Chapter 38: Target North

Yelena's housekeeper Gerky was loyal to his duties and visited the capital prisons, even those outside the city were not spared. The old housekeeper in his fifties worked hard to take the pardon from His Majesty the Emperor, showing one cell and one cell, and patiently read the contents of the criminal who could not read a word. It was not uncommon to recruit prisoners to the border, but when he heard that he had to serve in the Grand Principal for five years, the prisoners retreated one after another. The scum of the empire retreated and said that he would rather stay in it and be stinking than to work for any foreign nobles.

Gerki had a solution to it. He promised money to return it instead of servitude as stipulated in the pardon. Even so, it took him several days to raise more than 200 people. Fortunately, those who dared to go to the Grand Principal to fight their lives were not good people. At least they all looked tall and fierce. The guy who committed the least crime in the file also broke other people's legs.

The housekeeper has successfully completed the task, and Yelena's gains are not small. Since he is the emperor's protector, the Grand Duchy has basically copied the empire from military service system to tactics, and he particularly prefers to introduce mages into war. The mage is a well-known and decent person in the empire. He can't hire him without the emperor's nodding and only paying money. So Yelena knocked on the gate of the palace again with shame, this time it went much smoother than last time. The mage tower is the emperor's private soldier, and he is on call, without so many rules. His Majesty waved his pen and asked the mage tower to help his loyal subjects.

Yelena thanked the emperor and left happily with her handwritten letter. The mage who returned to the empire last time accompanied the princess to travel was not good and was killed by the druid. She made up her mind to choose a powerful one.

Unfortunately, choosing a mage is not about buying vegetables, Yelena soon gained experience.

"We're very cold, this guy..." Yelena drooped her face, her eyebrows were almost in a string.

"Just Miss, just call me Sam." The fat man's face didn't blush and his heart was not beating. He knew that his appearance was not liked by women, so he had to work harder, otherwise he would have to be with prostitutes for his whole life.

When the noble lady from the North knocked on the door of the wizard tower, facing the suspicious gatekeeper apprentice, she proudly handed over a letter with the emperor's seal. Yelena was an amateur, and in her imagination she had to find a middle-aged man in her forties or fifties who had to walk with crutches. Sam Willy was a surprise, because no one was willing to go except this fat man.

Young is just one thing, and Sam's weight also makes Yelena unhappy. Looking at the shaking caused by the fat mage getting on the carriage, Yelena shook her head, but she was helpless.

She wanted more, thousands of infantrymen, well-known knights, and Lyon Wood. Instead of the red-haired elf, dark-skinned nun, and the fat mage sitting in the carriage now. Oh, she almost forgot about Dandrian and Klaus. Hiring a knight was amazing at first glance, but what could Dandrian do? He scared away the enemy with singing?

More than 200 prisoners wore burqas embroidered with Ivanov family's emblem. As for weapons and armor, they would not be issued until the destination. The prisoners lined up in four rows of carriages amid the housekeeper's curse, and it looked like an army if they didn't look closely.

The rising sun had risen, bringing a little bit of warmth. Yelena raised her hand to make sure everyone could see and hear it.

"Go forward!" The heavy bearskin cloak and armor could not cover Yelena's heroic posture.

She is a girl from the North, and there is no distinction between men and women on the battlefield there.

"Teacher, when will mom be back?" The half-elf was too small to hide the tremolo. Not only the sound, she was trembling.

Helena has never seen a few oriental people, let alone women. She can only compare the oriental female mage Mei Sansan. Zhao Wen and Mei Sansan both have relatively soft facial contours, and although the half-elves are small, they look a bit like a woman. Moreover, she has shiny hair and pointed ears, which is hard to match with. The more beautiful the girl is, the more she is loved by others. She raised her hand and forced herself to let go. Helena is a teacher, and she is not a close sister who would hug someone and comfort her softly.

The half-elf girl lay on the top of the city and looked into the distance. The sun had just risen, and there were people coming and going on the Imperial Avenue. Yelena's convoy had long disappeared, and she didn't know what the little girl was staring at.

"She will come back to see you when the matter is over." Zhao Wen's mother Erin is a professional mercenary, but Helena can't tell a girl that her mother might be fighting and killing people there.

"Are you talking to drive away the invading barbarians? Teacher." The girl didn't look back, as if she was talking to herself.

"Yes." Helena remembered Fat Sam who was in the same car. Fatty was her assistant position, who should be in the Mage Tower. But this fat man was the first and only one who jumped up to sign up and volunteered to be the representative of the Mage Tower to go to the North.

Does a man rather face swords, guns and arrows than work under a woman? Helena shrugged, the fat man would freeze his butt, she thought maliciously. Helena shook her neck straight by the cold wind. It was really a life-threatening to stand on the top of the city in such weather.

"Let's go, Wenwen." After spending dozens of days together and having a language foundation, Helena can successfully name the student.

She thought the girl would be willful and ready her words. As a result, the girl just said "um" simply and turned around and walked down the wall before her. The student's obedient attitude satisfied Helena. Magic is a dangerous art. Before she thoroughly mastered this skill, the apprentice would never be allowed to argue with the teacher. Helena followed the students, and they had to go faster, otherwise they would be involved in the abortions that would not escape for a long time.

The carriage was waiting for them below. The coachman who was hiding in the doorway and was cooking with the guards to see the young lady coming. When he walked to the car in two steps, he opened the door for Helena. The heating stove was placed in the carriage, and Helena shivered comfortably. As the daughter of the noble family, Helena could enjoy too many things that other colleagues dared not think of.

The little girl didn't look any grateful, just sat opposite her butt, staring blankly in a daze.

By the way, I seem to have heard someone say that her dead dad is also an oriental nobleman. Helena raised her hand to hit the carriage board and asked the driver to leave the car quickly.

"Teacher, can my mother and Mr. Sam Willy come back safely?" Zhao Wen understood that politeness and obedience were a good thing, but she suddenly learned to ask questions everywhere.

"Of course, the place they went is close to the border of the Empire, which is very safe there." Helena said casually, the carriage was walking too slowly, she lifted up the curtain and looked out, and the surroundings were filled with hawkers entering the city to catch the morning market.

"I don't think so." The girl's voice lowered.

"Oh?" Helena took her eyes off the outside of the car, wanting to hear what the advantages of a child who is older than herself has.

"Mom used to follow Lyon, but now Lyon is gone." The half-elf clenched her fingernails, and it seemed that she really regarded Lyon as a savior, a very typical child.

Although she wanted to laugh it off, she found that she could not refute Zhao Wen. Yes, Lyon did have the ability to turn misfortune into good fortune. The student said the teacher speechlessly, so the teacher used the moves that every woman could do. She reached out to hug Zhao Wen and hugged half of the elf in her arms.

This child is really. He was still shaking after sitting in the car for a long time. Helena used her hand to combed Zhao Wen's long black and shiny hair, and couldn't help but think of the fact that Zhao Wen was actually much older than herself.
