Chapter 382 Progress of No. 10 Project
In later generations, Chen Fei had been working on it for so long and was very popular. But in fact, the J-11 and J-15 still used the original analog telex, and did not create digital telex at all. The important thing is not the hardware, but the flight control rate. Without thoroughly understanding a fighter, it is impossible to achieve ease of modification.
Cheng Fei has been using his strength to develop digital telex, which has become a huge progress.
Now, if the power of Xifei cannot do the imitation of Tomcat, you can contact Cheng Fei to solve it together. In short, Mhamad is unwilling to deal with Chen Fei.
"Yes, it seems that the burden of Xifei and Chengfei has to be heavier." Deng Gong said: "I really want to go to Chengfei No. 10 project immediately, how is it going."
Cheng Fei also undertakes key national projects. While Shenyang Fei was still repairing and repairing the J-82, Cheng Fei had already started to develop the third-generation fighter jet.
In later generations, this type of fighter still progressed slowly, especially in the case of severe lack of engines. In the 1990s, after Su-27 was equipped in China, the Al-31f engine was used to allow the test flight work to continue. From the project was established in 1984 to the first flight in 2002, this project was carried out for twenty years! And after this fighter was equipped with troops, the fourth-generation American aircraft had also entered the army. After the J-10 began to serve, Cheng Fei immediately began the development of the next project.
Now, due to the influence of Pakistan, this fighter jet has received high attention from the central government.
An exercise conducted by Mhamad at home allowed those senior military officials to see what modern air combat is. The method of relying on long-range air-to-air missiles under the command of early warning aircraft will become the main way in the future. Air bayonets have fallen behind, and equipment has become an important factor in determining the war!
Project No. 10 is of great significance, and now, relying on good relations with the West, Cheng Fei can obtain some Western equipment and technology to speed up the development of fighter jets.
Now, it is the third year of the development of the No. 10 Project.
The J-10 in later generations mainly lacked one is advanced radar and fire control system. The other is engine, among which the engine is the most critical. After all, it is the crown of the aviation industry. It has been developed in China for so many years and has had multiple models, but none of them was finally put into use, which shows the degree of difficulty.
Now, both of these problems have been solved. With Cheng Fei's independent efforts, there are also awg-9, apg-66.apg-71. These advanced radars are used for Cheng Fei to imitate. They have completely broken through the technical barriers and developed advanced plane gap radars. They only need to replace the imported foreign civilian components into components designed and manufactured by themselves that meet military standards.
Another engine project has already been selected, which is the TF-41 engine. It has stable performance and low fuel consumption. Moreover, the maximum afterburner thrust reaches 110,000 N, which can fully promote the project engine of Project No. 10.
The final task left for Cheng Fei is the development of the fuselage. From the early J-9 project, Cheng Fei began to constantly contact the duck-style layout, and he had thoroughly understood the aerodynamics, and with the full support of the country, the project progressed rapidly.
Back then, due to the competition with Chen Fei for project establishment, it took several years, and then it started to improve and develop. Cheng Fei chose the engine Turbojet 15, but until the early 1990s, the turbojet 15 was still under trial production of components and the formal modeling was nowhere to be long before the engine was formally established. The project might be scrapped again. At this time, the Air Force planned to introduce the first batch of Su 27s from Russia. Therefore, General Zhang Aiping, the then Minister of Defense, proposed that since he bought the Su 27, he might as well buy more al31f engines and replace the J-10.
For the progress of the J-10, in 1992, Song Wencong, as a plenipotentiary representative, went to Russia to negotiate the introduction of the Al31f. In order to adapt to the J-10, the Al31f made several improvements, such as changing the receiver attachment to the bottom, etc. The improved model was called the Al31fn. Since then, the J-10 has a new heart.
However, in order to adapt to the new al31fn, the J-10 almost started again. The originally designed simple elliptical intake can no longer meet the needs. The high-altitude performance of the turbofan engine is far inferior to that of the turbojet, so it is improved to a rectangular adjustable intake to ensure the flight performance at various altitudes and speeds. Since the al31fn is much longer than the turbojet 15, the rear fuselage needs to be extended, the center of gravity of the entire machine needs to be re-matched and adjusted, and the chord length of the main wing root is greatly increased. As a result, the progress of the first ten years has been almost in vain.
Now, the development of J-10 has not taken any detours. The TF-41 engine has been determined, and the biggest problem has been solved. In addition, Cheng Fei has accumulated a lot of experience in the J-9 project, after these three years of design, all the design work has begun to freeze, and the first all-metal prototype has been built.
When Mhamad and Deng Gong entered Chengfei, the first thing they did was to go and watch the all-metal prototype.
A prototype is a sample made before the formal manufacture of a fighter jet, in order to reduce certain possible problems, such as assembly, etc. Some of the components may still be under development and will be replaced by wooden blocks. Although it is just a prototype, many problems can be found.
Mhamad looked at the prototype in front of him, with medium-range coupling and large-area canards. This is the aerodynamic layout of a typical third-generation and a half-generation fighter jet. Cheng Fei has accumulated a lot of experience in this regard.
The bubble cockpit has an integrated windshield, abdomen air intake, and a rectangular air intake. There were no reinforcement ribs at this time. Later generations have won the title of stick because of these reinforcement ribs.
Mhamad was very interested. When he sat in the prototype, he saw the dashboard in front, which was mainly mechanical instruments, and the densely packed instruments made people feel uncomfortable at first sight. Mhamad couldn't help but shake his head.
"Mr. Song, why don't you use a vitrified cockpit?" Mhamad asked Chief Engineer Song Wencong.
In this era, glass cockpits have not yet emerged. For example, the F-14 is almost all instruments. The F-16a equipped in Pakistan has begun to adopt a "one flat and two-shot" layout due to its later development. The head-up display is smaller in size, and there is also a video recorder in the middle. There is a large LCD display on the left to display external object information, a radar screen in the middle or a cathode ray tube. There are a large number of traditional instruments in the middle and right of the instrument panel, including speedometers, horizons, angle of attack indicators, level indicators, etc. Although this display interface of one flat and two-shot is very different from the later generations, which are almost all large LCD screens, after all, it is already a trend.
In later generations, when the J-10 first flew, there was already an LCD monitor, but that was already 98 years after all. Now, it is only 86 years old. Cheng Fei dared not be so advanced and used LCD monitors to replace traditional instruments.
Hearing Mhamad's question, Song Wencong smiled bitterly: "Our current LCD monitors are not clearly visible under strong light. In battle, once the sunlight shines into the cockpit, the monitor may be invalid.
The domestic LCD displays did not start late. In the early 1980s, monochrome tn-lcd began to appear, mainly used in medical equipment and computer output equipment. However, the performance of this kind of monitor is not ideal. It was not until a few years later that the stn-lcd display technology was mastered that LCD displays began to become increasingly popular.
When Mhamad heard Song Wencong's words, he immediately realized that this was not an era in later generations and LCD displays were so popular, but he still had a way.
"We in Pakistan are about to produce the latest LCD monitors, which can fully meet the requirements," said Mhamad.
Toshiba has many good things. In addition to those mechanical equipment, Mhamad has also introduced some electronics industries, including the production line of this type of LCD display.
"That's great. It can make our cockpit simpler. Our fighter jet is aimed at advanced fighter jets from the West. Ergonomic engineering cannot be lagging behind the West." Song Wencong said.
Cheng Fei is now full of confidence and wants to create such a fighter.
Mr. Deng also looked at the fighter plane with great interest. Its appearance is very beautiful. A beautiful fighter plane is the symbol of an advanced fighter plane!
After inspecting the prototype, the meeting was also held in a friendly atmosphere in the office.
Song Wencong first reported to Deng Gong about the development progress of the fighter jet, including all the design work, and after the prototype is completed, the initial production of the fighter jet will be started. The first one will be used as static experiments, the second one and the third one will be tested.
After listening to Song Wencong's report, Mr. Deng nodded and gave a few instructions. He must act objectively, follow scientific laws, and do not make subjective mistakes, etc.
This is the highest secret of the country. The confidentiality work of J-10 was done quite well back then. Foreign countries did not know the existence of such a fighter. Even now, it is the case, but it is open to Pakistan.
After all, this fighter jet developed rapidly with the help of Pakistan. Without Pakistan, there would be no research and development of avionics and engines. Without these, the J-10 would have taken many detours.
Even in the development of J-10, some Pakistani engineers participated.
