Chapter 24 The Sorting Hat
A group of nervous little wizards followed Professor McGonagall into the hall one by one.
This is a magical and magnificent place. The students from other classes of the college have sat around four long tables, and thousands of candles floating in the air above the table illuminate the restaurant. The four tables are shining golden plates and high-footed wine glasses. There is another long table on the table at the top of the restaurant, which is the seat for teachers.
The most surprising and magical thing was the roof, and the velvet black ceiling was the twinkling starlight, which looked exactly like the quiet night sky.
Professor McGonagall gently placed a four-legged stool in front of the first-year freshmen, and then placed a pointed wizard hat on the stool. The hat was patched and worn out, and it was very dirty. Suddenly the hat started singing a song, and all the freshmen were stunned.
Mrs. Maggar held a roll of parchment and clicked a name, and the corresponding children sat on the stool of the four corners, and their hats were shouting out quickly or slowly. Applause burst out from time to time on the long table in the auditorium.
Ron was assigned to Gryffindor, and his brothers applauded wildly with joy. Flegg was also assigned to Gryffindor, which did not surprise Allen. Flegg may not be smart enough, but he never lacked courage and justice. Malfoy was assigned to Slytherin and looked particularly satisfied. Until - Harry!
The auditorium was whispering everywhere, and people were crowded, wanting to see Harry Potter, who had defeated the mysterious man in the legend. Harry looked extremely nervous. He sat on the stool with his eyes closed, his hands tightly pressed against the edge of the stool, and his mouth kept muttering. He stayed on the stool for a long time before the hat shouted - Gryffindor's cheers on the long table of Gryffindor resounded throughout the auditorium. They all scrambled to shake hands with Harry and took pride in it.
"Alan Harris." It was actually Alan's turn to wait until the end. This was not sorted by size, right! Alan walked towards the four-corner stool calmly, and he was confident that he could deceive this hat who claimed to be thoughtful.
When the dirty hat was buckled against Allen's soft blonde hair, Allen held the hat a little uncomfortable, trying to prevent the hat from touching the skin on his face.
"Well, very talented. I feel the magic that is bursting out. This is very rare in a young wizard of your age. You are very calm, not impetuous, neither anxious to know the academy you are about to be assigned to, nor anxious to express your opinions. You are not eager to control power. Which academy should I assign you to?"
"Hey, you are keen on the accumulation of knowledge, the pursuit of wisdom, and the desire to explore the unknown world and wander in the ocean of knowledge. Then you should be assigned-"
"Ravenclaw!"
There was a polite applause in the auditorium. When Allen walked towards the long table of his college, he felt relieved and successfully deceived the branch hat.
Alan looked at the long table next door, and Harry and Fulleg looked at him with regret. Alan felt a little moved. People were always sad for separation, but they would definitely be particularly happy when they reunited. If they stayed together for a long time, they would easily stumbling and conflicting. This is how distance creates beauty.
"Do you know Harry Potter over there?" A lazy voice suddenly sounded beside him.
"Yes." Alan did not explain too much, and retracted his eyes that looked at Harry and the others, and turned around to look over.
The owner of the voice was a boy with brown hair, fair skin, and a few naughty freckles on both sides of his cheeks. He had thick dark circles under his eyes.
"Did you not sleep well last night?" It was indeed strange that such thick dark circles appeared on the energetic young man. Alan unconsciously asked a question.
"Yes, although I know I am a wizard, I am more interested in Muggle science. I forgot to rest last night when I studied nuclear reactors." The teenager said lazily.
"Nuclear reactor?" Allen couldn't believe his ears. An 11-year-old wizard talked about studying nuclear reactors!
"Yes, in fact, I have successfully built a nuclear reactor in the classroom." The boy's brown eyes were full of fatigue and sincere.
"My name is Alan Harris, I'm very happy to know you." Allen felt it was necessary to solemnly get to know this genius boy, who was even more academic than him!
"My name is Edward, Edward Fox." Edward seemed to need a bed very much, his voice was erratic.
At this time, Albus Dumbledore stood up. He looked at the students with a smile and stretched his arms to them. Nothing seemed to make him happier than seeing the students gathered together. "Welcome!" he said, "Welcome to Hogwarts to start the new school year! Before the banquet begins, I want to say a few words. That is: idiot! Crying nose! Scratch! Twist! "Thank you everyone!" He sat down again. Everyone applauded and cheered. Unlike other colleges' whispers, the students of Lavenclaw seemed to understand it. Allen couldn't help but sigh that although there were few people who could enter this college, they seemed to have their own strengths and broad knowledge!
At this time, Allen noticed that Edward suddenly had his eyes widened. It turned out that the long table in front of them was filled with delicious food. Roasted beef, grilled chicken, pork chop, lamb chop, sausage, steak, boiled potatoes, roasted potatoes, potato chips, Yorkshire pudding, pea seedlings, carrots, gravy, tomato sauce, and for some strange reasons, there were mint hard candies.
A large amount of delicacies suddenly made the atmosphere liven up, and everyone was drinking and very happy. Perhaps the relaxation after tension would increase appetite, and Allen ate far more than usual. Finally, the pudding disappeared, and Professor Dumbledore stood up again. The restaurant also returned to quiet. "Oh, now everyone is full and drinks, I want to say a few more words to everyone. At the beginning of the semester, I want to put some precautions to everyone..."
Finally, everyone finished singing the school songs and lined up to leave the auditorium one by one.
I hope that Ravenclaw's dormitory will be very comfortable, and Allen, who has enough food and drink, is looking forward to it.
