Chapter 2 Don't talk to strangers

I was a little reluctant to leave, and Jiang Chao was even more reluctant to leave than me. It was the first time he had really left home since he was a child.

"Grandpa, I don't want to leave..."

"Cho-zi, remember that no matter when, you can't leave Chujiu. No matter what happens, you have to protect him." Although Jiang Chao didn't understand why his grandfather asked him to do this, Jiang Chao has been filial since he was a child and obeyed his grandfather's words.

"Grandpa, don't worry, I remember it all!" Jiang Chao nodded.

"Then go away quickly, don't waste it. The travel expenses are in your bag. Don't come back before I go to find you." Grandpa Jiang Chao's voice began to tremble when he spoke.

When I left the village, Jiang Chao and I both cried. I felt that I had implicated Jiang Chao and his grandfather. Perhaps it was because the enemy who killed my parents came to us, so Grandpa Jiang Chao asked us to leave quickly.

Who is it and what kind of hatred does it have with my family? It will make him kill my whole family.

"Qinjiu, look at the address on the notebook is not far away. If it is far away, let's take a three-wheeler to the passenger station in the town first." Jiang Chao's voice pulled my thoughts back.

I took out the notebook and opened the first page and saw Liu Wendao's specific address. It was a village called Daojia Village, located in Gugu County.

I searched with my mobile phone map and found that Gugu County is in the next province, less than 200 kilometers.

Jiang Chao and I first took three wheels to the town, then followed the map to take the urban-rural bus to the transfer station Anlai City, and then took the bus to Gugu County.

After nearly a day of hard work, Jiang Chao and I finally arrived in Gugu County before dark.

As soon as we walked out of the station, a kind old lady came towards us:

"Two young men, do you have accommodation? I have a hotel at home, so I'll give you students cheaper."

"Isn't it far?" Jiang Chao asked.

As the sky was about to get dark, Jiang Chao and I planned to stay in Gugu County for one night and set off tomorrow morning.

"It's not far away, it's only more than ten minutes from here to my house." The old lady said with a smile.

"Dragon Ninth Festival, will you go?" Jiang Chao asked.

I was about to agree, but suddenly a sentence that Grandpa Jiang once told me came to my mind like thunder:

"Remember, don't talk to any strangers along the way!"

"Jiang Chao, go!" I said and pulled Jiang Chao away.

After leaving the station, Jiang Chao still had doubts on his face. He couldn't understand why I suddenly left.

"Jiang Chao, have you forgotten what your grandfather told us today? Don't talk to strangers!" I reminded.

Jiang Chao then realized:

"Damn, I forgot this. You have a good memory for Chujiu!"

"Let's go, let's not stay anymore. Now I will take a taxi to Daojia Village to find Liu Wendao." I was afraid that there would be troubles in the future, so I changed my plan temporarily.

Jiang Chao nodded:

"Okay, I'll listen to you."

When I stopped a taxi, the driver heard us going to Daojia Village and looked at us with some suspicion:

"Young man, why are you doing in Daojia Village so late? That village has been deserted for a long time and has been abandoned for several years."

Jiang Chao and I looked at each other and then asked:

"Master, is there no one in the village?"

The driver nodded:

"It's gone long ago, and no one has lived there for several years." The driver kindly advised:

"I advise you not to go, there is nothing around the village. If you go, you can't even get a car when you come back."

Jiang Chao looked at me and asked:

"Will we go or not?"

I did not answer Jiang Chao immediately, but thought in my mind that the address and location given to us by Jiang Chao's grandfather were hand-painted by him, so it would be impossible to be wrong. Could it be that Grandpa Jiang Chao had not been here in recent years? He did not know that Daojia Village was abandoned and Liu Wendao had moved away long ago.

But no matter what, I'm going to take a look first:

"Let's go, let's go first."

"You guys are sure, it's hard to come back after going there in the middle of the night." The driver reminded again.

"Master, please leave a mobile phone number at that time. If we want to come back, call you and you will go over and pick us up. We will pay the round-trip fee." I said.

The taxi driver is willing to:

"Yes, this is my business card. If you can't get a taxi, you want to come back, so call me. Today I'm on night shift and I've been driving all night."

In this way, Jiang Chao and I went to Daojia Village.

Gugu County is originally a relatively remote and backward small county town with severe population loss and no foreign population. Therefore, the entire small county town seems particularly deserted at night, and it is not easy for individuals to see on the road.

On the way to Daojia Village, I had to walk a long mountain road. Under the night, I vaguely saw a man standing by the side of the road, and the taxi driver drove straight over as if he hadn't seen it.

The moment the car drove past, I glanced at the person and immediately shocked me and broke out in a cold sweat:

"Why does that person standing by the road stopping the car look so much like an old lady who asked me and Jiang Chao at the station that she could not live in a hotel?!"

I subconsciously looked back and saw that the back of the car was pitch black and I could not see anything.

"Master, was there someone on the roadside just now waving to stop the car?"

When the driver listened to me, he was drinking water with a cup of water in one hand and almost sprayed it out:

"I said, young man, don't joke with me in the middle of the night. There is no village or shop in front of me, so who can wave to me?"

The driver's words made me even more confused. I just saw clearly that there was indeed an old lady standing by the side of the road, waving to stop the car. Could it be that I was dazzled? Or had she had hallucinations?

So I asked Jiang Chao, and Jiang Chao said he didn't see it either.

At around 8 o'clock in the evening, the taxi arrived at Daojia Village. After getting off the bus, Jiang Chao and I found that what we said to the taxi driver was right. There was a village that had been abandoned for many years. There was no light at all in the village at first glance, and the roadside was covered with weeds. The gloomy feeling made me a little scared.

Thinking of the weird old lady who appeared on the roadside just now made me feel even more uneasy.

"Chunjiu, am I right? Now you have seen it too. There is no one in this village. If you want to go back now, I will send you back."

There was indeed no one in the village. Jiang Chao and I couldn't find Liu Wendao even if we stayed here. When I was about to get in the car and open the door, I suddenly thought of a problem, which made my spine chill, so I quickly called Jiang Chao:

"Jiang Chao, let's go to the village to take a look!"

Jiang Chao looked at me with a puzzled look:

"The ninth day of the lunar month, there is no one in this village, I want to..."

I gave Jiang Chao a wink. We grew up together, and he immediately understood what I meant and helped the taxi driver close the door.

"Master, you go back first. Let's go around the village by ourselves. If you really want to go back, you will call you."

"Okay, then I'll leave. If you need me to answer, call." The taxi driver said and turned around and left.

After the taxi driver left, Jiang Chao asked me:

"Qinjiu, what happened just now?"

"Have you ever called my name after we got in the car?" I asked Jiang Chao.

Jiang Chao thought for a while and said:

"It seems that there is no, we didn't say a few words in the car."

I nodded:

"Yes, you haven't called my name along the way. How could that taxi driver know that my name is Chujiu?!"
