274. Principals

"The fundamental purpose of this attack was not to cleanse blood, nor to target me. He wanted to transfer our implementation and then invade the principal's office."

Lynn and Dumbledore walked into the entrance to the principal's office and went up the spiral staircase.

Dumbledore didn't speak, he looked calm, not as if he was worried that something would be lost in the principal's office.

On the eighth floor, the door of the principal's office was wide open. Looking around, it was messy inside, and all kinds of things were thrown on the ground. The invaders did not hide their intention to come here to find something.

Dumbledore and Lynn stopped in front of the principal's office at the same time and did not go in as soon as possible.

There was a faint flame slowly burning on the branch where Fox was located.

Not long after, the flames dissipated, and an ugly bird with feathers was standing on the branch with anger.

It had just been apparently killed once, and it had just finished its resurrection when Lynn and Dumbledore came.

In addition to the resurrected Fox, who thought that the branch hat that had been staying on the chair was thrown roughly on the floor, there was an upside-down silver basin beside the bookshelf, and various parchment papers on the desk were scattered everywhere in the room. The portraits of Hogwarts' previous principals hanging on the wall also disappeared. One of them seemed to be attacked, and a large hole was burned out in the middle, revealing the charred wall behind.

"Is there anything missing to professor?"

They made sure that there was no one hidden inside and walked in. Dumbledore waved his wand to restore all the messy things to their original position, and at the same time repaired the damaged frame.

Dumbledore shook his head when he heard Lynn's words.

"No, nothing is missing." He said, and walked to the silver basin placed in the cabinet. "There is no less, but the thoughts may be peeked at."

Lynn looked at the silver basin, and in order to confirm that he had some speculation, he asked, "Is this a meditation basin?"

"Yes, I often keep some important memories in an alchemy prop."

Dumbledore shook his head again as he said, "The murderer doesn't seem to be here specifically for it. But after I left the principal's office, there was no time enough for him to see anything. If his target was really this basin, he should have stolen it directly."

Lin En looked around the entire principal's office and said in confusion: "So what did he want to do after spending so much effort to sneak into the principal's office?"

Dumbledore also walked around the whole room, and then stopped in front of Fox, who had just resurrected and looked ugly.

Fox looked very angry. It said a phoenix language to Dumbledore with a "whimper" and Dumbledore nodded slightly.

"It was sneak attacked, and it was petrified by the Basilisk without seeing the human face, until now it is resurrected."

Although Lynn didn't understand bird singing, he must have said more than just these words after hearing Fox's "心" for such a long paragraph. It is estimated that Dumbledore omitted all its swear words.

At this moment, a sneaky old man suddenly appeared in the photo frame hanging on the wall. He carefully observed the situation in the principal's office and shouted after seeing Dumbledore.

"Abus! Why did you come back? Do you know I was almost burned by someone just now?"

It was an old wizard with a smart face and a goatee, and his words sounded quite rough.

Dumbledore calmly returned to his seat and said to him: "Phoenas, call Dalis and the others back, it's safe here."

"They sent me to explore the way." Phineas muttered and left the photo frame of the principal's office. Not long after, the principals who were temporarily taking refuge returned to the picture frame of the principal's office.

"Oh! Oh my god! This is so scary. A black wizard invaded the principal's office!"

"This is an unprecedented event in a thousand years. You must pay attention to Albus!"

"He flipped around here, and so was the big snake, staring beside it, and no one of us dared to stare into its eyes."

"Even if we have turned into a portrait, we cannot avoid it."

"Pineas just yelled at the dark wizard a few words, and he almost burned him!"

The principals talked to Dumbledore about what happened in the principal's office. They all seemed to be in lingering fear and seemed very uneasy about what happened.

Dumbledore stopped them from talking together and called out the name of a kind-looking female principal.

"Dalice, have you seen the invader's face?"

Dalis shook his head with a frown: "I'm sorry Albus, he didn't show his face, but he should be a witch in his voice."

"Then have you noticed what he is looking for?"

"As soon as he came in, he spoke to let us out, Phineas roared at him, and then he seemed tired of attacking the portrait, and we had to escape from here for a while, not sure if he had found what he was looking for."

Dumbledore was disappointed that he did not perform, as if he had expected it.

"Pineas." He called out the name of the rough old man who came in at the beginning.

"I'm here, I've been there all the time," Phineas responded.

"Please ask the portraits everywhere in the castle, and ask them if they have seen where the big snake appeared. For the safety of Hogwarts, we must catch this snake monster."

"Okay, I'll go and have a look now."

Phineas disappeared from his portrait and the principal's office fell into silence again.

Lynn kept observing Dumbledore's expression, feeling like he had discovered something.

"Professor, do you know the purpose of the invader's infiltrating the principal's office?"

Dumbledore gently tapped the table with his index finger and thought for a moment.

"I did have some speculations, but sorry Lynn, it's about the secrets that have been protected by all generations. I can't tell you these things unless you take over my position."

Lynn could understand what Dumbledore said. Such an ancient academy must have its own secret. If it weren't for Lynn, would he have doubted what Dumbledore had hidden from him.

"Has that invader succeeded?"

Dumbledore's eyes became a little deeper, and he said softly.

"As far as he seems to have not succeeded, he just doesn't know which thing he is looking for."
