Chapter 753

Old Man

Author: Erzi Congzhou

Old Man

Because once the Chinese character library is added, Chinese character encoding will account for 70-80% of the entire Unicode.

Although the information industry is supported by ASCII, the addition of Chinese characters seems a bit like a third-world population that always wants to speak more and does not want to use it, but after all, it has shown its existence and has conquered a huge territory, right?

And to be honest, the value of Zhou Zhi's suggestion is indeed extraordinary. If nothing else, even the committee is annoyed to death by the more than 20,000 code points of GB13000.

If, I mean if, Unicode can really become a universal standard, and Chinese characters occupy the most sufficient partitions because of their earliest participation, it will certainly be a good thing that will last for a long time.

The content of the defense gradually boiled down to a few questions.

How is the scalability of GB13000? Can it realize the functions of the Chinese Character Library in the future? What ideas can be used to achieve it?

The inherent advantages of Unicode are obvious, but how to join this alliance? After joining, how much say will it have in the alliance? Can the alliance come up with formal products in time? The most important thing is whether this standard can be adopted by the information industry around the world.

accepted by the world.

These are big questions.

As for how to achieve it, it has become a trivial matter.

The reason why it became a trivial matter is that through overtime work this week, the Computer Department of Shu University has verified Zhou Zhi’s idea, including dot matrix word sampling, encoding, warehousing, customization, disassembly, and assembly.

As well as using the old coupling function for stroke rendering, font generation and size control, the feasibility verification has been completed.

Even for text recognition, Shu University has made some attempts and prepared sufficient experimental data and complete project information, so that the part that should have been the most questioned became the first part to be agreed upon at the defense meeting, that is, this set of methodology.

is completely feasible.

This meeting lasted until three o'clock in the middle of the night, which fully reflected the country's determination to "catch up" with the information industry.

After eight hours of intense discussion, a consensus gradually began to form.

The country cannot afford the uncertainty of Unicode, so GB13000 must be launched first, but forward-looking research on Unicode must be carried out and efforts should be made to strive for conversion.

What Shu University is currently doing is also very meaningful. The Chinese character library dot matrix character collection is a key node in the process of Chinese character informatization. Although it has only completed the work of more than 40,000 characters, it is "compatible and reproducible" in the system.

Under the design idea of "expansion", these are not problems.

Even if the Unicode solution is not used in the future and only code points are expanded based on GB13000, this dot matrix character set can still be used.

The matter was discussed at this point, and the organizer of the meeting announced the adjournment and asked the staff to arrange for everyone to take a break.

At nine o'clock the next day, Zhou Zhi was woken up by the staff to go to the restaurant for dinner.

After dinner, Zhou Zhi was taken to a room. Inside, there was a middle-aged man wearing a black suit with a national emblem on his chest. He looked him up and down and asked, "Are you Zhou Zhi?"

"Yes, what's the matter?"

"Someone wants to meet you and listen to your suggestions about the Chinese character library." After finishing speaking, the middle-aged man asked again: "Do you have any more formal clothes?"

"Ah, this..." Zhou Zhi was now wearing shorts and disposable slippers from the hotel: "Yes, if you want to come to the ministry, Director Mai told you to bring a set of more formal clothes."

"Take it and put it on, I'll wait for you here."

The so-called more formal clothes were actually trousers, leather shoes, and a shirt. After Zhou Zhi put them on, she found that she had lost a lot of weight this week, and her clothes were a little baggy.

The computer room of Shu University is not a place for people.

The middle-aged man was much more pleased with Zhou Zhi's current appearance. He took him downstairs and got into a Hongqi car with a small license plate number. He patted the driver's back seat and drove off.

After that, the middle-aged man stopped talking. Zhou Zhi wanted to, but he didn't dare.

Soon the car drove into Chang'an Street, and Zhou Zhi became more and more familiar with the place where the car entered. It was next to the Forbidden City and near the Miantang Residence.

Soon the red flag car drove into a courtyard with a brand new door and soldiers standing guard.

The car stopped in the yard, and the middle-aged man said to Zhou Zhi: "We're here, get out of the car."

Following the middle-aged man into a courtyard gate and walking through a corridor, the middle-aged man asked Zhou Zhi to take him to a room to sit down, asked him to wait for a while, and then went out.

The things here are all good things. As soon as the middle-aged man walked around, he couldn't sit still. He stood up and threw himself next to the red sandalwood wall vase hanging on the wall.

Wall vase, also known as hanging vase or sedan vase, is a kind of decorative porcelain that became popular since Xuande.

Each style of porcelain has its own function. This kind of bottle often has tying ears, which can be hung or inlaid as a decoration on the wall or on the sedan chair.

In the Qing Dynasty, this kind of bottle gradually evolved into a musical style and basically evolved into the bottle style, but it was cut in half vertically and the back was flat.

Folks have a name for this kind of bottle, which is called "half-sided bottle".

As a decorative porcelain from the official kilns of the Qing Dynasty, this thing is naturally complicated and exquisite, and its production technology is much higher than that of ordinary porcelain.

There are two hanging screens in this set. One of them has three half-vases, with patterns of green pastel double dragons, blue background with gold Kui dragon pattern, open window landscape pattern, and gourd-shaped multicolored cloud and phoenix pattern.

The most amazing thing is that although the dragon patterns, landscapes and phoenixes of the bottles on both sides are different, the tire shape and background color are exactly the same.

In other words, if you cut off the half bottles on both sides, you can merge them into three round bottles.

The two bottles on the top are from Qianlong. The landscape poem in the middle is also an imperial poem composed by Qianlong. The bottom one is the most precious, it is an object from Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty.

The three pairs of half-sided bottles are all extremely exquisite, especially the Chenghua colorful ones found here, which is something extraordinary.

How amazing is it? The famous chicken vat cup that was added to the auction in later generations was Cheng Huacai.

For a while, Zhou Zhi began to study the gourd wall vase, so engrossed in it that he forgot where he was.

"Are there any specialties about these bottles?" A soft voice sounded in Zhou Zhi's ears, speaking in Sichuan dialect.

"There must be someone talking about the first three. One of the mountains and rivers in the middle is hung alone, which is called 'half of the country'. If they are hung in a pair, with the dragon on the top and the phoenix on the bottom, it is called 'dragon flying and phoenix hanging, the country is full of mountains and rivers'!" Zhou Zhi

He lovingly reached out and touched the phoenix on the colorful gourd vase: "Things from the Chenghua Year of the Ming Dynasty bring you blessings if you touch them. Where can you buy them, old man..."

After turning his head after saying this, Zhou Zhi saw clearly the short old man in front of him, and suddenly remembered where he was now: "Master... Grandpa..."

"Hey, you are a child of the Zhou family, and I can't be your grandpa." The old man was quite humorous, pointing at Zhou Zhi and then at himself: "They don't have the same last name!"

The man in front of him was a big man whom Zhou Zhi had admired for two lifetimes. He was the pride of the Shu people. Zhou Zhi never expected that in this life, he would have a chance to interview him.
