and turmoil. Don't think that this can be avoided--the goddess of magic is gone. We can't, and we are definitely unwilling to create another one out of thin air to calm people's hearts," Pittman waved his hand. "Only publishing the news may be the quickest and most effective method. At this time, what we need is fast. Everyone needs an answer. Even if the answer is bad, as long as the subsequent official announcement and public opinion guidance can keep up, all this can be successfully completed after a chaotic but short process."

As he said that, the old druid smiled and added a few words: "And don't underestimate the adaptability and acceptance of human beings too much... The fall of White Star three thousand years ago caused a greater impact than today. The druids were not shallow believers like mages, but hasn't everything ended smoothly?
