352. A letter from home

Seeing three boxes, Billy asked cautiously: "Where did you find this?"

Qin Shiou didn't want to hide it from Billy. He noticed when he was visiting the Titanic last night that many things on the ship had nameplates with the words "-star-line". As the owner of the Titanic, Baixing Company brought his figure to every corner of the ship.

Even if Qin Shiou didn't say it, Billy could think of the source of these things when he saw the mark of Baixing Company.

Because the Titanic is the only treasure-like shipwreck of White Star Company. Later, the company was acquired by the ImM International Maritime Company of the American chaebol Junius Pierpont Morgan, and the logo of all ships was changed to ImM.

So Qin Shiou said, "This is a Titanic thing. My little white whale has recently gone there and brought me these things back."

"Titanic?" Billy was surprised, "Can your little white whale bring out what's inside? God, do you know the value of Shenbao inside? Our company once evaluated its value in 2008 with four major salvage companies, at least 20 billion, US dollars!"

Qin Shiou said impatiently: "What's the use? The little white whale is too big and cannot enter many places. Even if it enters, it cannot bring it all out. Don't forget that it is just a whale."

"Smart whale." Billy said enthusiastically, "I love it so much."

The argon filling chamber is not to directly flush argon gas, but to first fill it with nitrogen to adjust. Qin Shiou operated, and soon the nitrogen was released from 200 small holes and filled the warehouse evenly as soon as possible.

When the nitrogen concentration in the box reaches the set value, the system will automatically cut off the nitrogen supply, and argon starts to be released, and Billy will open these boxes.

He first carefully opened the small box that was only the size of a TV box. After opening it, there were some exquisite letter paper, gold wire edging, and patina.

After seeing this, Billy began to explain to Qin Shiou: "This letter must have been written by a rich man. This kind of paper was launched by the Xip Paper Factory in 1890. It has patina around it, so it will not be easily torn apart. It is generally used to record important events."

Billy opened the letter paper with gloves and found the signature with a line of flowing letters: nathan-straus.

Seeing this name, Billy was stunned. He turned his head and said, "Nathan Strauss, we won't be so lucky, right?"

"Is this Nathan Strauss' letter to? Who did you give?" Qin Shiou was also stunned.

Who is Nathan Strauss? One of his more awesome identity is the founder of the famous American chain "Maysey's Department Store".

When the department store opened on 7th Avenue in 1924, it was once advertised as the "world's largest store". Although it is average in scale, it also has more than 1,000 chain stores, and it ranks 417th in the recent Fortune World 500 rankings.

But it was the Titanic that really made Mr. Nathan Straus famous all over the world. At that time, he and his wife were on this boat. When the boat hit the iceberg, Mrs. Straus was immediately sent to the No. 8 lifeboat. At the same time, a sailor told Mr. Straus, 67, that "we think you can get on the boat in advance, and no one will object to the old man who has a good reputation as a philanthropist like you, on the boat..."

Later, someone recalled that after receiving the guarantee from the sailor, Mr. Strauss replied firmly: "I will never get on the lifeboat before another man. As the captain swears, the children and women will leave first."

Seeing that her husband was unwilling to get on the boat, Mrs. Strauss, who had already got on the boat, also changed her mind and came back to be with Mr. Strauss, saying, "For so many years, we have lived together, and I will go where you go!"

In this way, she gave her place in the boat to a young maid and gave her fur coat to the maid. She said, "I will never need it anymore, I hope it can help you through this cold night!"

Then, an old couple walked to the rattan chair on the deck and sat down, and spent the last moment peacefully with their hands tightly clasped.

This plot is also shown in Cameron's "Titanic" movie, and is one of the most moving plots in the movie. The New York Times once selected this incident into the "Ten True Things in History that Best Showcases Gentlemanly and Masculinity".

It is conceivable that if this letter was really written by Nate Straus on the Titanic, it would be so valuable!

Because of the good sealing and the addition of the argon filling chamber, the content on the letter paper is very clear. Billy and Qin Shiou's heads are put together to look at it, and the more you look, the more you are more surprised.

Judging from the content, this is indeed a letter from Strauss, and it is also a letter from his family. This is a letter from him to his second son Richard Strauss who was developing markets in London at the time, and he was about to mail it as soon as he set foot in New York. Unfortunately, as the Titanic hit the iceberg, the letter sank into the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean with his master.

In the letter, Strauss told his second son that "the United States has a developed economy and has great potential. Although the world focuses on Europe, it must pay more attention to the US market. This is the real buyer's market, etc.".

There are eight pages of letter paper, which is very magical. It seems that he predicted that his life will be near. In this letter, he also talked about how to develop the retail industry through his life. From the background information of the product, the appearance of the product, the composition of the product, the manufacturing process, the use of the product, the serviceability and durability of the product, the protection and use of the product, the history and policies of the price and type of the company, and the competitive product, how to develop the retail industry.

After reading this letter, Billy looked at Qin Shiou and asked, "This is a very important letter to home. How can we deal with it?"

Qin Shiou thought for a while and said, "Let's put it aside for now, continue to look down to see what's in the other two boxes."

The LED ultra-high-bright digital display shows that the temperature, humidity and gas density of the argon filling chamber are now suitable for the protection of paper materials, so Billy puts the letter paper aside and opens the largest box.

This is a heavy safe, but now it has been decayed. It is better to open the box with a pry-bar and then a bunch of gray and black blocks of large and small.

Billy crushed it and looked at it and sniffed it, guessing: "This seems to be activated charcoal. It was very popular for oil paintings a hundred years ago. The desiccant for the statue should have a work of art inside."

As he said, he cleaned up the activated carbons, which may have been powdered before, now they have condensed into blocks. Cleaned to the middle, a scroll carefully packaged with plastic film appears in the box.

Billy became more careful and opened the plastic film and a thick linen appeared inside. So he was sure and said, "This is an oil painting, activated carbon and plastic film and linen, it must be an oil painting..."
