Chapter 787: One Night of Breaking the Dream of Abundant (1)

Kaoshantun is located under a small hill more than ten miles northwest of Xiaoheishan Post. This is the remnant of Yiwulu Mountain. The villagers are all Han people who moved from Xiaoheishan Post in their early years.

One hundred and fifty years ago, the Qing army entered the pass in large numbers, and millions of family members and servants of the coat of arms followed the army south, causing the population of Shengjing to decrease sharply, and once fell into a state of sparse land and deserted fields. At the worst, there was no one to be seen when you walked out of Shengjing for a hundred miles.

In order to change this situation, in the tenth year of Shunzhi, the Qing court issued the "Liaodong Recruitment Order", and the earliest "Chuangguandong" in the history of the Qing Dynasty also began.

A large number of Han refugees from southwestern Shandong, Zhili, Henan, Shanxi and other places came to the western Liaoning Plain through Shanhaiguan, and also crossed the Bohai Bay from Dengzhou to the Liaodong Plain.

At that time, the Qing court had very relaxed control over refugees entering Liaodong. As long as they took the "print ticket" issued by local prefectures and county governments, they could register and file at Shanhaiguan.

After the early immigrants arrived, each household was given twenty-five acres of land, and also sent cattle, farm tools, and food before autumn harvest. In addition, there was no restriction on living, and the situation of mixed living in flags and Han dynasties was very common.

However, after just a few decades, there has been a confusion in the flag fields that do not have to pay taxes and the civilian areas that have to pay taxes, and it has become increasingly serious.

You should know that "not paying grain" was the ultimate dream of all farmers in ancient China. The greatest preferential policy of the Qing Dynasty to the bannermen was not to paying grain taxes. Therefore, the Han people named the newly reclaimed wasteland in the name of the bannermen, or hid it and did not report it, so they evaded taxes.

In addition, because the bannermen are not good at farming, the land they are often insufficient to cultivate, resulting in large-scale abandonment. When the Han people noticed this situation, they signed a long-term rental agreement with them, discussed sharing the share, and farming on their behalf, and naturally no tax was required for this part of the harvest. Especially those banner fields that signed a long-term farming agreement were essentially transferred, and the government could not even collect a penny of tax.

In order to change this situation and resolve the land conflicts caused by the mixed residence of Manchu and Han, in the 18th year of the Kangxi reign, the Qing court conducted a detailed investigation of all arable land and pastures in Shengjing area and implemented the "Flaghan Division". Simply put, the flags and Han people lived separately, and the land was divided into boundaries. All the people who originally lived in mixed residences moved out and formed villages and villages.

Kaoshantun was established under this situation. The Han people here basically came from Yizhou in southern Shandong - that is, Linyi in later generations. Yizhou was densely populated in the Ming and Qing dynasties, with more mountains and few plains, and the people had to go out to flee in the year of disaster. For more than a hundred years, immigrants from Yizhou alone in Shengjing area accounted for almost half of the entire Shandong immigrants.

Late at night, in front of Guandi Temple at the west end of Kaoshantun Village, there were crowds of people. Under the eaves, two lanterns of Goryeo paper made the empty scene in front of the door illuminated the light and darkness. Several guys in Taoist robes were walking back and forth, carrying lanterns to check the people participating in the opening of the hall.

When the dim light shone on the face of a middle-aged man, the young man in a Taoist robe held a lantern and asked, "Zhou Tianzhu, did your friend from Little Heishan Post come?"

"He's here. He's it." The middle-aged man pulled Fu Bao, who was timidly holding a burden, over.

The young Taoist held up and down the lantern and looked at Fu Bao, then said, "Today, you have great blessings, and you can pass on your own merits. Do you understand the rules?"

"The villain understands. It's just that the villain is poor and has nothing to do. My mother asked me to bring a new cotton coat to honor the real person." After Fu Bao said that, he opened the bag in his hand.

When the young Taoist saw the brand new cotton robe exposed inside, he showed a very satisfied expression on his face and said, "Good! When you see the real person later, you will be sincere after kowtowing and becoming a disciple."

In the past, it costs about five or six kilograms of cotton to make a cotton robe in the north, and the fabric costs at least eight hundred cents. If it is made of satin, the price will be as high as two or three taels of silver, which is so expensive that it is so scary.

The cotton coats brought by Fubao were actually given by the North Haijun to poor households in Xiaoheishan Post. Each family can also use one as a quilt cover at night. The style is exactly the same as the military coats in later generations, except that the color is gray.

"Thank you, Master." Fu Bao hurriedly agreed, and waited for the two Taoists to walk away, then pulled Yongtai and whispered: "Why did he call you Zhou Tianzhu?"

Yongtai rolled his eyes and said, "My grandpa, my surname is Zhou! My Emperor Gaozu was under the command of the former Ming Guangning Governor."

The Eight Banners and the Interior Department of the Han Dynasty in Shengjing area basically no longer named the Han surname since the late Kangxi period, but instead gave the Manchu name. Like the famous traitor Li Yongfang, he even gave up the Han surname from his son. However, even so, they were still members of the Li family in the "Eight Banners Manchu Clan Genealogy" compiled during the Yongzheng period.

After the Northern Navy captured Shengjing, the Han army and the Baoyi family were eager to give the members of the family a name and restore the Han surname. However, these families and residences were already listed in the Eight Banners, and no matter how they changed, they could not erase that dark history.

Fu Bao turned his eyes and bowed, "Oh! So that's it. Then Brother Zhou will take more care of him in the future."

Yongtai said with a gloomy face: "I kowtowed tonight, and I will be my fellow disciples in the future. I will postpone the accounts. How about you pay half of them at the end of the year?"

"Brother Zhou is so generous, I am very grateful. If you have any questions in the future, just give me instructions and do my best." Fu Bao said good things, but he sneered in his heart. You bastard still want money? Wait for the North Hai Jun gun!

At the same time, on the south side of a hill five miles south of Kaoshantun, the Northern Navy, which participated in the operation, had gathered and stood on standby.

The barren mountains are silent, the night is deep, and a waning moon hangs in the air. More than two hundred people and more than two hundred war horses gather together are particularly quiet. Apart from the branches and dead grass rustling in the cold wind, only the sound of war horses chewing beans and the occasional response of the commandments.

The letter written by Shen Guisheng was very effective. The battalion commander of Guangning City received the letter at 2 pm, and at 3 pm, he sent a team of two companies to Xiaoheishan Post, and also sent his own deputy to lead the team.

This chapter is not over, please click on the next page to continue reading! In order to avoid alarming the enemy, the troops did not enter Xiaoheishan Post. Instead, they met with a squad sent by Sun Yuan halfway, got off the post road and headed west. At dusk, they arrived at the east side of Yiwulu Mountain to hide and standby.

On the open space, a temporary squad used a field tent to shoot a soft beam of light out through the gaps in the door curtain, dispersing the darkness. In the tent, the deputy battalion commander of the team pointed to the map and issued an action order to the officers after receiving the information sent by the scouts in front.

"Second Company, you detour from here to the east, block the east and north directions of the village, and control the intersections entering and leaving the village, and no one can be let go. Third Company, you will surround from the west and south sides, and you must block the intersections entering the mountain, and you must never let those guys escape into Yiwulu Mountain. You will arrive at the designated location to complete the deployment and report to me immediately. When the signal flare rises, you will immediately shrink the encirclement."

Two company commanders stood attentively and saluted: "Yes!"

The deputy battalion commander looked at the watch on his wrist and said, "It's 8:07 now, and 8:20! You don't have much time left, so go and prepare!"

After the two company commanders left, the deputy battalion commander looked at the middle-aged officer in another tent and said in a kind tone: "Old Zhang, Xiao Shen's letter to the battalion department said that you are from a family and have traveled through the world. You are so angry about these evil ways. When we come in a short time, it will depend on you to arrest the gossip coach."

Old Zhang still had the same faint expression, raised his hand and saluted: "Yes!"

After Guisheng finished writing the letter at noon, he did not stop at Xiaoheishan Post. After having lunch, he asked Sun Yuan to send a subordinate to accompany him and Yonghe to Shengjing in a hurry. However, before leaving, he kept Lao Zhang and asked him to assist in completing the arrest mission.

Lao Zhang's big name is Zhang Xiude. He has only been in the Intelligence Bureau for half a year, and he has only been in Beihai Town for more than a year. Before that, he worked as a martial artist in a bannerman and noble family in the capital for several years.

That's right, he was the guardian who killed the old man from Shu Mulu's family with a "black tiger heart" more than a year ago, and then left a letter to escape over the wall.

The reason why Guisheng left Zhang Xiude was because the latter was quite familiar with the Bagua Sect and even was one of them.

Twenty years ago, Wang Lun, the leader of the Zhengua Sect and the leader of the Qingshui Sect, led tens of thousands of scholars to conquer Linqing. At that time, Zhang Xiude, who lived in the old city of Linqing, had no time to run away because his father was seriously ill and he was unable to escape. Because he was worried that his family would be harmed, he had no choice but to join Wang Lun's team and kowtowed to become a disciple under the pressure of swords and guns. He also learned many of the internal rules of the Bagua Sect.

However, just over a dozen days later, the Qing court mobilized tens of thousands of Qing troops, Mi Ji, in Linqing, surrounded the old city like an iron barrel. Then there was a fierce offensive and defensive battle, and Zhang Xiude's parents, wife and children died under the sword of the Qing army.

On the day when the rebellion ended on September 28, the Zhang family's house had turned into ruins in the fire. The injured Zhang Xiude quietly sneaked into the canal at night with his good water quality, followed the floating corpses covered with the river and escaped by chance.

With such a painful experience, Zhang Xiude hated both the Qing army and the gossip that harmed people. Therefore, Guisheng agreed without hesitation just as soon as he opened his mouth.

Not long after the North Navy was dispatched, the ceremony of opening the altar in Guandi Temple in Kaeshantun on the other hand was about to begin.

In the main hall of Guandi Temple where the door was closed, a long-bearded Taoist in his fifties was sitting on the cushion with his eyes closed. The sandalwood swayed on the altar, and the jumping candlelight made the clay sculpture on the altar look faintly, and the traces left by tattoos on both sides of his cheeks were faintly visible.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door twice outside the hall, and then a "creak" sound came in. A middle-aged man in a Taoist robe walked in. The man was short and covered in oily and sweaty. There were also marks of tattoos on both sides of his cheeks. Although he had washed with medicine, there were still ink marks.

The man walked behind the old Taoist, bowed and said, "Dad, the time is coming soon, how can you move on?"

"I have told you several times. I have to call this kind of occasion a real person! Why can't I change it?"

"Yes, real people. Everyone has come almost the same. It's time for you to show up." After saying that, the middle-aged man curled his lips, thinking that his father really regarded himself as a god.

The old Taoist seemed to have eyes on his back and said in a tone of regret: "It's true, young is the boss. In the future, the foundation of the Liu family will be passed on by young, so you should pay attention to your words and deeds. What are we trying to do in such a cold weather? It's not just to save the family business for our family. How can we hurry up and let them wait a little longer."

The man who is called "established" can say it, no one knows that you have planned to pass the leader to my third brother. Although he was dissatisfied, he said, "Dad, what you taught me is that my son will pay attention in the future."

The old Taoist slowly stood up with the help of his son, tidied up his Taoist robe, and asked, "How many have you been here today?"

The man said: "Fifty-seven people."

The old Taoist frowned, turned around and looked at his son, and asked, "Why are there so many more?"

The man said, "Don't worry, we have all verified it. In addition to the village, there are a few others brought by Zhou Tianzhu, and he has all been guaranteed."

After hearing this, the old Taoist turned around in the small main hall with his hands behind his back for a few times. The man felt a little dizzy, so he heard him say, "Tell everyone that I have passed the merit today and leave after noon tomorrow."

The man said in surprise: "Let's go? Dad, there are several villages in the east, but they all agreed that we can charge a lot of money if we don't go!"

The old Taoist shook his head and said, "No, this Kushantun is too close to Xiaoheishan Post, and I always feel uneasy."

The man showed an indifferent expression and said, "But there are only more than 30 Beihai soldiers, so my father is too cautious, right? There were 200 armored soldiers there before, so we don't take them seriously."

The old Taoist glared suddenly and said, "What do you know about Tartars? There are many soldiers and horses, but you can control the Beihai soldiers!"

This chapter is not over, please click on the next page to continue reading! Seeing that I was angry, the man had to agree: "What Dad said is."

The old Taoist thought about it and felt that he should explain it to his son clearly. Then he sighed and said, "It is established. Now the outside of the pass is not as good as before. Don't look at the Beihai soldiers under the banner of the Ming Dynasty, but the things we do cannot tolerate will be done by any dynasty or generation. Be careful to sail the ten thousand-year-old ship!"

The man said embarrassedly: "Then where will we go next?"

The old Taoist stroked the goatee and said, "I will definitely not be able to go back to Shan County, so I will go to Jinxiang first. The money I have collected from the merits these days is almost 2,000 taels. You will leave early tomorrow morning and go to Gaoqiao Factory to find a ship back to northern Jiangsu. This year, the weather is so cold that it is so cold that it is life-threatening. It has been twenty years, and I am so alone!"

"North Su? The Hou family is in Jinxiang."

"Bastard! Can we take a boat back to Shandong directly? Now Jiaodong is occupied by the Beihai soldiers! Go to northern Jiangsu first, and then go to Jining through the canal."

"oh oh!"

When the old Taoist saw his eldest son understand what he meant, he shook his head helplessly, thinking that when he was a child, this child looked very smart, but why did he become more and more stupid when he grows up? It seems that he will be counting on the third brother to help the Liu clan in the future.

It has been twenty years since his father and son were exiled outside the pass, and none of his three sons would be worry-free. If he hadn't thought about accumulating more money before leaving, he wouldn't have wanted to stay outside the pass!

This old Taoist is no other person, Liu Tingxian, the "head of the Zhongtian Sect" of the Bagua Sect, and the middle-aged man beside him is his eldest son Liu Jian.

It is said that the demise of the Liu family in Shanxian County in the 51st year of Qianlong did not completely cut off the family. In the 38th year of Qianlong, Liu Tingxian, a brother of the clan, was implicated by his clan, and the four men of Liu Tingxian, who were the side branches, were exiled to Fushun and were entitled to poor people wearing armor as slaves.

In the 45th year of Qianlong's reign, Hou Pu, the head of the Hou family in Jinxiang who was lucky enough to miss the net, saw that the news had passed. Thinking that after Liu Shengguo's death, no one was in charge of the Gossip Sect, he decided to win the sect, so he sent his subordinate Xu Yunqing to Shengjing to find Liu Tingxian and his son.

Some people may ask, why do you have to find someone from the Liu family? Can the Hou family start a sect and establish a sect?

This really doesn't work. You should know that the ancients paid great attention to their status when doing things. As long as the Liu family was not dead, the head of the sect could only belong to their family. One of the fundamentals of the Bagua Sect's establishment is that the family was hereditary, and the Hou family was hereditary leader of the Zhengua Sect since the early years of Kangxi. If they want to control the various Bagua Sects in the Guandi, they must pull the tiger's skin and pull the banner.

Liu Tingxian and his son lived a miserable life at that time. They didn't even have enough food every day, but they lived in thatched huts in winter and screamed in the cold. When they saw Hou Pu's letter, they took the other party's filial piety of 1,000 taels of silver, and were full of joy, he immediately agreed to take over as the leader.

However, Liu Tingxian is a branch of the Liu family. Except for having this treasure scroll in hand, he can't do anything other than the rules in the teachings. So he asked his third son Liu Chenglin to take Xu Yunqing as his teacher and learn the principles of the teachings, the mantras and techniques and prayer rituals. Once his son learned it, he would naturally be able to be a father.

So from this year on, although Liu Tingxian was outside the pass, he became the nominal "Zhongtian Sect leader" of the Bagua Sect. In fact, the Hou family was in charge of the internal affairs of the pass. After the Hou family, they would send people to the pass with money to offer filial piety to the leader every two or three years.

The Northern Navy occupied Jilin and the troops headed straight to the willow wall. Everyone in the jurisdiction of General Shengjing was in panic. The army was approaching, and although the end of the bannermen was approaching, it was not much better for the Han people.

After the Qing government spared no effort to promote over the years, Beihai Town has long become a representative of all evil in the hearts of the people in Shengjing area. Zhao Xin and his men are a group of wilderness demons with fangs. Wherever they pass, they rape and loot, and survivors will be captured and become slaves.

The Han people wanted to escape, but where could they escape?

It has been more than a hundred years since I arrived outside the pass, and it has long become their hometown, houses, land, and even family cemeteries. Even if I hide in the mountains with my livestock, I can't come out for the rest of my life. Especially in the cold winter, the elderly and children can't stand it.

From ancient times to the present, once people have many confusions and even despairs about their future destiny, they feel deeply helpless and can only pray for the protection of the gods.

It was precisely this time that the Liu family and the son of the Liu family seized this opportunity and took advantage of the Qing Dynasty's neglect of supervision of exiles and fled from Fushun to western Liaoning. Since the beginning of this spring, they have been wandering in Hanmin villages in various places, secretly preaching and developing disciples.

Liu Tingxian talked to his eldest son for a long time and felt that the time was almost over, so he ordered his son to start the ceremony and bring the people into the hall one by one.

In the open space outside the temple gate, more than fifty people waiting for the altar to teach their merits were already impatient, whispering and talking one after another. Because of the concern, Fu Bao kept tiptoing and looking left and right. In fact, what he was thinking was that after a while, the Beihai soldiers came, would he be lying on the ground with his head in his arms, or would it be safer to hide in a corner.

Suddenly, everyone in the empty field heard a "pop" sound of cloud boards, and then a man in a Taoist robe shouted: "Silent! Master Holy Emperor has been promoted to the seat!"

The noise gradually subsided, and everyone, including Fu Bao, raised their ears and listened carefully. The Taoist said loudly: "Now I read Baoren's name, and if I hear it, I will bring the people I recommend to the palace in turn!"
