Forty-fourth Night: The Woman Selling Silver Bracelets 【Tomb Exchange】

On the 15th, a friend of mine invited me to his house for delicious food. His house was in the suburbs. When I came back from his house, it was already past seven o'clock in the evening.

There is a small market in the suburbs of the city. There is actually someone selling things at around 8 o'clock. I went in and took a walk and just wanted to have enough food and eat to digest it.

The night market here is similar to the night market in the city. Most of them are small things, clothes, pants, or mobile phone cables, headphones, etc. I walked around and felt a little tired. I should hurry up and go back at 8:30. Otherwise, it would be a problem to go home. Should I stay in this place where I don’t have to stay in the village and the store? I feel scared when I think about it. I can’t go back to my classmate, which is still an hour away.

I quickly walked towards the station. As I walked, I met a bunch of people surrounding me and didn't know what to do. I went up to the front to see what happened.

It turned out that a woman was kneeling on the ground and put a pair of silver bracelets in front of her. The woman looked like a rural woman. She was dressed in a simple manner and looked not very good. But I didn’t know why she was kneeling. I looked carefully at a paper shell in front, and there was a row of words written on it with a marker: I am deaf and mute, my family is poor, and my husband is sick. I sold my mother-in-law’s bracelet when she was alive. I hope a good person will buy it for 50 yuan.

It turned out that she was a deaf and mute person, and her family was so pitiful, but to say that, I don’t know if it was a liar. Some liars are, I hate liars the most. Once on Taiyuan Street, a poor child who looked like a student knelt on the ground, and a sign in front said that he had traveled here and went home without money, so he asked for ten yuan for a large customer. I thought it would be ten yuan. It was not easy for a child to kneel here, so I took ten yuan and put it in his hand. He nodded at me. I was quite happy and thought I had done something good.

Later, when I returned home from Taiyuan Street and passed Zhonghua Road, I found this child again. Good guy, not only holding the same sign, but also changing ten yuan to twenty yuan, and also raising the price. But I didn't get angry either. I thought, forget it, buy a lesson, and never give the beggars on the roadside or a penny for money again.

Speaking of fake begging, another time, when I was having dinner with my classmates at McDonald's, a "deaf and mute" came to ask for money, but I didn't give it to me. I said I had no money, and he pretended not to understand. Later, he was driven out by the clerk. The clerk told us that he could hear it. He was obviously facing his back to us and was about to leave. But he turned around and stared at the clerk fiercely. My classmate didn't spoil him and shouted, "Can you listen!" Then the "deaf and mute" ran away quickly.

However, I have also heard that the beggar who really asks for money has not had much experience of getting much money. It is difficult to identify the true or falsehood. I looked at the woman in front of me and did not feel much sympathy, but I still developed a lot of curiosity about the pair of silver bracelets.

I don't know if the material of the silver bracelet is true or false. I was so good at it, so I squatted on the ground and tested it. Good guy, I can't tell that this one is not silver, and it seems to be pure silver, not silver plated. The two combined are more than 40 grams, and I don't understand why they are sold so cheaply.

Since the silver bracelet is not fake, maybe the deaf and mute family conditions are not fake. When I think of this, I thought about it and thought that if I sold this bracelet, would it be much more than I bought it? Why not buy it?
