Chapter 9 The Thirteenth and Eleventh

Matthew Wickfell always felt like he was going crazy.

Because of the strange book with unknown origin.

But this was not the case. Until three days later, he was still alive and well, in Room 13 of the Broken Cauldron Bar.

And that book has been lying quietly in the abandoned toad glass box; Matthew has not taken the initiative to contact it; it has not had any impact on Matthew's life.

So much so that he thought that when he left the Burnt Cauldron Bar, he could say goodbye to the book.

But on the evening of August 31, the book disappeared from Matthew's sight again and "leaved" from the glass box; later, when he was sorting out his luggage for Hogwarts, he found that the book was lying quietly at the bottom of the suitcase.

It's just moved a seat.

During the past few days, there were several times, Matthew almost couldn't control his inner temptation and tried to open the book.

Look at what is written on it, find out what secrets it hides...

But in the end, rationality took the upper hand.

Matthew's intuition has been warning him that the consequences of such mysterious magical items will be unimaginable when they are rashly touched without understanding.

The miserable death of the black-cored toad had already left a deep impression on him.

Even though he saw the book lying quietly at the bottom of the suitcase, Matthew still locked the suitcase calmly as if nothing had happened.

Then he lay down on the bed and fell asleep peacefully.

...

The next morning, Matthew woke up at six o'clock.

He was a little curious, nervous, excited, and a little scared about the Hogwarts that he was about to go to.

After getting up from the bed, he put on a black wizard robe he bought in Diagon Alley a few days ago. Although the weather was still very hot, this robe that seemed a bit thick was quite comfortable to wear... Maybe there would be some cool magic.

Then he found the letter that Penelo Crivat gave him before leaving.

In the envelope, there is only one train ticket... Let Matthew take the Hogwarts Express at 11:00 a.m. on Kings Cross Station 9? platform.

There are no tips or explanations other than that.

However, Miss Crivat told him before leaving that Tom, the owner of the Burnt Cauldron Bar, would send him over, so Matthew was just waiting quietly in the room.

Until 10:30 am, the door of Room 13 was gently knocked.

Walking over and opening the door, Tom, the bar owner who was thin and shriveled and had lost all teeth, was outside, holding a small flower pot with shiny green powder in his hand.

"Have been waiting for a long time, Mr. Wakefield!" he said with a smile.

"Come in quickly, sir!" Matthew said quickly.

Tom walked into Room 13, then slowly walked to the fireplace. He snapped his fingers, and the dark green flame in the fireplace rose instantly.

“We will go to Kings Cross Station through Floom, Mr. Wakefield,” Tom explained: “It’s just to get in from one fireplace and come out from another… It’s very simple and very easy… You just need to make the words ‘King Cross Station’ clear… Just need to speak correctly and you won’t go to the wrong fireplace…”

The process of how he will use Flolu powder is described in detail, and Matthew is also listening quietly.

After repeatedly confirming that Matthew had fully understood all the steps, Tom placed the flower pot on the mantel.

"I'll give you a demonstration first and help you take your luggage first." He grabbed Matthew's suitcase.

Then Tom picked up a pinch of shiny powder from the pot, walked to the stove, and threw the powder into the flame.

With a shout, the fire turned green and rose higher than the old man. He walked straight into the fire, shouted "King's Cross Station" and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Matthew took a deep breath, reached out to take a small pinch of Floor powder, and walked to the edge of the flame:

"King's Cross Station!"

He seemed to have been sucked into a huge washing machine, his whole body was rotating rapidly, the whistling sound in his ears was deafening, and the green flame in front of him was dazzling...

Looking around, you can see a series of fireplace doors flashing blurredly, and you can even vaguely glimpse the room outside the fireplace...

After a while, Matthew suddenly realized that he had arrived at his destination.

He is now in a very wide space... The walls on all sides are decorated with dark black and shiny wooden boards, and many fireplaces with green flames are embedded in the wooden boards. Every few seconds, with a slight sound, a wizard suddenly emerges from a fireplace on the left. On the right, one or two people are waiting in line in front of each fireplace.

"Mr. Wickfire!" Tom handed Matthew's suitcase back to him: "I wish you a happy stay in Hogwarts."

"Thank you, Mr. Tom." Matthew bowed gently and thanked.

The owner of the Broken Cauldron Bar just smiled and then started to line up in front of the fireplace on the right to get out.

...

After walking out of the room with all fireplaces, Kings Cross Station arrived.

A crimson steam locomotive was parked on the platform full of passengers. The sign on the train reads: Hogwarts Express, eleven o'clock.

And the sign on the platform next to it reads: 9? Platform.

The thick smoke from the steam locomotive was filled with the chirping crowd. Various cats were piercing around under the feet, and a few toads could be vaguely seen jumping around. The screams of the owls, mixed with the sound of the crowd talking and the sound of heavy luggage dragging, seemed very harsh.

Matthew squeezed through the crowd. The plot on the platform was quite similar to the situation in his memory.

Just when he was about to get in the car and find a private room-

"Hey hey hey!" Someone behind him seemed to be calling him.

Matthew turned around with some confusion and saw a girl with very thick and messy brown hair, holding a ginger cat in her arms, running towards her.

"Hello?" Matthew frowned, and he didn't seem to know the other person in his memory.

"You are No. 13, right?" the girl asked with some interest.

"No. 13..." It took Matthew a little while to realize that this was his room number at the Burnt Cauldron Bar. He nodded: "Yes, that's right."

"I saw you several times when I was in the Broken Cauldron Bar; I always wanted to say hello to you, but I didn't have a chance these days... By the way, I'm No. 11!"

The girl grinned and showed two very obvious rabbit teeth.
