Chapter 302

There are many temples on Seaweed Island, with varying sizes. Some look magnificent, and some are simple and unpretentious. The Wanxiangmen and his party live next to a small temple. The temple is called Fahua Temple, which is a four-entry courtyard.

Chen Luan and the other two have been lingering here for several days, and have been preaching the scriptures and teachings with Master Leran, the host of Fahua Temple, Master Xingyi, a pair of monks who were hanging a list in the temple.

The reason Chen Luan set out in advance was because he heard that the old friend of the Central Houtu Continent, Monk Xingyi, came to Shuxuan Xianzhou to travel around, but when he rushed over, Monk Xingyi had already gone to the South China Sea. Later, the two finally met on Seaweed Island.

Yun Yiqi first gave Hua Lanting and the others two days off, allowing them to visit Seaweed Island and see the local customs and customs.

Early in the morning of the third day, the morning light was slightly dewy and the sky was not yet bright. The morning bell in Fahua Temple had already ringed. This was the monks who were going to do morning class and recite scriptures. Hua Lanting and others meditated and practiced for half an hour. Before the breakfast time came, they came to Fahua Temple for a walk together.

When I entered, the temple was solemn and solemn in the early morning, which made people couldn't help but lighten their steps and voices, and I couldn't help but feel peaceful and peaceful in my heart. Except for Hua Lanting and Zhuge Yun who would burn incense and kneel down, everyone else just watched silently.

While walking, Yi Liunian suddenly asked in a low voice: "Zhuge, temples, why do I often see temples here? There are few people called temples? What is the difference between the two?"

Zhuge Yun said: "There are different opinions, and there are some things to pay attention to. The name "Shi Shi" and "Shi Shi" should be to serve and obey the emperor, and to perpetuate the emperor. It first refers to the official offices under the court, such as Dali Temple and Guanglu Temple."

"After Buddhism was introduced, a monk from India lived in the Honglu Temple, which was a foreign envoy, and later built the White Horse Temple nearby. The temple gradually became the common name for Buddhist buildings and temples."

"The temple mainly worships Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and is a place where monks practice and live. There are monks studying Buddhist scriptures and preaching Buddhism."

"The temples are different. Temples appear earlier than the temples. At first they were places where emperors and nobles worship ancestors and heaven and earth. The clans among the people also had ancestral temples and ancestral temples. Later, they evolved into places where gods, ghosts, immortals and demons are widely accepted and admired by the public, or where the virtuous and talented saints and sages are deceased, such as Confucius Temple, Guandi Temple, Dragon King Temple, Kitchen King Temple, etc.."

"In addition to different worship, there are monks in the temple, and no one is practicing in the temple. Linwai Buddha Temple is large in scale, with halls, meditation rooms, and cafes, so the temple is much smaller. The two refer to different meanings, but now there are more talks in spoken language."

Yi Liunian asked again: "What about the abbot and the abbot? I can't figure it out either."

Zhuge Yun replied: "The word abbot was originally meant to stay in and maintain it, and preside over the Dharma. Later, it was extended to the person who spreads the Dharma on behalf of the Buddha and continues the Buddha's wisdom life, and then evolved into the title of the head master and responsible person in the temple."

"The abbot is the spiritual leader of the temple, which means that the monks live in a square place. The abbot must have sufficient qualifications and Buddhist practice. Generally, he has accepted the Dharma teachings and has a Dharma book to prove that his inheritance has a considerable reputation and influence. The temple where he is located must have a sound jungle system and a considerable scale, and is usually a temple group."

"Simply put, no matter the size of the temple, there is a publicly recommended abbot, but there is not necessarily an abbot. One abbot can serve as multiple temples. The abbot must be the abbot, but the abbot does not necessarily be the abbot."

Hua Lanting said, "There is another interesting saying. The word abbot was originally a noun for my Taoist sect, but later it was changed to be widely used in Buddhism. In Taoism, the abbot is the practice term "the abbot of the human heart, the heart of the sky is ten thousand feet" and is the name of Quanzhen Sect for the highest leader of the ten directions of the jungle. Of course, the origin is not important now."

The ten people chatted and walked slowly, then turned back to the main hall. When they heard the sound of preaching from inside, they walked in stroll.

Today happened to be the day when the abbot Master Leran preached the Great Sutra once a month. The temple was either standing or full of people. Half were monks from Fahua Temple, the other half were local lay Buddhists and ordinary monks from outside. Chen Luan and Mao Yao were also present. The master and disciple of Xingyi, whom he met a few days ago, was not present.

Hua Lanting and the others came a little late because they were strolling, and the lecture was coming to an end. Next is the Q&A session.

Buddhism is also divided into many schools, and its doctrines and practice methods are not consistent, such as Tiantai Sect, Yogacara Sect, Huayan Sect, Vinaya Sect, Tantric Sect, Pure Land Sect, etc., and the Fahua Temple branch inherits Zen Sect.

Zen Buddhism is a sect that was localized after Buddhism was introduced to the Shuxuan Immortal Continent. It advocates "a different teaching outside the teachings, without establishing words, directly pointing to the human heart, and seeing the nature and becoming a Buddha." It emphasizes that the Buddha is not outside, and it is in the heart. As long as you search inward, everyone can become a Buddha. In addition, Zen Buddhism advocates life-oriented practice, believing that carrying water and chopping wood is a wonderful way.

There should be no distinction between Buddhist schools, and they are all teachings that respect Buddha and worship Buddha, but the focus of understanding of Buddhahood is different from the path to becoming a Buddha.

For a long time, the concepts and practices of Pure Land and Zen Buddhism are the most down-to-earth, and are easily accepted by the public and spread more and more widely. For example, Pure Land Buddhism believes that practicing Buddha can be meditation and practiced, understand Buddhist scriptures, and widely studied teachings. However, chanting Buddha's name alone can also be reborn in the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and the method is relatively simple.

The Mahayana sect of Tiantai Sect is so sophisticated and complex. It requires extremely high academic literacy and thinking level. The Yogacara school emphasizes the most on understanding, the Huayan School is also complex and profound in system, and the Vinaya School requires strict mental and physical requirements. The Tantric Buddhism of Tantric Buddhism is never easily shown to people and descendants, so the number of believers is less than that of Pure Land and Zen Buddhism.

Zen Buddhism also has a part that emphasizes enlightenment and focuses on enlightenment. Their Q&A is different from the debates of some schools. It requires that the amplitude of body movements and gestures are very large and the scene is intense. Instead, it is a simple Zen method that requires a simple question and answer. Those who lack foundations are often confused.

Like today, an outside monk asked Master Leran:

"Dao, what is Tao?"

"A normal mind is the Tao." Yueran replied.

Hua Lanting softly explained to Yi Liunian below: "In Zen Buddhism, the way is the way, and everyone can walk, so it is ordinary. The normal mind is the straight mind, which is the heart of all equality. Zen Buddhism talks about observing the mind and governing the mind, and the result is to understand the mind and see the nature. It is not to stick to a pure thought and ignore the world, but to return to the world."

"The so-called worldly Dharma enters Buddhism, and the Dharma enters worldly Dharma. The so-called straight mind is the temple, and the straight mind is the pure land. Just as drilling wood to produce fire, fire is stored in wood, but wood is not fire; mud comes out of lotus, lotus grows in mud, but not mud. This is the true and vulgarity advocated by Zen."

The monk asked again: "What is Buddha?"

"There are in the palace."

"Aren't the Buddha statues in the hall clay sculptures?"

"yes."

"Where is the real Buddha?"

"There is from the palace", Mingran repeated the sentence.

"I don't understand, but I am just entering the Zen Sect in the forest. I also ask the Zen Master to give me some advice."

Leran looked at him and asked, "Have you eaten porridge just now?"

"have eaten."

"Go to wash the bowl." Lee Ran said calmly.

This time, Zhuge Yun said to Yi Liunian: "The master means to wash dishes after eating porridge. This is a very common thing. You will do such things naturally. How can you think and care about them when you learn Buddhism?"

The monk still didn't understand very much, and then asked, "What is a normal mind?"

"It's just natural. If you want to sleep, you need to sit and sit. If you want to heat, you need to cool down, and if you want to cold, you need to turn to fire."

"What is the Tao body in nature?"

"One needle, three feet of thread."

"I still don't understand."

"Yizhou cloth, Yangzhou silk."

Hua Lanting continued to explain to Yi Liunian: "Don't think that nature is simple, but it has a wonderful meaning in it. Don't underestimate a short needle, three-foot thread tip, Yizhou cloth and Yangzhou silk, all of which are woven by this needle and three-foot thread. The normal mind sounds simple, but after real strength is accumulated for a long time, there will naturally be a victorious state. This is the Zen view."

Yi Liunian scratched his head and said, "The essence of Zen Buddhism is similar to that of Taoism."

Before Hua Lanting answered, a contemptuous voice came from beside him: "You three guys, if you don't understand, just close the beaks. The old bald donkey above beeps loudly, speaks cleverly, and plays word games. There is a little red man beeps softly below, pretending to understand if he doesn't understand. Do Buddhist practitioners pretend to be lie like this?"

This person's voice was not loud, but he was obviously a famous monk. The sound waves shocked the curtain on the Buddha statue without wind, which made everyone look sideways.

The person who spoke was a young man, covered with a black robe and cloak, only a bald head under his cap was exposed, his skin was also dark, he was not a monk, his eyebrows and eyes were not kind, and his words were even vulgar.

Seeing everyone looking over, he didn't care.

Yi Liunian was angry: "The bird man wearing black hair is a holy place in Buddhism. Don't say anything dirty!"

The man shook his cloak, revealing his snow-white teeth, and grinned at Yi Liunian and smiled: "You little misogynous, don't you speak rudely? It's so unlucky to go out today. There is an old charlatan with a good tongue on top, and there are a few little Taoist boys pretending to be a god. I said when will the two Buddhist and Taoist sects be dirty?"

After hearing his repeated ridicule and insults Master Leran and Buddhist Taoism, Hua Lanting couldn't listen and said, "My friend, it doesn't matter if you don't believe in Buddhism. Please go out. Don't make noise here. Eat grapes without spitting out grape skins, and eat bones without spitting out ivory."

The young man in black robe suddenly jumped up, spread his teeth and claws, and lifted his cloak: "Dare you scold me for being a dog? Who is your friend? If you have the courage, don't leave. If you have the talent, stay where you are. Look at me, I won't beat you up to search for your teeth!"

"Amitabha!" Master Leran proclaimed the Buddha's name, "This donor and your companion are probably demon cultivators. Although my Buddha saves all sentient beings, our temple is widely open and we accept the fate of accepting the devil cultivators, and we are willing to argue with the Taoist and debate the Dharma together, but if we use the main force, don't blame me for letting the guardian monk invite you out."

The young man in black robe retorted: "It's okay to teach Buddhism, but it's not okay to fight the supernatural powers? That monk, you have cultivation and also have a guardian of the Dharma. Isn't you just waiting for a fight?"

Leran smiled and said, "Amitabha, the donor is right. However, the rules of this temple are that only Buddhist powers are allowed to fight in the temple. If you want to fight, please wait outside the temple. Maybe one day, my monk or the guardian monk will have to leave the temple and then stretch and measure it."

He is a gentle and neutral school in Buddhism, not the kind of Buddhist practitioner who immediately draws his sword to eliminate the demons and defends the way as soon as he sees it. This is a delaying strategy, and it is not expected that the other party will really wait for him to go out for a long time.

I don't want to leave this time.

Then the young man in black robe smiled and said, "Okay, this is what the old monk said in person. Zhu Luoji, the three demons in the Xiagang Demon Sect, happened to know some Buddhist methods. Look, is it you going to take action or the guardian monk?"

This Zhu Luoji not only came to make trouble for trouble, but also seemed to be prepared and even learned Buddhist techniques.

Seeing that Master Leran was squeezed by Zhu Luoji in words, Hua Lanting stood up and said, "You and I are all outsiders who come to listen to the master's lectures. Since the three demons are about to reach out, then let my Taoist Hua Lanting use Buddhist methods to see the magical powers of the demon cultivators. It is also easy to ask Master Leran to witness and give some advice."

Seeing Hua Lanting stand out, the disciples of the Wanxiang Sect are excited.

After experiencing Hua Lanting's bravery in defeating the enemy with one move and retreating the enemy with one move, they were full of confidence in Hua Lanting and were looking forward to another good show.

Song Feifei shouted: "Zhu Luoji, come on! I think you are serious. Lanting, let's beat him up!"

Yi Liunian also shouted: "Ju Luoji, come on! I like you. Please, please use your face to slap the soles of Lanting's shoes hard!"
