Chapter 42: Fighting with Confucianism
In the magnificent hall, the four elders sat in the front in a fan shape, majestic surrounding Luo Quan, as if they were solemn judgment. Before they could speak, the invisible pressure had already made the energy in Luo Quan's body fluctuate.
Facing this scene, I saw it and was anxious, but I couldn't come forward to help him. I had to hang it on the beam, cross-legged with my hands, rubbing the fire phoenix golden feathers in my palms to a shiny shiny one.
"Uh, let's start." The elder wearing a red gold-inlaid monk hat and dressed in Nyingma sect gently tapped the floor with the peach wood stick in his hand. The sect shouted softly, and suppressed the whispering sounds inside and outside the hall. In addition to shocking everyone, including Luo Quan, he also took the position of controlling the scene.
Without any nonsense, the Great Elder asked Luo Quan a must-answer question for Tibetan Buddhism practice - asking him to explain what he believed to be the key to follow for monks' practice.
When I accompanied Luo Quan to study for a while, I also had a little idea of the background of this question - similar to the college entrance examination complex when we were in the present world, we can start from the background of the question and use specific situations to answer. For example, taking the teachings of the Nyingma School as an example, it is mainly divided into nine times and three parts. Then, by interspersing the essence of the three levels of upper, middle and lower exercises, you can summarize the essence.
Which nine vehicles are specifically? That is, the three vehicles of the exoteric teachings such as "Shravaka", "Sharpai Awakening", and "Bodhisattva"; then the three vehicles of the external tantra such as "State of the Storm", "Practice of the Storm", and "Yoga"; finally, the three vehicles of the inner supreme beings such as "Maha Yoga (Great Yoga), "Aru Yoga (Sorted Yoga), and "Adi Yoga (The Most Extreme Yoga)".
Among them, Ati Yoga is the "Great Perfection Method", which is the Nyingma School that focuses most on practicing the mind. It advocates that the human mind is originally pure and the three bodies are perfect. It is not fake, but is originally ready-made, which is quite similar to Luo Quan's nature.
So, Luo Quan, relying on the basic method of practicing Qi and mind that I taught him, he used internal energy to mingle with the Nyingma doctrines instilled in his mind, and passed through his mind like a lantern, and he had already explained the key to his cultivation in an orderly manner-
"I think that the so-called practice is nothing more than eliminating karma and purifying habits... and you will eventually realize your true nature and complete the Buddhist affairs."
This guy really confirmed the principle that "the meaning of reading a book a hundred times will be seen by itself." By relied on the accumulation of Buddhist scriptures and repeatedly reading Buddhist scriptures, he forced himself to use the proposition of "The Great Perfection Dharma" to "the nature is pure, the nature is suddenly formed, and great compassion is pervasive", combined with his own view on life and reincarnation, he developed the essence of practice that he recognized.
If this is based on current standards, whether it is the appropriateness of the discussion, the proper quotation, and the precise and conciseness of the induction, it has reached an impeccable standard. What is even more commendable is that it is increasingly a masterpiece to use the proposition of the Great Perfection to summarize your own discussion.
Sure enough, after a brief silence, the elder with a red gold monk hat first raised his thin and dry hands and applauded Luo Quan heavily. The remaining three elders also nodded and looked at each other, showing a look of praise for him on their faces.
It seems that this first question should be fine.
Next, it was the turn of the old man sitting on the left side, next to the elder who was wearing a red and black monk robe, who was sitting on the left side, asking a question. Seeing his similar outfit to Luo Quan, I had long recognized that he should be the representative of the Sakya Sect.
I saw that Luo Quan was a disciple of this sect, with his gray-white long eyebrows spreading out, and he indeed raised a question about this sect: Let Luo Quan evaluate the system of inheriting classics.
When I heard this question, I immediately realized the deep hostility of the elders of this sect towards Luo Quan, an alien boy. Why? You must know that the Sakya sect has always used the inheritance method passed down from generation to generation by the family.
Starting from the famous "Five Patriarchs of Sakya", the first ancestor Gongga Ningbo, the second ancestor Sonanzimo, the third ancestor Zaba Jianzan, the fourth ancestor Sakya Banzhida Gongga Jianzan, and then at the invitation of the Mongolian prince Kuodun, he sent his uncle Banzhida to Liangzhou for talks. The fifth ancestor Basiba Zhuijianzan, who made important contributions to the Yuan Dynasty's unification of Tibet, all came from a large family with a deep understanding of Buddhism.
Not to mention that over the past thousands of years, none of the young talents who stood out from the Tibetan family and famous families have never enjoyed the influence of the family's Buddhist nature since childhood, and have made achievements on the road of Buddhism.
Only the poor little shaman Luo Quan, who was born in Nanzhao, actually overcome all obstacles and defeated the generals, and came to the inner hall to challenge him, the authority of an elder from a famous family!
Although these background knowledge were instilled in her since childhood by Sharon's mother, who was obsessed with the rise and fall of Tibetan Buddhism, she had time to tell me, and Luo Quan may not be clear about it, but the unfair treatment he received in the Meili Snow Mountain Temple was empathetic.
However, Luo Quan, who had been in trouble, did not respond for a long time after hearing this question that was provocative. This surprised everyone, including me, and made the Great Elder Sakya who asked the question impatiently.
I saw that the elders of the Nyingma Sect looked at him with great praise just now, but the closed disciple he brought out was ruthlessly defeated. How can this nostalgic old man tolerate?
So, the elder thought Luo Quan was frightened, so he had already stroked his long beard with his hands, his hair was lightly relaxed, his eyes closed slightly, and his monk's robe shook, and he simply threw a series of questions about his own origins at Luo Quan. The purpose was very obvious. He asked questions openly and secretly, he was just scolding Luo Quan for being a unclean person, so that he would not embarrass him here.
Seeing the other party making things so difficult, Sharon couldn't stand it even sitting on the beam and eavesdropping, and his plump breasts were suddenly furious. If I hadn't been held down in time, I'm afraid this straightforward and fair girl would have been unable to help but jumped out of the hall to stand up.
Looking at Luo Quan again, his heart was still as calm as water, and he was still motionless, but his tongue was full of lotus flowers and his mouth was filled with speech passionately, and then he swallowed gently and spoke in a humble and arrogant manner.
Although he was not too slow to speak, he said it very well: First of all, he strongly affirmed the important contribution of the Sakya School to the development of Buddhist culture in Tibetan areas, and played an important role in protecting and promoting Tibetan Buddhism.
Immediately afterwards, he changed his mind and said fiercely that the Sakya school was bound by tradition and paid too much attention to the translation and debate of sutras and treatises, but he neglected to understand the mysteries of the scriptures in his practice.
For example, Luo Quan gave an example: The "Tao Fruit Method" in the Tantric Buddhism believes that there are three levels of practice of Buddhism. The first level is to give up "non-blessings" and "evil karma", do less bad things, and concentrate on doing good deeds, and you can be reborn in the three good realms in the next life.
The second level is to eliminate the "self-attachment" and no longer be subject to all tangible or intangible things. Troubles and sufferings cannot arise, and people can also be liberated from the pain of reincarnation.
The third level is to eliminate "all views, abandon ordinary people's thinking and insights, and follow the middle way, so that we can reach the state of wise people.
In this way, according to the great elder, emphasizing the origin of the essay is not contrary to the discussion on the highest level of practice in the "Tao Fruit Dharma"?
As soon as he finished speaking, the aggressive elder just now was speechless. As a gentleman on Liang, I couldn't help but secretly appalled at his wit.
Using the doctrine of one's own faction to attack the defects of one's own system is simply "using the spear of one's son, attacking the shield of one's son"! Beautiful job!
Seeing that the elder with red and black robes fell on the back of the chair in anger and was unable to speak without saying a word, the elder wearing white monk's robes could only smile and set up to smooth things over:
"This son is familiar with the scriptures and classics of various schools, and can answer questions from the two elders in a smooth manner. It is really rare. I will join in the fun and give him a question to test him."
After saying that, he had already left a "difficulty" behind it, which was roughly asking Luo Quan to talk about the difference between the "Mahashi Seal Method" in the Exoteric and Tantric Buddhism.
By the way, why did this elder ask this question? It was just because he was not someone else, but the great elder of the Kagyu Sect at that time. Without him reporting his family, Sharon and I could easily see the sect he belonged to from his outfit that was extremely similar to the traditional Hinduism of wearing white monk robes.
When I was helping Luo Quan to review before, I also heard a little about this Kagyu school. This Kagyu school mainly adopts the method of word-of-mouth teaching. In practice, it has been focused on self-cultivation and majoring in the method of maharaja. This maharaja has a clear distinction between exoteric and esoteric.
Let’s talk about the exoteric teachings. This is a method of cultivating the mind. It is the Maximum Seal of Emptiness. It requires practitioners to stay in one state of mind and not distinguish between good and evil, beautiful and ugly, so as to achieve meditation. However, the Maximum Seal of Tantric teachings is a method of self-cultivation. The Maximum Seal of Tantric Buddhism uses the dual movement of emptiness and joy as the way, and divides the Taiping Seal of Real Estate, the Maximum Seal of Emptiness and Joy, and the Maximum Seal of Light.
Its main purpose is to achieve a supreme state through the cultivation of the human body's breathing, meridians and mind.
Luo Quan and I have read those classics, and Luo Quan is naturally well aware of what I know. But he did not answer this "send point question" immediately, but he bowed deeply to the kind-hearted elder and gave him enough to the other party. Only then did he explain in detail the difference between the two sealing techniques in a clear and detailed manner, which is even more detailed than what I know.
What is commendable is that while Luo Quan explained, he also carefully demonstrated each seal for everyone. The standard of the technique was that even the onlookers from Kagyu sects could not help but whisper. Even if he didn't listen, I knew that those guys were probably amazed that even he could not switch so skillfully. Why did he do so skillfully when he got to Luo Quan's hands?
Haha, for more than half a month, during your sleep, Luo Quan has never stopped sleeping and has never stopped working hard.
Just fighting for this kind of energy, I think, as long as conditions allow, there should be no scriptures that he can't remember after reading them, right? Probably.
Finally, next, the last answer question is the last page.
