Chapter 229 Research Permission(1/2)
Juan's prayers were answered and Kafka's communication arrived.
After the connection, Juan saw a urinal through Kafka's eyes.
Juan was a little embarrassed and said, "Well, isn't it inconvenient? If not, I can contact you later."
Kafka didn't seem to care, he said: "We are all men, don't worry about these trivial things, we don't have time."
"What's wrong?"
"I am in the headquarters building of the pharmaceutical group, and I have contacted Dr. Grace, the general person in charge of Avatar affairs."
"Dr. Durex? Why does it sound so familiar?"
Kafka emphasized: "It's Grace, not Durex, Grace.
"Juan, you must make no mistake, this is very rude to a lady.
"If you call her Durex in front of her later, she will probably be unhappy, and then the matter will be over."
Juan said nonchalantly: "Okay, okay, I understand, Grace, plaid lace.
"But I have already entrusted you with this matter, why do you still need me to talk to her face to face?"
Kafka said quickly: "It was Dr. Grace who insisted on interviewing you. She said she needed to confirm your qualifications.
"I know you are not prepared for this, so I used the excuse of urination to take the time to ventilate with you.
"Take this information and see if it's familiar. There will be a test later, ah, no, she might ask about it later."
Juan received the information and after opening it, he saw an article called "Avatar Tracking Research Report", written by Dr. Grace.
While Juan was reading the article, Kafka explained:
"Dr. Grace has led a research project on Avatar for more than 20 years, and she is an authority in this regard.
"I just talked to her and said that my client, that is, you, is very interested in Avatar and wants to join this research project.
"As long as she agrees, then you have a reason to kill the Avatar.
"After all, research requires some destructive experiments, such as vivisection and so on. It's normal for a few Avatars to die."
Juan listened and read the article.
The article is in paper format, and the keywords are: evolution, mutation, humanization, and environmental impact.
The introduction at the beginning of the article reads:
"Avatars are evolving rapidly, and their body shape and appearance are getting closer to humans.
"This kind of change is different from the gradual process that took humans 4 million years to evolve from apes to humans.
"It's a mutation.
"The time point when the mutation occurred coincides with the time point when the Avatars were moved out of Pandora on a large scale.
"The average height of newly born avatars after migration is only 2 meters as adults, which is a huge change compared to the average height of native avatars of 3 meters.
"Furthermore, the appearance characteristics of the new Avatars are also moving closer to humans. Their skin color has changed from blue to light blue, and they are continuing to become albino, and their noses have become slimmer.
"This mutation occurs in various Avatar settlements across the star map, so there is reason to believe that the mutation is caused by the changes in the environment after leaving Pandora..."
Kafka continued to narrate: "Although Dr. Grace personally killed and dissected many Avatars during the research process.
"But she was very disgusted by the killing of the Avatar for non-research purposes.
“Considering that some people wantonly killed Avatars in the name of research, Dr. Grace convinced the upper management of the pharmaceutical group and obtained the right to approve the license.
"So if you don't convince Dr. Grace, you will never get permission."
At this point, Kafka lowered his voice and said: "There are rumors that Dr. Grace fell in love with a certain Avatar and had inter-racial love with him.
"Please note, this matter must not be mentioned during the interview with her.
"The reason I'm telling you is just to let you know how much Dr. Grace likes Avatar."
Juan roughly understood, he nodded and said: "Thank you, Kafka, your investigation is very detailed, I know what to do.
"Now, go find Dr. Grace and let me have a video interview with her."
Kafka did not leave the urinal immediately. He said with some embarrassment:
"Please wait a moment, I haven't peed yet."
"Aren't you pretending to be urinating?"
"I was just pretending, but after staying like this for a while, I really feel like peeing."
"Then hurry up."
"Don't push. The more you push, the harder it will be to urinate."
"If you can't get out, stop peeing."
"No, the feeling is very strong."
"Then you pee!"
"If it can't come out, it just can't come out."
"Do you have a problem with your prostate? It's inflamed. It could also be urinary stones or kidney deficiency. Do you live a normal life as a couple?"
"No, Juan, don't interrupt. The more you interrupt, the harder it will be for me to pee."
"I'm caring about you."
"Please, don't..."
"Why don't you go see a doctor? I think you really need to see a doctor. It must be because you sit and play games all the time. Let me tell you, sitting for a long time is really bad for your health."
"Please, Juan, stop talking..."
"Okay, if you don't want to say it, don't say it...Then let me help you shush, shush~shh~"
"Fuck, I was almost out, and I asked you to shush me again!"
"Impossible, shush, shush, I'm a professional. Let me give you another song - Mountains and Flowing Water. Listening to the sound of flowing water should be useful."
"forgive me!"
…
Five minutes later, Kafka finally peed. The water flow was thin and weak, and a few drops ended up on his pants.
Juan kindly advised: "You really need to see a doctor. This symptom is most likely testicular cancer. I suggest you have it removed as soon as possible."
In the sink mirror, Kafka looked pale and wanted to cry without tears.
…
After entering the conference room, Kafka turned the lens to the holographic projector.
So, Juan, who was holographically imaged, faced Dr. Grace.
This is a middle-aged woman, wearing an unironed blue striped shirt with the front open and an off-white undershirt underneath.
Her uncombed short brown hair hung loosely on her shoulders, giving her a slovenly look as she was obsessed with scientific research.
The other party's casual dress made Juan relax.
He greeted loudly: "Hello, Du..."
"Haha!"
Kafka's loud cough interrupted Juan's greeting and made the latter realize something.
So Juan immediately changed his words: "Durex with plaid..."
"Cough cough cough cough"
Kafka really coughed, his face turned red, and he seemed to be coughing out his lungs.
Dr. Grace didn't care about the title issue, or she was used to it.
She said directly: "You must be Juan. Since you want to study Avatar, there must be a research institution. Please tell me the name of your research institution."
Where did Juan come from as a research institution?
But his mind changed and he thought of something.
"Staying at home in college."
"University, that's fine, but with all due respect, I've never heard of this university. Is it formal?"
"Of course it's official. This is the organization code. Please check it."
It only took five seconds for Dr. Grace to find it.
"It is indeed a regular university, but it actually uses a pheasant as its school emblem. Are you serious?"
Juan joked casually: "The scenery here is beautiful and there are pheasants everywhere.
"We eat pheasants, use pheasants, no, I mean we dress ourselves with pheasant feathers.
"This is a regional characteristic, please don't look at us in a special way."
To be continued...
