Chapter 370: The wind in the sky moves and the earth brings flames to the spirit
Zhao Xin and his team led their army to fight against Tsarist Russia in the north, while the island country hanging in the south was already in chaos because of a barbecue conference in Kyoto at the beginning of the year.
Bah! It was wrong, it was a fire.
The cause of the incident was the plan to break up the sons and grandchildren by Zhao Xin and Pingtai.
After successfully dealing with the Takashi family last year, Heita became bolder. This guy thought that instead of doing it one by one, it would be better to have a big field, and it would be better to solve it at one time.
It is not uncommon for fires in island cities in this year, and all-wood structures often lead to uncontrollable fires and heavy losses.
Not to mention the distance, there was a fire in Kyoto eighty years ago in the fifth year of the 5th year of the 19th century. At that time, all the Monkey King Hall, the Sento Imperial Hall, the Maiden Imperial Hall, and the East Milk Imperial Hall were burned. From the Kujo family, the Takashi family and other public residences to the temples and choyas, the entire core area of Kyoto were affected by the fire. More than 10,000 houses in 417 towns, including the famous Fokami Temple, Shimoya Shrine and other temples were burned.
Unlike the ancients who set fire to add firewood and pour some oil, the arson tool provided by Beihai Town to Pingtai is aluminum-thermal agent and napalmite developed by Fanghua Research Institute. The mixture of napalmite is similar to the sugar dipped in candied haws. It is a semi-coagulant paste, which is convenient for transportation and carrying. In addition, Fanghua also adds some active metals to it, such as calcium powder, barium powder, etc.
But Heita never expected that his plan to start early because of another sudden fire, almost burning himself to death, which in turn brought a catastrophe to the entire Kyoto!
On March 7, 1788, the early morning of January 30, 2018, a long-standing house in the Tuanriba District, Miyagawa-cho on the east side of Kasugawa, southeastern Kyoto, caught in a long-standing uninhabited house. That night, there was a strong southeastern wind, and the fire soon spread throughout the block.
(The fire in real history also started from here, and the cause of the fire was unknown.)
Tuanli Paiwu District was burning with heat waves, but those thatched with Mars were blown by the wind to the block across the Kamakawa area. In the past, the roofs of the island people were almost covered with thick thatch. In the dry season, whenever a little Mars fell, a fire would ignite.
The fire came too hastily, and there were many thatchs floating on the other side. The fire of the town with only a dozen people could not take care of it. The town turned into a sea of fire in a blink of an eye.
At the same time, the companions sent by Hirata and the two towns of Kitakai were sleeping in a house in Kahara-choto on the east side of Kyoto. The reason they chose to live here is because Kahara-cho and Kiya-cho are both very lively areas in Kyoto. They are mixed in the bustling city and pretend to be business travelers, so they will not be too eye-catching.
It was a coincidence that the two large boxes of napalm transported from Kyushu through Osaka just arrived yesterday and were placed in the warehouse in the yard. The boxes were sealed napalm in bags of plastic bags, and were covered with silk for concealing.
When the fire broke into Honnoji Temple, Heita and his companions were awakened by the screams on the street. The three of them walked to the yard and saw that, the Honnoji Temple on the south was already in the sky.
Peta and his companions looked at each other in front of each other, thinking who did this? We haven’t taken action yet!
The original plan of the three was to set fire in Nijo City, Jinli and Xiandong Imperial Site. The petrol bombs are not ready yet... Bad food! petrol bombs!
The three men, who knew the power of the gasoline bomb, turned green all of a sudden. The previous fire in the Takashi family was proved that it could not be extinguished at all. If it weren't for the west wind at that time, the entire Kyoto would have been able to do so.
Stop talking nonsense, run away! The three of them had no time to get anything, so they wore a white underwear, and ran out of the yard with barefoot and ran north with the flow of people. When they reached the intersection, they went eastward, and a hundred meters away was Yachuan. The three of them rolled and crawled into the river, intending to swim to the other side.
As soon as Heita, who was running at the end, he heard a "boom" behind him, a mushroom-shaped fireball rose from the ground, and the entire Kyoto Castle suddenly became bright as daytime.
With the yard where Heita and his friends lived as the center of the circle, the ignition and unlit napalm bags erupted from the two boxes splashed in all directions. The high temperature of nearly a thousand degrees suddenly covered the entire Kaharacho and Teracho. The fire, which was responsible for extinguishing the fire, was stunned and threw away the tools and ran away.
With the wind, the fire quickly burned across two streets and rushed towards the Nijo Castle Imperial Office to the west and the Gongjiayashiki area to the north.
Heita and the other two crawled out of the Kasukawa River in wetness, ran east for several miles before stopping, looking back at the burning sky in the distance, thinking that it was too lingering and almost ran out.
In another time and space, this famous "Dao Dawn Fire" in history burned for two days, known as the largest fire in Kyoto during the Edo period. However, in this time and space, with the help of two boxes of about 200 kilograms of napalm, it burned for four days before it gradually faded, and more than 5,000 people were buried in the fire.
All 1,967 towns in Kyoto were burned down, and more than 40,000 houses, more than 200 temples, and more than 30 shrines were all turned into ashes. Kyoto Imperial Hall, Nijo Castle, Kyoyayashiki, Nishima Joseon Hall, Sakoji Temple, Kintoku Temple, Kanzuen Garden, Rokakado, Harumi Shrine, Kamo Yuzu Shrine, Kamo Yuzu Shrine, and East-West Honan Temple were all turned into ruins.
The most unlucky ones were Fushimi Miyaki Hanori's family, all of which were killed; five of the six sons of the Miyaki Norien's family died; the Komure family, the Ichi family, the Nijo family, the Kyujo family, and the Takashi family, who had just been adopted from the Ichigoji, suffered heavy casualties, and the last female emperor in the history of the island country, the 117th generation of the Hosakamatsu Emperor, was unable to escape from the sea of fire and was buried in the Immortal Cave Imperial Hall.
However, the big boss Kasuhito of Kyoto, that is, Emperor Mitsugu, escaped by chance under the protection of Kyoto Sojidai and hid in the Holy Guardian east of Kyoto.
After hearing this news, Heita and the other two sighed. They thought they had known that there would be such a fire, and they should have buried a box of napalm in the Holy Guardian the night before the fire.
Emperor Mitsugu, who escaped by chance, was not called Kentori before, but "Shiren". Because his Japanese pronunciation is the same as "Dead", he changed his name after ascending the throne. In another time and space, Kentori was the direct ancestor of the modern emperor in history.
Emperor Mitsugu showed great grief about the misfortune of Gosakuracho. Since he ascended the throne eight years ago, due to his bloodline, the only one who could rely on and help him was the empress.
Why is this like this? Because the previous Emperor Houtaoyuan died too hasty, and the only descendant Prince Xinzine was only one year old. So after being elected by the ministers, Emperor Guangge, who was the candidate at that time, was quickly appointed as the prince because he showed closest to Prince Xinzine.
Moreover, his future queen is nothing else, but Prince Xinzine, who was only one year old when he ascended the throne. If it is counted by seniority, it is that his uncle and grandfather married his granddaughter. But this is nothing to the island country, after all, his bloodline has been separated by three generations.
But the problem lies in Guangge's bloodline that has been separated by three generations. To put it bluntly, it means that the bloodline is impure! Therefore, whether it is the public or the martial family, they do not respect the adopted emperor very much, and even criticize it among the people.
Since bloodline cannot be respected, there is only one way to strive for respect, sacrifice. To put it bluntly, it is to restore the ritual system through celebration activities, which is what Confucian culture calls "etiquette as the foundation of governance."
The first is the festival celebration of "Shuodan Winter Solstice".
In ancient times, the Emperor of the Island Kingdom would come out of the main hall "Zichen Hall" at this time every year. However, since the Yingren Rebellion, it has not been held for more than 300 years due to the war.
So from May of the sixth year of Tianming (1786), Emperor Mitsugu expressed to the shogunate through the "Wu Family Memorial" that he wanted to personally participate in the festival celebration of the "Shuodan Winter Solstice". The shogunate did not think much and quickly approved it, and also approved 200 stones of rice as a fee.
However, Emperor Mitsugu and a group of nobles seemed to have forgotten one thing. The last Emperor Houtaoyuan passed away in November, so November is the "Jiyue". As the adopted son of Emperor Houtaoyuan, Emperor Mitsugu also married Prince Kinkone. Then, a celebration that had not been held for more than 300 years in the "Jiyue" when the previous Emperor died was simply a "grave dance".
Sacrifices must be held, so after communicating with the shogunate, the month of the jealousy will be changed to the day of the jealousy, as long as the celebration is not held before November 9th.
Later, Emperor Mitsugu worked hard to restore the new sacrifice in the sixth year of Tianming. The revival of various sacrifices not only improved Emperor Mitsugu's status in the minds of the ministers, but was also very popular among the people of Kyoto. After all, there were more sacrificial activities in the palace, and the atmosphere of the city would be much more lively, which required more materials and personnel, and the people of Kyoto would also get more business and employment opportunities.
In this way, Emperor Guangge gradually implemented his "retro plan".
Last year, there was a riot of rice robbery in Edo, Osaka, Kyoto and other places? So the people needed a clear spiritual sustenance, and Emperor Mitsugu organized etiquette to make the nearby towns and farmers feel that there is a person who can rely on to visit.
The fire in Kyoto shocked the world. The emperor had no more palaces, so the issue of reconstruction was put on the table.
Who paid for this money? Of course, it was the Tokugawa Shogunate. Emperor Mitsugu only had 100,000 stones a year, so he had to support a large group of people, so he naturally had no money.
But the Tokugawa shogunate now has only 800,000 taels of deposit. Due to the military sent last year, the Kyushu family who were beaten by the Beihai Shou and the various expenses that will be incurred this year, the fiscal deficit is expected to exceed 2 million taels of gold.
It was precisely because of the big financial hole that Matsu Ping Shin-chan, the first old shogunate, disagreed with the public and decided to ease the confrontation with the Sendai vassal. At the end of February this year, with the approval of Tokugawa Ichichi, he sent representatives to conduct secret negotiations with the Sendai vassal.
And the Sendai Fan looks different.
It is said that after joining hands with Beihai Town to destroy the Satsuma vassal last year, the territory of the Sendai vassal soared by 600,000 stones, and the actual total stone height has reached nearly 2 million stones, becoming the world's largest name after the shogunate.
Now the three counties in the north of the Sendai State District belong to Beihai Town, and there are 2,700 troops stationed in the garrison to help resist the shogunate's offensive. At the same time, Mu Ao has received financial and material assistance from Beihai Town and trained the new army. It can be said that the guns and cannons are sharp, the soldiers are strong, and they are simply amazing.
When Daming, the foreigner Kyushu and Muro Ouwa saw this, they all secretly talked with the Sendai vassal, either surrendering to the shogunate or secretly doing business behind their backs.
Faced with the envoys sent by the shogunate, the Sendai family led by Fumi Ishikawamura was clear and the requirements were clear, and there were only two: declare the Shimazu family a rebellion, and the land of the Three Kingdoms of the Mid Kyushu was transferred to the Ida family; and in addition, the wife of Atsuki and Shizuru were sent back.
It’s nothing to be reborn, as long as the Sendai clan guarantees no longer using force. But it’s impossible to tell the world that the Shimazu family is rebellious, so it’s impossible to accept it.
Everyone in the world knows that the Masamoto wife of General Sama is Shimazu Shigeo's daughter, and last year the shogunate announced that Ida Shigemura died of a serious illness; now it is said that Shimazu family is rebellious, isn't this a slap in the face?
So the negotiations continued to be delayed, and the two sides had no agreement after more than half a year.
The Tokugawa shogunate in Edo was in a panic. The Kyoto ministers who lived in temples actually began to jump up and down, and some people even shouted out "Great Master Returns".
Things have to start with the reconstruction of the palace.
After the fire, the first old middle-aged man, Matsupei Dingshino, led a team to Kyoto in May to inspect the disaster and stayed for ten days. After inspecting the emperor's temporary residence, "Saint Guardian", Matsupei Dingshino asked the Kyoto Office to report to the Wu family, hoping to build one or two temporary palaces for Kenin and the ministers to live in, and then rebuild the palace complex as it was when the burned palace was restored.
Nothing else, the shogunate is too poor now! He even proposed that "the beauty of the palace is also the blood of the common people", hoping that the Kyoto court can "correct the bad habits of luxury."
But in mid-June, after receiving the instruction from Zhao Xin, Liu Zheng, who had moved from Shiqiubin to Aoye City, found Ishikawa Village. This guy has been living a shameless life in the island country for more than a year, and his daily conversation level has improved by leaps and bounds.
"I heard that there was a fire in Kyoto and the Emperor's palace was burned out?"
Fumishi Ishikawamura didn't understand Liu Zheng's purpose, so he followed the other party's words and said, "Yes, this kind of inexplicable natural disaster is really terrible."
Liu Zheng asked Ishikawamura Fumishi to retreat, and then whispered: "Old Ishikawa, don't you think it's a good opportunity right now?"
Fumidao Ishikawamura: "What does Liu Sang mean?"
"Sintai Fan wants to compete with Edo, when will he wait until the court is won over?"
"Hiss~" Ishikawamura Fumiya heard this and thought to himself. If we don't become the general of the Conquest, we can just be a Guan Bai. At that time, we will compete with the Tokugawa family. It will be very beautiful to think about it!
"But, the remaining funds of this vassal are not much. You know how Liu Sang spent the three million taels of gold that Zhao Dian borrowed before."
Of course, Liu Zheng knew that most of the three million had become ships of grain, artillery, various commodities produced in Beihai Town, and the name of the Daming that bought Mu Ao Chuyu.
In the years of hunger, everyone is very realistic. Who can get along with you without money or food?
Liu Zheng smiled and said, "I have already told Zhao Dian that I will provide an interest-free loan of 2 million taels to the Sintai Fan, how about it?"
Fumi Ishikawamura was overjoyed and slapped Lin Xi with a fan and nodded, "This way, big things can be accomplished!"
So in late June, the Sendai Fan, who had obtained the loan from Beihai Town, sent someone to secretly send 500,000 taels of gold to Kyoto. With the money, the Kyoto court was determined to rebuild it from top to bottom according to the style of the palace in the Heian era.
Emperor Guangge first summoned Guchan, a monk who had been studying the history of palace architecture in private. This person has been trying to verify and restore the palace drawings of the Heian era for the past 30 years, and later he compiled it into a thirty-volume "Da Neirima". Many years ago, Guchan was punished for being involved in political disputes - that is, thinking about his mistakes behind closed doors. Now, in order to rebuild the palace, Emperor Guangge not only pardoned him, but also appointed him as an advisor to rebuild the palace.
However, the ministers are not fools. No matter how bad the Tokugawa family is, the lord of the world, so the Kyoto court began to think about the details of the design drawings. Although the new corridor buildings were added to the Zichen Temple and Qingliang Temple on the drawings, the drawings that were finally handed over to the Edo Shogunate for review were 10 square meters less than the total area of the previous palace burned, with a total of 1,514 square meters (nearly 5,000 square meters).
Emperor Mitsugu's courage to do this means that with the support of the Sendai vassal, he began to challenge the Tokugawa shogunate that had been drawn for almost two hundred years.
In July of the first year of Yuanhe, that is, on September 9, 1615, Tokugawa Ieyasu and Osaka Natsuma formation destroyed the power of Toyotomi clan, and signed a legal provision with the court representative Nijo Akimi in Nijo Castle, called "The Notice of the Prohibition of the Chinese Imperial Territory".
This law, which contains seventeen articles, mainly defines the responsibilities of the emperor and the ministers. It not only clarifies the emperor's monarchy, but also informs the world that the "major politics" will be entrusted to the shogunate, and Kyoto will not interfere in politics from then on.
Emperor Mitsugu's retro actions and measures to rebuild the palace gradually made his prestige reach its peak. So he "better the more he fights", and sent someone to pass on a message to Edo, wanting to give his biological father a title.
As early as the beginning of his ascension, Emperor Mitsugu asked whether he could add the title of "Shanghuang" to his father, Miya Norihito, and if it was realized, the latter would be able to receive the treatment of the Emperor, but the shogunate did not comment at that time.
Just kidding! Your legal father is the Emperor of Houtaoyuan, and the Xianyuan Palace is a minister.
At the end of August, under the agitation of the Kyoaka nobles who had received bribes from the Sendai vassal, Emperor Mitsugu made a comeback and sent a letter to the shogunate, which cited two "precedents" of "not ascending the Supreme Emperor" (i.e., the emperor who did not ascend to the throne), and asked the shogunate to discuss the issue of giving the 57-year-old Prince Norien.
In early September, the letter was handed to the hands of Matsupei Ding-chan, the first old master of the shogunate. After reading it, Matsupei Ding-chan and other old masters were furious and severely scolded the ministers who delivered the letter, which scared the other party and was so cold that they were sweating.
It's a rebellion! A mascot really treats himself like a garlic! Do you still know who he is?!
The reason why Matsuhei Tatsuki was so angry was that there was another similar thing happening in Edo. The current general, Tokugawa Kichi, wanted to add the title of "Da Imperial Site" to his father Tokugawa Jiji to show his filial piety.
As the initiator and implementer of the "leniency reform" in the Edo era, Matsuhei Tatsunobu attached great importance to building an ideology that maintained the stability of the Edo shogunate. Compared with filial piety, he attached more importance to hierarchical order.
Although your son was lucky enough to become a general, as long as the legal father was not you, you must bow your head and be a minister. This is like the Guangxu and Puyi in the late Qing Dynasty. When his father came, he would be courteous and called him a "slave".
As long as you do not have the experience of taking over as a general or emperor, you will not be awarded the titles of "Great Imperial Hall" and "God of Emperor".
