Chapter 53 Asking for help (second update)(1/2)

 Eight o'clock in the evening.

Near Sofia's home.

A black Dodge parked slowly on the side of the road.

Luke and David got out of the car.

David sighed, "It's been a long time since I worked on a case with you at night."

Luke joked, "How was it? Do you think it's romantic?"

"go to hell."

Luke didn't want to work overtime, but Caroline had already provided clues. If she didn't investigate in time, and when Caroline calmed down, she might collude with Sophia again, "Same as last time, I knock on the door, you stay back."

David observed for a moment, "There are no lights on in the house, so Sophia is probably not at home."

"Maybe she doesn't want others to know she's home." Luke walked up and knocked, "Dong dong..."

no respond.

Luke knocked a few more times, but still no response.

"I guessed it right, let's go, sit in the car and wait." David turned around and returned to the car.

In the past, it was normal to sit in the car at night and keep an eye on him, all night long. This was Luke's first time since arriving in Los Angeles.

"I feel so sleepy, I feel like I'm sleeping." Luke yawned and leaned back on his seat.

"Jingle Bell……"

The cell phone rang.

Luke took out his cell phone and saw a call from Daisy.

Luke got out of the car and said, "Hello."

"Luke, are you off work?"

"No, still working overtime."

"Me too."

Luke asked, "What time are you going to get off work?"

"About ten o'clock. What about you?"

"I'm still not sure, is something wrong?"

"Yeah, I have something to do. I'll pick you up when you get off work."

Luke smiled and said, "You have successfully aroused my curiosity. What's the matter?"

"Let's talk when we meet."

"OK." Luke hung up the phone and returned to the car.

There is a big temperature difference in Los Angeles, so it’s really a bit chilly standing outside.

David smiled and said, "Your new girlfriend?"

"All your detective reasoning skills have been used on me."

"Hey, don't underestimate the seniors of the Robbery and Murder Department. If I wasn't too lazy to use my brain, why would I have anything to do with you?"

"Ding ding ding..." David's cell phone rang.

"Raymond, how is the situation over there..."

"I see."

After hanging up the phone, David said, "Let's go, Raymond and the others have found Sophia."

Luke was a little surprised, "Where?"

"The Brooke family."

Luke smiled and said, "It seems that the relationship between these unrelated brothers and sisters is getting along very well."

Half an hour later, Luke and others returned to the police station.

Sophia and Brooke were also taken to the police station for separate interrogation.

Luke and David interrogate Sophia.

Raymond and Jenny interrogate Brooke.

Sophia was brought into the interrogation room with a nervous look on her face, "Why did you arrest me? What crime did I commit?"

"Sofia, when we take you back to the police station, we naturally have enough evidence. Don't take chances and explain the situation honestly and clearly."

"What do you want me to say?"

"It seems you don't want to commute your sentence for meritorious service."

Sophia said confidently, "I am not guilty at all, what should I explain?"

Luke went straight to the point, "Why did you stop Brooke from calling the police?"

Sophia's mouth twitched slightly and she shook her head, "I don't know what you mean?"

Luke continued, "I have made it clear enough that there is no airtight wall in the world. Do you still want to continue to carry it?"

Sophia lowered her head, her eyes flashed, and her expression was a little tangled.

Luke continued to press, "Why did you attack Laun? Do you want to use this method to gain his favor and obtain more inheritance?"

"No! The fact that my father was attacked has nothing to do with me."

"Then why did you stop Brooke from calling the police? Even if you didn't say it, Brooke would have said it. If you didn't admit it, the responsibility would be on Brooke."

Sophia bit her lip and took a deep breath, "Yes, I admit that I was the one who stopped Brooke from calling the police."

"Why?"

"I returned to my father's house and saw him falling to the ground. I pinched him. He woke up briefly. He asked me not to call the police. I did it according to his request. This was his wish.

."

"Why didn't Lawn let the police call the police?"

"I have no idea."

"How do you prove that what you say is true instead of shirking responsibility?"

Sophia was silent for a moment, "He is my father."

"How did you convince Brooke to help you?"

"I followed the ambulance to the hospital, and Brooke was responsible for treating my father. After he came out of the emergency room, he told me that my father might have been attacked and wanted to call the police.

I stopped him and told him that my father did not want to call the police."

Luke asked, "Why should he trust you for such a big matter? And he is willing to share the responsibility with you. This kind of thing may very well ruin a doctor's future."

"He was unwilling at first, so I begged him to agree. Although it was very difficult for him...but our relationship is very close, so he still agreed."

"Why do you think Lawn was attacked?"

"I have no idea."

"Then why did you agree not to call the police so easily?"

"I love him and I don't want to go against his wishes."

Luke took out a picture of Tim and asked, "Do you know him?"

"do not know."

Luke took out Tony's photo again, "Where is he?"

"never seen it."

After the interrogation, Luke and others left the interrogation room and happened to meet Raymond and Jenny in the corridor.

Both sides checked their confessions and found they were basically consistent.

From a credibility perspective, Sophia's excuse was poorly made.

But there is no doubt that she is guilty, and without concrete evidence, the police can only choose to believe her.

If what Sophia said is true, it was indeed Lawn who did not agree to call the police.

Then Lawn's behavior is very suspicious and intriguing.

At ten o'clock in the evening, Luke finally got off work.

A red convertible was parked below the detective building.

Luke sat in the passenger seat and said with a smile, "You know what? I have always had a dream to have a beautiful woman driving a luxury car pick me up from get off work, and it finally came true today."

Daisy started the car and asked, "Then how are you going to repay me?"
