Chapter 365: Battle of Jaquessa (IV)

At five o'clock in the morning on August 27, the skylight began to turn from black to white. The artillery positions of the Northern Navy took the lead in firing. The target of the artillery corner fort was the Russian army's third trench located four kilometers away. There were five artillery corner forts outside the city of Jaxa, with 3 to 4 12-pound cannons installed on each.

In the era of line tactics, the shape of this artillery corner fort was a two-meter-high triangular arch. On the outside of the arch was a two-meter-deep trench connected to the trench. No matter which direction the enemy attacked from the front of the Triangular Fort, they would be hit by condescending attacks. Russian infantry could also reach the inside of the corner fort from both sides of the trench and step onto the steps to strike the attacking infantry.

The problem is that the Northern Navy will not fight with the Russian army like this. The reason why Zhao Xin chose this time to launch was to make the Russian army confused about its artillery positions.

"What a pity!" Suvorov said lightly in the command of Yaksa City, with no expression on his face. In fact, he never expected that the enemy on the opposite side would launch an attack half an hour earlier than him.

"Order all artillery from the third line of defense to shoot in the enemy's direction, and the Siberian Hunting Battalion launched a tentative attack from the southeast side to the enemy's left wing. If I guessed correctly, they had already dispatched. Notify the ancient city island to pay attention to the movements of the enemy's fleet, and report it in time if you find it."

On the Russian defense line, a heavy shelling sounded from the southernmost point. The 24-pound shells sprayed out of the guns of the rumbling artillery of the North Navy opposite and disappeared. After a few minutes, the second and third shellings on the Russian position shocked the air one after another; from south to north, the fourth and fifth shelling continued to roar.

The initial shelling sound had not completely disappeared, and the shelling sounds on other triangular forts sounded again, rushing to one after another, and the cannons were fired together, and they were all set up.

The Northern Navy's artillery fire was tested at one shot and then five shots to knock out several triangular forts outside the Russian defense line one by one.

There were soldiers holding muskets on the second trench defense line outside the city of Jaxa, behind the chest wall and in the trench. In the open space between the third and second trenches, balls of soil and black smoke kept rising out of nothing. They first appeared in a single place, and then flashed in groups; sometimes sparse and sometimes dense, clusters of explosions of flames swelled with the air ball, rolling violently, and mixed into a piece.

On the Northern Navy's starting position three kilometers away from the Russian army, whistles sounded one after another, and the position was instantly boiling like boiling water. The infantry of two battalions jumped out of the trenches and began to advance towards the Russian right wing.

With the 33 tactics, more than a thousand North Navy soldiers set up a wide attack pattern, they covered each other and advanced crosswise. This scene fell into the eyes of the Russian army opposite, and became waves, rushing towards them one after another.

"O God! How many people did they dispatch!"

"What a bunch of lunatics, how could he be so aggressive!"

"Hurry and hide!" The person who spoke was a veteran who had fought with the Northern Navy. "Brothers, be careful! The enemy's rifle has a long range."

In the open space before the two chest walls of the third trench, two eight-pound cannons were dragged to the position by dozens of Russian soldiers. After more than ten seconds, with two "bang-bang" sounds, two shells sprayed out from the muzzle with flames. After sliding in the air for hundreds of meters, they continued to bounce forward after landing in the wilderness full of weeds, and finally disappeared in the grass powerlessly.

"No! The 8-pound cannon cannot reach the enemy. Where is our 12-pound cannon?" the Russian gunner shouted.

The artillery warrant officer on the side sighed, and his face was smoked by gunpowder. Not to mention the 12 infantry pound guns, there is no chance of 24 pounds of infantry cannons, it takes at least 18 pounds of fortress cannons to obtain.

20 minutes after the Northern Navy launched the artillery bombardment, about fifty Russians were carried out from two triangular artillery bases; except for a 12-pound artillery that was blown up, the other five artillery was destroyed.

As the Northern Navy launched the attack entered more than 2,000 meters away from the Russian position, the mortar group following behind also opened fire. The drones shuttled and stayed in the sky, and the observers in the camp kept reporting the distance of the Russian firepower points to the mortar group ahead. The 4-kilogram grenades fell scattered on the right wing of the third semicircular trench of the Russian army, and the shells flying further away made a sharp whistling sound.

"Admiral, the enemy's artillery fire is too fierce, and our artillery bases in front have been lost."

"Have the enemy's artillery position been found?" Suvorov was secretly frightened. He finally saw the ferocity of the Northern Navy's cannons, which exceeded his understanding of artillery.

"It seems to be on the north side of their camp, at least five kilometers away from us."

"What?!" Suvorov was stunned.

A few minutes later, hundreds of Russian troops in linen uniforms braved bombing and smoke and passed through the trench. The captain in charge raised his command knife and shouted: "Brothers! It's our turn! Hunters attack!"

Suddenly, the explosion of air waves pushed the captain into the edge of the trench behind him. At this moment, balls of fire flashed in front of him, exploded and howled, almost tearing his eardrums apart, shaking his ears.

When he woke up and sat up with his hands, the hunter who had been about to set off had already fallen down a large area. The ground was scattered with burnt linens and weapons, and the craters were filled with blood on the burnt ground. A horse dragged the scattered shaft and galloped past him; the other horse lay on the ground, making a shrill cry.

In the command of the Northern Navy, Zhao Xin asked a staff officer: "Have the Russian cavalry been found?"

"Not yet, only a small number of cavalry were found after the second trench."

"Continue to search," Zhao Xin looked at the map he made for a while and pondered for a while. He used a pencil to draw a circle in a large wooded area northeast of Jaquessa City, and said to the adviser: "Let the No. 2 drone search here."

"Okay." Zhao Xin nodded and said to another adviser: "Notify the artillery positions, and all artillery positions turn to the Russian positions in Emuer to open fire, and drive them all to the ancient city island!"

Captain Ivankov, who was bombed as soon as he set out, was already scared to death. After he was pulled into the trench by several soldiers who escaped by chance, he felt that he had escaped from the horror of hell.

There was no sound of shooting in the cannon base not far away. He stood on the mud stairs to check the movements outside the trench, and saw that the enemies on the opposite side were less than 200 feet away from him.

"Chirp! Chirp!" The bullet hit a very close place in front of Captain Ivankov, splashing clusters of soil, which scared him to shrink back quickly.

"Brothers! Get ready to shoot, the enemy is attacking!"

Hundreds of Russian musketeers stood on the mud stairs and began to prepare for shooting, but several of them were killed as soon as they showed up.

Seeing the enemy opposite approaching, Captain Ivankov remembered what the general said, and shouted: "Brothers! Don't stare at the enemy's eyes, look at their chests. Your bayonets are going to stab there!"

The Russian army's muskets began to roar, and flames gushed over the trenches accompanied by white smoke. Just as the Russian army was busy loading, more than a dozen black things suddenly appeared in the sky and fell into the Russian army's trenches one after another.

"Look down!"

It was too late, and explosions came one after another in the trench, and balls of fire and soil erupted on the horizon. When Captain Ivankov once again supported his body with his hands and shook off the soil on his body, a sharp bayonet flashed in front of him.

"kill!"

Captain Ivankov instinctively waved the saber in his hand and tried to open the bayonet, but both of them used too much force and then they collided. They rolled and tore up in the trench, and the North Navy soldier's helmet also fell. Both sides tried to pinch each other's throat and tugged each other's eyes.

The sound of gunfire, killing and shouting were chaotic in the trenches, and the Russian army was a little panicked. They did not expect these Tatar-faced guys to be so fierce.

For several seconds, Captain Ivankov saw the opponent's strange face. He looked at the opponent's fierce gaze, and an instinctive fear floated into his heart. His right hand pinched the opponent's throat tighter and tighter. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain coming from his waist, and all his strength was pulled away with the pain.

"Am I shot? Or am I going to be captured?" The thought only stayed for a moment, and Captain Ivankov's right hand was weakly released, and darkness fell in front of him.

At this time, the sun had risen from the east, and the sunlight was divided into several channels by fragments of floating clouds and smoke, and fell on the Russian army's positions. In the sunlight, everything on the ground was boiling. The earth was covered with stains by shells, and countless bloodthirsty steel fragments remained in a pool of blood waiting to rust after completing their mission; the retreating Russian army was constantly caught up by the bullets behind them and fell to the ground.

Monk Zhou helped Kang Youcai, who was gasping for breath, half gloomy and half reproached, saying, "Kang Youcai, you are so fierce! You don't need to have bullets, you have to fight with Rakshasa? If Xiaoqi didn't help you, I would have to burn paper money for you next year."

Kang Youcai looked at the corpse covered in mud on the ground with lingering fear, and said to Monk Zhou: "Company Commander, this is an official, I want to, think, think..."

"Get out! Your courage is commendable, your behavior is stupid..." Monk Zhou was about to continue criticizing him, and a solid iron ball passed by several meters above his head. Monk Zhou subconsciously shrank his neck and shouted to the soldiers on both sides: "Be careful to hide!"

On the two forts in the Yaquesas Castle, the Russian army's 12-pound cannons opened fire one after another, targeting the third trench that had just been occupied.

Suvorov finally couldn't wait. He found that his opponent's attack methods were far beyond his imagination, making all the experience he had accumulated in his previous decades of combat career worthless. If he continued to fight passively, the enemy would attack the city in a blink of an eye.

"Order the cavalry to attack, target, enemy artillery positions. Tell them that they must destroy their cannons at all costs!"

Two Russian cavalry regiments began to attack. However, because there were large and small puddles and swamps on the north side of the artillery position in Beihai Town, the Russian cavalry could not launch an attack on the vast front. In some areas, the Russian cavalry could only charge in platoons. Except for the two companies left as reserves, the Cossack cavalry of other companies had already entered the wave of attack.

On the defensive position located outside the North Navy artillery position, the soldiers on several anti-aircraft artillery positions faintly heard the sound of killing: "Woo la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la!

On the horizon, hundreds of Russian cavalry emerged, holding spears, ready to launch a fatal blow to the Northern Navy.

"Fire!" From the morning to the present, whether it is Zhao Xin or Liu Sheng, they are waiting for this moment. If they destroy this cavalry, they can concentrate on dealing with the city of Yaquesa.

The sound of gunfire as dense as drums sounded at anti-aircraft gun positions everywhere, hundreds of shells whizzed through the puddles and swamps, constantly exploding among the Russian cavalry, and the originally neat storm formation suddenly became messy.

More and more Cossack cavalry were knocked down by the explosion of air waves, and the exploded grenades exploded on the ground like gorgeous fireworks set off in the early morning.

A Cossack, who was suppressed by a dead horse, shouted in horror: "Brothers! Don't leave me behind, help me..."

boom!

Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da!

Dozens of light and heavy machine guns on the Northern Navy's positions also began to fire, launching light shots at the cavalry that escaped the artillery fire and continued to charge.

On the sandy land that is one kilometer wide, the artillery fire of the Northern Navy caused white smoke columns to explode like whirlwinds to frequently rise from the Russian cavalry that was rushing, and the waves of attacks of the cavalry were still surging. The shrapnel splashed from the center of the explosion were like pouring rain, sprinkling on the attackers; the machine gun fire on the position even more ruthlessly and scattered all living things they could see in their sight.

The impact waves of the Russian cavalry were like the Heilongjiang water hitting the stone bank in spring, and they were shattered. They never rushed through the first barbed wire. In just over twenty minutes, more than 700 Russian cavalry were killed.

At Emulkaron, as the artillery fire of the Northern Navy continued to explode on the Russian defense line, the Russian troops stationed here had been bombed before they could see the enemy opposite. They shouted in panic, regardless of the officer's orders, fled to the floating bridge in a hurry and retreated to the bastion on the ancient city island.

One kilometer away, the First Battalion of the Second Regiment of the Northern Navy, fired dozens of shells at the Russian military camp with three mortars it carried, and then launched a charge.

By 7 a.m., all the Russian camps in Emulkaron were taken down by the Northern Navy.

At 7:10, after changing the coordinates, the Russian bastion on the ancient city island began to be baptized by the Northern Navy cannons. More than 2,000 Russian troops had no way to heaven and no door to the ground. They could only hide under the fort wall and pray helplessly to God.

Suvorov and his officers looked at everything in front of them in amazement. They did not expect that the "Qing people"'s offensive was so violent that they were beaten to no avail.

This is no longer a war he is familiar with. Compared with the enemies opposite, Suvorov felt that the tactics and tactics he learned since childhood were completely out of date. Whether it was Alexander Macedonia, Hannibal, or even contemporary tactical masters Conde, Tirener, Prince Eugen Sava, and Rumensev, they had no choice but to face such enemies.
