Chapter 612 Air Defense Missiles

"Mr. President, will we improve Iraq's ballistic missiles and improve accuracy? Will it pose a threat to us?" When Iraq's visitors left with satisfaction, Musha Af said to Mhamad.☆→

Ballistic missiles are an offensive weapon, and Iraq is warlike. If there is a conflict with Pakistan's interests, it may cause trouble to Pakistan.

Mhamad shook his head: "Of course not. Iraq's most advanced ballistic missile has a range of only 600 kilometers. It can reach Tehran, Iran at most, and it is still far from us."

Iraq's military technology is developing slowly, they lack sufficient scientific researchers and systematic research processes. For example, North Korea, which almost all its national strength is invested in the development of ballistic missiles, was considered to have developed medium-range ballistic missiles, and the accuracy is quite poor.

At most, Iraq grafted the Scud and became the Hussein missile. Such a missile industrial level could not threaten Pakistan at all.

"And, we modify the guidance system to Iraq, and the electronic equipment on it can use civilian products," said Mhamad.

Civilian products can greatly reduce manufacturing costs, and Pakistan can obtain more profits. At the same time, it can also achieve the required accuracy during testing, making Iraq satisfied.

Only in actual combat, when complex electromagnetic interference occurs, Iraq's Hussein missiles will probably be knocked away. However, large-scale electromagnetic interference cannot be carried out on the battlefield. Only in combat will there be electromagnetic interference, mainly for dealing with enemy communications and radar equipment.

Therefore, as long as Pakistan knows the weaknesses of Iraq's improved missiles, it can release electromagnetic interference once it poses a threat to its own side, causing the missile to lose its accuracy.

"By the way, how is our land-based long-range air defense system going?" Mhamad suddenly remembered this and asked Musha Af.

Pakistan's air defense focus is on sea, and by surveying and mapping Patriot missiles, a ship-based friendship shield system was developed. At the same time, simplifying this system and using the vehicle-mounted chassis became a land-based air defense system.

"The project is progressing smoothly, and two live-fire target shootings have been carried out," Musha Af said.

As president, Mhamad needs to pay attention to many projects and cannot cover everything. This land-based air defense system has never been asked about it.

"Okay. Then let's go and have a look tomorrow." Mhamad said.

Land-based air defense missile system! When Mhamad and his party came to the Quetta Research Institute under Tongtian Tower High-Tech Center, they had already seen the air defense missile system deployed in field on the shooting range.

"President Mhamad, welcome to our Quetta Institute." said Raval, 40, the project leader.

This is the first time the president has come here, and he is here to inspect his work! Laval is very excited. He studied in the United States in his early years, and after studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States, he joined Lockheed. Later, after the news of Pakistan's victory over India came out, he resolutely decided to return to China, enter the scientific research field in Pakistan, and then entered the Tower of Heaven. Two years ago, he was responsible for this project.

In fact, this project is quite simple. When the carrier-based air defense system is mature, it is too easy to develop into a land-based system! Moreover, Pakistan's industry is developing rapidly, and there are suitable off-road wheeled chassis for him to choose from.

"Our field air defense system looks pretty good." Mhamad said, looking at the vehicles not far away.

All are off-road heavy truck chassis of the same type of 8*8 chassis. These chassis are not ng80 chassis made in Pakistan. Although this chassis is also excellent, it is still a bit small compared to military use. These chassis are made from the "tractor" chassis technology introduced by the Minsk Automobile Factory.

From the outside, it has a typical rough appearance of the Russian. The cab in front is very similar to the ballistic missile launcher, and behind it is four thick cylinders, which are very similar to the Russian S300 system.

"These are our air defense missile launch vehicles. Generally speaking, a launch company has six launch vehicles and 24 air defense missiles." Raval said to Mhamad: "If we want to air defense in the ground, we can form a launch battalion with four launch companies."

This kind of air defense missile is mainly used for regional air defense and protects the safety of important targets.

"This is our guided radar vehicle, which uses the same phased array radar as the Shield of Friendship. Search, track, lock, and guidance. This radar can be fully realized." Raval looked at Mhamad and looked at another car. On that car, a large plane radar was unfolded, all of which were field camouflage.

Guided radar vehicles! There are command vehicles, power vehicles, and the entire air defense missile system, which is so huge and rough.

"We have a high ability to handle targets and can deal with up to twenty-four targets at the same time. As long as they are all in our radar scanning area, we use a field chassis with high maneuverability. If necessary, we can also replace it with a crawler chassis, which has better maneuverability performance." Raval said to Mhamad.

Mhamad nodded, derived from a ship-based air defense system, and the prototype is an excellent Patriot missile. Now the performance of this air defense missile can fully meet the indicators set at the beginning, but...

"Can our air defense missile system be able to counter missiles?" Mhamad asked: "Anti-ballistic missile?"

Anti-ballistic missile! When Pakistan had just fooled the United States and equipped the Patriot missile, it conducted an anti-ballistic missile experiment. As a result, the Soviets gave up the idea of using ballistic missiles to attack Pakistan. Unfortunately, the experiment at that time was completely cheated. They knew the various orbits of the ballistic missile in advance and designed a close contact in detail.

Resistance-ballistic missiles are very difficult, with large flight speeds, short time, and almost fall off the top of the head, resulting in a very small launch window.

"Mr. President, are you talking about Star Wars in America?" asked Laval.

In order to fight against the Soviet ballistic missiles, the United States carried out the Star Wars plan. The project has been carried out for more than ten years and was very popular, but everyone knows that the actual effect is a fantasy.

The United States attempted to build a solid shield to block the Soviet ballistic missiles. Unfortunately, theoretically speaking, the technical problems it faced were far from being solved by the current United States. Even in the 21st century later, the work of the United States' anti-missile system was still unstable.

However, what the Americans wanted to stop was the intercontinental ballistic missile launched by the Soviet Union. When this missile re-entered the atmosphere, it had a speed of up to Mach 20. What Mhamad needed was to stop tactical ballistic missiles with a range of hundreds of kilometers.

"It's not Star Wars, as long as you can intercept tactical missiles, it's fine." Mhamad said that tactical missiles, like Scud missiles, have a maximum speed of only about Mach 5 in the last stage, and the difficulty of interception is naturally much lower.

In this era, there are actually many missiles available. For example, the American Patriots began to shine in the Gulf War in 1991 and intercept Scud missiles. They were once boasted by the United States that the probability of interception was as high as 90%. The Soviet S-300 missile was required to have the ability to intercept ballistic missiles at the beginning of its development. In 1983, the S-300v1 equipped with the Army was only equipped with a smaller range of 9m83 missile.

As well as other corresponding supporting equipment, the target types of intercepting include aircraft, cruise missiles and short-range tactical ballistic missiles such as "Scud" and "Spike". In 1988, it was equipped with a larger range of 9m82 missiles and supporting equipment, and a new system of two types of missiles and two types of launch units can deal with "Penxing" medium-range tactical ballistic missiles, air-to-ground missiles, and interfering aircraft patrolling at a distance of 100 kilometers, etc.

It has been 1992 years now, and Pakistan has a close contact with the West. It can obtain advanced Western electronic equipment and intercept a Scud missile, which should be put on the agenda.

"Tactical missile?" Raval thought for a while and said: "It is possible in theory. As long as our radar discovers the target and the signal processing capacity is fast enough, it can calculate the interception trajectory and intercept the opponent's missile. However, we must be able to discover the target first. We'd better have early warning satellites."

Early warning satellite! The interception process of the US Scud missile is also the first way to discover the trajectory of the missile when it takes off through the satellite, and then inform the rear, giving the Patriot missile system time to intercept.

This is a standard step. However, Pakistan now has no ability to launch early warning satellites. The road to space is still far away. The only way to China that may be exported to Pakistan is probably not as good as Pakistan's early warning satellite technology at this time.

There is no need to expect early warning satellites.

"If there is no early warning satellite, we'd better have a long-range early warning radar." Laval continued.

Long-range early warning radar is also an important system for detecting ballistic missiles. For example, the United States' paving claw long-range early warning radar can detect distances of thousands of kilometers and strive for longer warning time.

This kind of long-range early warning radar is all phased array system, and Pakistan has mastered the core of phased array radar, so it should not be difficult to develop this long-range early warning radar.

The role of early detection and early warning can also be achieved through remote early warning radar and using early warning aircraft and other equipment.
