Chapter 56 Transition
?A few hundred years later. As Xiao Ge said, the worm did survive on me for hundreds of years before being slowly consumed by Namo to death with medicine. In his words, "A low-level worm has lived for hundreds of years, which is simply incredible." So Namo disappeared for a year or two for such a trivial matter that seemed to me that nothing was related to itchyness, and threatened: "I want to go and find the wizard who gave you a guru. The witchcraft is so clever, I believe that people should not be bad."
?My face must have been quite dark at that time, and I asked in a difficult understanding: "What is the relationship between Taoism and character...?"
?I remember that at that time, Namo just waved his hand and solemnly asked Xiao Ge to boil five bowls of medicine every day, not a single bowl could be lost. So he turned around and left, with a solemn expression that I almost thought he was going to die and might not go back. Fortunately, he came back after only about a year. On the day he came back, he was a little silent. Although he still joked with me as usual, the distance between his eyebrows was half a minute narrower than before. I was silent for a while, probably I could guess that the ending of this meeting might not be very wonderful, and I don’t know what to say.
?But if I say something too sensational to comfort me, let alone Namo, I am afraid I will spit out the white porridge from the morning first; after hesitating for a moment, I complained half-truely: "Namo, if I drink five bowls of medicine a day, will I kill myself while consuming the insects?"
?The other party was probably listening to us absent-mindedly before. At this moment, he suddenly heard me ask, and he didn't react. He was stunned for a moment before he replied unhappily: "No, at most, your body will slowly become weaker like the Gu worm, but Gu worm will die earlier than you. After it dies, I will give you more supplements and will make it up sooner or later." I was a little uncomfortable with his depressed attitude, but I racked my brains and didn't know what to say, so I could only return to silence in the end.
? Fortunately, a few days later, Namo, who was once unrestrained and frank, came back again. Sometimes he leaned against the small window alone and sang softly; sometimes he gathered with Sister Gan Yu and Xiao Ge, and performed the orders of sticks and drinks. Of course, because he was not in good health recently, he was ordered to ban alcohol by the doctor Namo. Whenever I was at this time, I could only stand aside and stare at him, and he was really "silent in his eyes, but only tears were flowing."
? Or simply hide in the Sutra Library without seeing or being upset and read more books.
?I probably returned to my previous life, reading books every day, practicing in a small pavilion, and when eating, Brother Shu and his team tested the learning results for the day. Only by occasionally getting their permission can I go down the mountain to have fun, or sing in the temple and drink and have fun. What made me more happy was that Yu Ge also meditated with me, chanting scriptures, meditating, and practicing.
?The days passed day by day, and the calmness made me feel a little panicked.
?Until one day, Brother Shu finally "approved" us to go down the mountain to play, and it lasted for half a month. We were very happy that day. I vaguely remember that the next night, Xiao Ge and I were hanging out in the abbot's courtyard in Namo, and we didn't fall asleep. We were thinking all night about where to go to play in the next ten days - we were so lively like an ignorant child. Even though we didn't sleep all night, we were still energetic the next morning.
?After all, Xiao Ge and I have been in the temple for nearly a hundred years. Now when we hear that we can go out to play, we are like birds who are eager to break free from the cage. When that day finally comes, we will fly into the sky in a hurry. On the other hand, Nan Wu woke up and was sleepy, and he couldn't even tell the difference between the north and the south when he got up. He was obviously going to the dining hall in the north, but he turned to the south in a drowsy way. If I hadn't been holding him up quickly, and with his eyes standing and sleeping like this, he would have walked out of the mountain gate without any sense of consciousness.
?Later, while eating, Namo finally woke up a little, and I laughed at him at the dinner table: "Why are you like the old man Hao Cangyan? When you wake up early in the morning, you look dull and angry?"
?The answer to me was the other party's eyes covered with haze and a low voice: "What do you think? Who was talking to each other last night? It was so quarrel that it was hard to part with it, just to argue where to go to the next ten days?"
?Xiao Ge and I looked at each other, pretending to be guilty and said, "It's us."
?Nan Wu sneered, stared at us coldly for a moment, then pointed at us speechlessly, and said, "I'm too lazy to talk about you. I couldn't fall asleep last night, okay... Have you discussed the place to go?" Hearing this, Xiao Ge and I looked at each other in a slight terrifying manner, and then looked at Nan Wu carefully: "Didn't you hear the conversation between us last night?"
?The other party curled his lips: "I'm so vague, who can hear what you said?"
?I smiled, and my expression was unconcealed with pride: "We plan to go to the Jiangnan area." A hint of surprise flashed in Nan Wu's eyes. After a moment of verification, he finally picked up his eyebrows and asked: "The mortal realm? Well, the mortal realm is not a bad thing, but... this mountain is northwest, and the Jiangnan area is not a very southern area, but it is still too far apart, and it takes more than ten days to go back and forth. What do you want?"
?I turned my head, so I was so stubborn that I didn't want to listen to him. Nan Wu stopped persuading him, but looked straight at Brother Shu. After a long time, he heard Brother Shu's clear voice sound: "Why do you have to go to Jiangnan?" I didn't want to pay attention, but just lowered my head and ate the carrots and vegetables silently, very devoted.
?Brother Shu refused to bypass this question. Seeing that I was silent for a long time, he asked again: "There is always a reason for everything. Why do you have to go to Jiangnan?" His tone was still as calm as the wind, as snow, as all things in the world. It seemed that even if the universe was destroyed, he could still remain unmoved, practice Zen alone to enlighten the world, and be out of the world; without realizing it, he was faintly oppressive.
?I stumbled for a moment, and finally raised my head calmly and replied loudly: "I have been in the temple for a hundred years, and I have never had a rest for a moment. I just want to go farther place... Play." Brother Shu paused with the action of picking up food in his hand. After a moment, he suddenly burst into a low voice. The laughter was clear and cold, and the curve on his face became more and more obvious. But when he looked up, his smile clearly did not reach his eyes, but he still chuckled with his throat - I had never seen Shu like this before.
?After the laughter, Brother Shu still had a smile on his face and said to me: "You are right. I'm too anxious. A hundred years are just a moment for us. But you are just a young boy with a stinky breast. If you haven't embarked on the path of immortal cultivation, you'll probably have entered the cycle of reincarnation... It's just that, what am I going to do with you?" After saying that, he suddenly smiled from a sincere heart. The man had a black background, a golden pattern, and a green bamboo and white jade, proudly in the world. At this time, his eyebrows and eyes were curved and his mouth was slightly raised. To say a very disrespectful word - this guy is very handsome!
?According to surprise, I looked dazed for a while. When I realized that, Brother Shu had already put away the smile on his face and became as frosty as ice again, with the expression of "let him be punished by heaven and earth, and he was completely indifferent."
His eyebrows and eyes were indifferent, his tone was flat, and he could not hear any ups and downs: "You just go out, the deadline is uncertain, but I hope you don't play wild anymore, remember to go home! After all, I can protect this mountain, and once I leave the mountain, I will not interfere again."
I didn't react a little. Brother Shu agreed so easily, but he was stunned for a moment and couldn't help but thank him happily, gently put down the bowls and chopsticks. After Xiao Ge, Namo and the others finished eating, they pulled them out of the mountain gate with fire.
The Buddha said: There are eight sufferings in life: birth, old age, illness, death, love and separation, long-lasting resentment, seeking and not being able to let go. If the sun and the moon change, the stars change, and time returns to the past, I would like to be a human being and experience the eight sufferings.
