Chapter 29: The Spent Life

The cold winter in the northern border came very early. The black bear had just given birth to two cubs. It had to find more food to feed itself and the children. Before the river freezes, it relies on relatively easy-to-get fish to accumulate autumn weight. On this day, it took the bear to catch fish by the river as usual, while humans were waiting for its small family...

Mayor Ivanov's hunter killed two bears and caught his mother.

The female bear who lost her cub was heartbroken, and its life was destined to be unsuccessful. The pigs in captivity would scream before they died, and the black bear could do more than this. It crawled out of the cage, and the human in front of it held a stick, especially like a weapon to kill its children. The black bear man stood up, and his head was level with the sharpened fence.

The wild beast howled at the brave, and saliva flowed down the corners of his mouth, and the fishy smell made people disgusting. Seeing that it failed to scare humans, the female bear fell back to the ground and observed the long stick. It knew how powerful this thing was.

Ivanov wiped the sweat on his forehead. The brave man agreed too quickly, and he didn't have time to send someone to give the bear anesthetic. This was a performance, and the audience was going to watch the warriors massacre beasts rather than eat living people. He specially caught the black bear as the finale of the Colosseum, and then presented its skin to the princess. The princess wore a bear fur coat given by Mayor Ivanov and then wore a bear fur hat. It was enough for him to show his face in front of the grand duke. What a perfect plan.

If the dragon-slaying hero who was resurrected from the dead capsizes in the gutter in the Colosseum, his mayor will be over. The princess obviously has a special feeling for this person, and the armrest of the seat is almost broken by her.

Lyon held a spear flat, and the black bear walked into the attack range. He was not in a hurry to take action. The meaningless wound would only stimulate the black bear. No one could deal with a furious bear. The black bear roared and approached. Lyon shook the tip of the gun and forced the beast to retreat. He took the opportunity to step out the gun and took the black bear's left arm. The thick fur and fat layer took his thrust, and the spear head only entered a few inches.

The black bear roared and stood up again, its huge body blocking the sunlight. Lyon walked into its shadow. Aiming at the position of the black bear's heart, he stabbed a fatal blow. The bear claws were faster than the spear, and swung them down towards his head. Lyon crossed the gun bar to block it. The thick bear paw hit the gun bar, slapped him into the mud, and his weapon was taken off.

When hit by a beast of hundreds of pounds, Lyon would not be able to get up for a while. Driven by hunger and hatred, the black bear pounced on the brave, intending to tear him apart.

"Lyon, stand up!" The princess ran to the edge of the viewing table, and she wanted to jump into the venue. Sir Lancelot grabbed the princess' arm, and the upright black bear was at the same height as the viewing table. The mayor was nervous and could not speak, and his future was in danger.

Lyon rolled to the side and avoided the fangs that were rushing towards him. But the black bear also had claws, and its front paws stepped on Lyon's chest and fixed the prey. The bear's mouth wide open and bit his thighs.

The fence was full of people. If the rules were not taken into account, many people would have thrown things at the black bear. Yelena couldn't care about so much, and the girl threw her sword next to Lyon. Lyon grabbed it and pried it up, and the black bear let go of it wailingly. He stood up without saying a word. The torture in hell gave him an extraordinary endurance to the pain, but the wound on his left leg made him unstable.

The black bear became even more angry and pounced on Lyon again. The brave man had only a thin short sword in his hand, and the girls in the audience screamed in vain. Lyon threw the short sword and smashed it on the black bear's face, winning him a little time, and it just took time to retrieve the spear. He inserted the end of the spear into the mud. The black bear was very close to him, and he had only time to find the right direction for the tip of the spear.

The black bear's weight bent the iron rod, and the blow penetrated deeply into the right shoulder of the black bear and got stuck in the bone. He gritted his teeth and shook the gun rod. The black bear's roar turned into a howl, and the beast was severely injured. It dragged its spear back, and the mud on the ground helped it, and the black bear finally broke free.

"Stop! I order you!" The princess got angry. The battle below had exceeded the scope of entertainment. How could human life be equivalent to animals?

Ivanov was waiting for this sentence, and he attracted the hunter who had already been prepared.

"No!" Lyon spoke, and he regained his balance with a spear. If it were in the wild, the black bear would have run away long ago, and the beast would not have risked being injured to hunt. But it had nowhere to escape, and the black bear retreated to the wall rushed over again, because of the injury to the right arm, it limped.

It was Emily's magic that blinded the dragon's eyes, and it was the dwarf standing in front of him with a shield, blocking the sweeping dragon claws. Flint was hit on the rock wall, and the tenacious dwarf vomited blood on the spot. Christina dragged the injured him into the corner, and the elves pounced on him. At a height of only three feet in front of his face, the fiery dragon flames spit out. Christina was scalded and screamed, but she didn't let go. They killed the dragon, and only Lyon got the title of brave.

It was time for the brave to deserve his reputation. He wanted to dodge to the left when the black bear rushed over. Unfortunately, his thigh was injured, so the dodge was only half completed. Lyon fell under the bear's mouth and stabbed a spear.

Victoria's face was as white as paper. She watched her childhood idol being carried out from under the corpse of a black bear. People put him on a stretcher and rushed to the church. The princess grabbed her skirt and followed her, with mud splashing all over her legs, and she didn't care.

As a royal princess, she had countless privileges, such as driving away the women in the room, especially Yelena. The priest cured Lyon's injuries, but he had to sleep for several hours. The princess was by the bed, and Regina accompanied her.

Until dinner time, Lyon didn't open his eyes. The dinner specially prepared by the mayor was still waiting. Victoria dragged it to Ivanov to come and invite her in person, and she could not be rude anymore. She walked to the door and wanted to look back and take a look. Lyon just woke up, touching his throat and swallowing.

She sent Regina to chat outside the door with the mayor, and the princess helped Lyon sit up. Victoria handed a cup full of water. Lyon drank too quickly, causing a new round of coughing. The princess patted his back and couldn't help but think of Yelena's hands. She stiffened and stopped.

"You have a good rest." The mayor was waiting outside the door, and the princess of the empire could not leave her master. Victoria put the empty cup back into place.

"I'm sorry." This sentence kept her.

"There's nothing to be a pity. Men always take risks for meaningless things. This is also nature." Victoria hoped that Lyon could understand that she was not just talking about fighting the black bear.

Judging from the brave's expression, he understood. Victoria didn't understand why she was angry. If she said that the person who was more qualified to get angry was Miss Christina, his fiancée.

‘Maybe this is disappointment?’ The princess thought of her mother. She was a big girl. She had long known that her father didn’t just like Miss Philipa’s throat. She couldn’t figure out why her mother turned a blind eye instead of driving the female poet out of the palace.

The brave and the princess did not break the window paper in the end. He was Christina's fiancé, Alexander's fiancée. Neither of them had a position to apologize or forgive.

First, there was a rushing horn, followed by a big bell ringing in the church, and the alarm broke the silence between the two. Lyon struggled to get out of bed, and Victoria supported him. The knight needed a little help before guarding his princess.
