9. Chapter 9
The Northern Jade Kingdom stands in the snow and ice all year round, connecting the endless Xisa ice field in the north and the vast and dangerous Kra River in the south. The royal city of Feiling is located in the north-north center, cold and dry. Even in May, you can breathe in the air when walking outdoors.
Because there are several frozen veins under the city, the temperature below the ground is lower and wet.
The harshest dungeon in the Northern Jade Country was built in this place, close to the frozen veins, which were worse than beasts.
Kevin crossed his long legs and sat on the uneven ground in a very comfortable position, leaning against the cold stone wall of the dungeon, looking down at his right hand.
Apart from a few small air eyes on the roof than fists, this dungeon cannot find more places to connect with the outside world. The wall lights in the aisle are pitifully few, and the flames are not strong at all, which means to hold a last breath.
Under the reflection of this dim light, Kevin's right hand seemed even more terrifying...
If that could still be called hand.
The complete flesh stopped abruptly on the wrist. Under the blood-colored wound, there were cold white bones. Even the white bones were not complete. Half of the metacarpal bones were missing, and only two of the finger bones were complete. The remaining part was worse than a dog gnaw.
Tsk, it's so ugly.
Kevin looked down for a while and then mocked himself: But at least he had a few bones.
You know, a few minutes ago, even half of the dog's metacarpal bone had not been gnawed.
A skinny mouse suddenly emerged from the cracks in the corner of the wall. The hard hair rubbed through Kevin's blood-dripping wound, and the taste was so sour and wonderful.
Kevin took a silent breath, glanced at the mouse, moved his fingers flexibly, and bounced it away a few steps away.
In just a blink of an eye, his dog's chewing metacarpal bone seemed to be more complete, with two more knuckles on his middle finger.
The thin mouse screamed. I don't know whether it was scared by the touch of the bone or Kevin himself, so I turned around and ran away. But I didn't find the right way. I hit Osvid's arm muscles and rolled twice before running away in a hurry.
With this kind of impact, Osvid, who was lying on the ground, twitched his fingers twice, frowned and opened his eyes.
He didn't understand the situation for a while, and he narrowed his eyes and swept around before he suddenly sat up.
"Hiss-" He pressed the wound on the back of his head, took a low breath, then raised his eyes and asked, "What the hell is this?"
Kevin stroked his left hand very casually and said, "It's obvious, in the prison."
As for the not-so-sighted right hand, he was hidden in the shadow behind his side, and could not be seen from Osvid's perspective.
Kevin pointed to the sign engraved beside the keyhole of the anklet, and added: "In the dungeon of the Northern Emerald Kingdom."
Osvid's face turned completely dark: "The sand ghost tried to catch people, but in the end he was imprisoned in the prison of the Northern Jade Kingdom?"
This is indeed a bit strange to them. You should know that the Northern Jade Kingdom is equivalent to the follower of the Sand Ghost. You can help deter it. If you really work hard, don’t expect it. Most of the time, the Northern Jade Kingdom is busy running around, and the Sand Ghost is waiting for profit.
Now that I look at it, I have the meaning of going from a complete follower to a waiting and working together.
"With cooperation, exchange of interests is indispensable. Maybe the immortal Sapir in the Northern Jade Kingdom suddenly had some more chips, such as digging up a peerless treasure..." Kevin fiddled with the keyhole on the ankle, as if he was studying how to thrust it open.
"When it comes to exchange of interests..." Osvid frowned and said, "What's going on with that sand ghost today? Who touches who dies, what's the joke?! Mutation?"
Kevin said casually: "Maybe this is the result of the exchange of interests."
Osvid: "…"
"Please don't say such a terrifying guess in that tone, thank you." Mio's voice came from the next door along the mouse hole, "I feel more worry-free when I heard your conversation just after I opened my eyes."
"Are you still alive?" Kevin said in surprise.
Mio: "...I'm not completely worthless either."
There was a rustling sound of clothes rubbing next door. After a while, Mio's voice moved to the position, pressing against the wall, much clearer: "To be honest, just one such sand ghost killed so many of us. If there were more, then what else would you fight..."
Who can beat them?!
Not to mention the Golden Lion Kingdom and the Northern Jade Kingdom, all races in the entire continent can step on their feet.
"But they are still working with the Northern Jade Country." Osvid said, "So there is something strange about it. Either their condition is not as difficult as it seems, or there is anything to restrain the Northern Jade Country or others."
Kevin was still fiddling with his anklets, and after hearing the "Ye" sound, he agreed.
Speaking of it...
Osvid suddenly looked up at Kevin and said, "Where is your right hand?!"
Kevin: “…Is your topic a bit jumping?”
He threw away his anklet, raised his eyes and rushed to Osvid in confusion: "Why are you asking me about my right hand suddenly?"
"What are you talking about?" Osvid saw him talking about the topic, his face suddenly fell. Without saying a word, he leaned over and pinched Kevin's right arm hidden behind him.
"Ask a question, what's wrong with just doing something if you don't agree?!" Kevin was helpless by him and stretched out his right hand, "So why are you doing my right hand?"
The position between the two of them had changed. A little thin moonlight leaked from their eyes above their heads, just shining on Kevin's right hand.
I saw that his fingers were long and well-proportioned, holding swords all year round, but no calluses left. With a slight movement, the muscles and bones on the back of his hand would be prominent, and there was no difference except that he was thinner and paler than Osvid's hands.
"How is it possible..." Osvid's expression became very complicated in an instant. I couldn't say whether I felt more relieved or more incredible. "I clearly saw-"
"What did you see?" Kevin raised his eyebrows.
I saw your right hand being wrapped in the sand...
Osvid opened his mouth and swallowed the sentence back. He frowned and hesitated. Did he really see clearly when he was so nervous before? Is it really just a matter of angle?
Still think something is wrong...
But if it were really wrapped in sand, the right hand would have disappeared long ago. How could it be so intact and not even a wound...
Osvid was muttering in his heart, and forgot what he was going to say. He stared at the right hand for a while, and then said without touching the ground: "Why is your hand cold like this ghost?"
"..." Kevin: "Would you worry a little too much?"
Osvid had a blank expression on his face: "I think it is necessary for you to go back to the academy to retake etiquette classes, such as learning how to talk to the emperor to live longer."
Kevin smiled very barely: "It's a pity that His Majesty the Emperor is jailed with me. It's hard to say whether he can go out alive."
Osvid: "…"
He stared at Kevin's eyes for a while, suddenly opened the bastard's right claw, took out a round bone-shaped pendant hanging close to his neck, pressed a corner and stroked it, and heard a "click" sound. The pendant was divided into two halves, with a hollow groove in the middle, and there were three black "little beetles" in the groove.
"Xinsha..." Kevin said in surprise.
The cowhide bags they hung on themselves were either lost or taken away. Unexpectedly, this guy still kept something useful.
Osvid poured out one, crushed it without saying a word, and then slowly said to Kevin: "The chance of getting out alive is probably a little higher than you expected. Now you can think about getting back to learn etiquette."
Kevin: “…”
After saying that, he checked himself, flipped all the places he could turn on, and flipped Kevin's clothes. Finally, he touched a metal ring for buckle on Kevin's waist. He looked up at Kevin's very speechless Kevin, "Hold his pants."
Kevin rolled his eyes: "...If you pull this ring of pants, you won't fall off. Thank you for worrying."
Without saying a word, Osvid pulled the thin metal ring and twisted it out with his bare hands, but straightened it a little, stabbed it into the keyhole of the ankle and tamped it.
Kevin listened to the keyhole "click" sound with a complicated look, and he felt relieved.
"When I was a young master, I became an emperor when I was old. Tell me where did you learn this skill?" Kevin poked his keyhole and sighed: "Fortunately, the guards here don't like to wander around in the dungeon."
"But you must guard the exit." Osvid said as he wanted to stab the lockhole of the prison door again, but he heard a gust of wind coming in from the aisle, making a "huh" sound.
The two of them paused, and in the blink of an eye they leaned back to the wall, tilted their heads and pretended to be dizzy quietly.
