Chapter 2003 2003 The Hand of God
As the story unfolds, Truman's life is presented to the audience bit by bit.
Truman wanted to go out for a walk, he wanted to leave Paradise Island for a comfortable and boring life, he wanted to go out to see the world outside, but he was still stuck because of the shadow of his childhood. When he was a child, his father took him out for a sail, but it happened to be a storm. His father was buried in the waves. Truman was lucky to be rescued, but this became a shadow of his life. He dared not approach the sea, and Paradise Island was surrounded by the sea, and he did not dare to take a plane because he was worried about an accident, which made Truman dare not challenge him.
Now, Truman's dreams are starting to move again, but his friend Malone and his wife Meryl are pouring cold water on his dreams, thinking that he is too unrealistic, which makes Truman quite depressed.
The next day, Truman went to work normally and continued his daily fixed route, but he met a homeless man on the way, which made Truman stunned. He turned around and looked carefully and found that his father, who had been dead for many years, made Truman's brain fall directly and fall into complete shock.
But before Truman reacted, someone rushed over and took his father away directly. When Truman wanted to chase him, he was constantly blocked by pedestrians. Even though he tried his best to sprint forward, he still watched his father be taken on a bus. He slapped the door of the bus frantically, trying his best to keep up with the pace of the bus. "Stop, stop quickly." His shouting at the top of his lungs did not bring any effect. The last taxi rushed out suddenly, blocking Truman's pace, and could only watch the bus go long.
Truman was left in place, lost in confusion, like a lost child, paced back and forth in place, walked to the left and then to the right, but found that he had no idea where the destination was.
Tom Cruise began to be curious about the subsequent development of the movie because he knew very well how many emergencies would encounter in a 24-hour TV program, just like a live broadcast. Many accidents have occurred in Truman's life one after another, and now Truman's father has appeared again.
Tom knew that the program team would definitely find a suitable reason to cover up the facts, but he was even more curious about how Truman would deal with it? How should Truman deal with it? Because Tom had no way to imagine: if his life was completely a scam, controlled by an invisible hand behind the scenes, what would happen?
Truman went home to ask his mother, wanting to confirm his guess that his father was not dead at all, but his mother thought it was just Truman's fantasy, which made Truman very depressed. After returning home, Truman didn't want to talk to Meryl, but just hid in the basement and secretly watched the photo of him and his father as a child, with nostalgia on his face.
When Meryl came to the basement to look for Truman, Truman quickly put away everything and didn't want his wife to know. Meryl had no concern at all. She just asked a simple question and then began to discuss the insignificant weeder issue. Looking at his wife who was always maintaining an elegant and perfect image, just like a model in a glass cabinet, Truman did not tell his wife about his worries this time.
After Meryl left, Truman sat on the edge of the bed and fell into memories.
He met a girl named Lauren in college. At that time, Meryl boldly pursued Truman, but Truman still fell in love with Lauren at first sight. He found that there was a strong chemical reaction between him and Lauren, but Lauren seemed to be scruples and could not let go. However, in the end, Lauren still agreed to date Truman. However, at the end of the date, Lauren told Truman an amazing fact:
Lauren is actually called Sylvia. She said that Truman's life is all fictional, everything is created with him as the center, and everyone around him is acting, all of this is fake.
Truman was completely shocked and even a little at a loss. Lauren or Sylvia was taken away by a man. He claimed to be Lauren's father, but Lauren kept denying it. The man said that Lauren was actually schizophrenia, which was not the first time. Truman didn't want to believe it, but the information brought by Lauren was too huge and too messy. Truman had no way to digest it at the first time, and finally could only watch the man take Lauren away.
That was the last time Truman saw Lauren, and he was told that Lauren was going to the Fiji Islands to recuperate.
"Why not follow her to Fiji?" Leonardo couldn't help but murmured softly, and some of the audience who were watching the reality show in the movie asked the same question. A waiter in the tavern was obviously a loyal audience. She gave the answer, "His mother was seriously ill and he couldn't bear to leave. He was kind, maybe too kind."
"I can't believe that he married Meryl shortly after Lauren left." Another new audience shook his head and sighed. The bar owner complained to the waitress, "We already have the video of that plot." It means that they should not watch it again and work quickly. Unexpectedly, the new audience asked in a low voice, "Can you lend it to me?"
This made the cinema scene burst into laughter.
Truman sat at the basement table and took out a collage next to him, with various photos of the eyes he tore off from fashion magazines every day. He was trying to piece together the appearance of Lauren in his memory, but it was not an easy task.
Sylvia, who was sitting in front of the TV, saw the happy smile on Truman's lips and burst into tears.
However, Leonardo's inner anger erupted irresistiblely, and he shouted "grass" fiercely, which made the entire cinema commotion, which made Leonardo realize his misogynistic behavior, quickly said "sorry" and sat down again.
Hugo cast a concerned look, and Leonardo shook his head and said he was fine.
Leonardo finally understood where his inner discomfort came from, because the reality show program team claimed to be God in the world of Truman, and they manipulated Truman's life according to their own wishes:
They knew that if a real emotion occurred between the actor who played Truman's wife and Truman, the situation would be out of control, just like Lauren, so they took Lauren away and drove Lauren out of the crew, tricked Truman into saying that Lauren went to Fiji on the other side of the earth, and arranged for Truman's mother to fall seriously ill, prevent Truman from leaving, and then arranged for Meryl to marry Meryl, who did not love Truman at all.
Thinking back to Meryl's indifference to Truman, almost every time she appears, she is like a model showing an advertisement. The indifference and alienation completely regard this marriage as a job, and Truman is trapped on the island of Paradise. There is no love, no family, and no freedom.
No wonder when they heard that Truman secretly asked Lauren when he was working in the company, they immediately used their killer moves to face his fear of the sea again, in order to tie Truman to this small island!
This made Leonardo feel angry, unsuppressed anger!
Truman continued to work the next day, but this time he felt more and more abnormalities in his life, and even his every move was broadcasting live on the radio, as if someone was monitoring him. So Truman began to try to break the rules and see what would happen.
Truman's abnormal behavior made the entire program team mess up, and he even saw the crew's office behind the so-called bank building elevator. The entire crew was exposed in front of Truman. Although Truman was taken away when he left to avoid further exposure of the secret, Truman really felt unusual.
With more and more abnormalities in life, Truman decided to start fighting back. He followed him, Meryl, trying to figure out whether Meryl was a real nurse, more of whom was trying to figure out the ubiquitous abnormalities in his life, but at the last moment, he was stopped by the hospital security guards. Then, Truman finally decided to take a decisive step: he was going to Fiji! He was leaving Paradise Island!
But it seemed that the whole world was against him, and the fastest air ticket was one month later. He then decided to take the bus to Chicago, but the bus broke down and today's flight was stopped.
Looking at Truman sitting in a daze and stubbornly unwilling to leave, Leonardo felt a little sad inexplicably.
Then, Truman returned home and sat in his car, quietly looking at the ordinary street in front of him. He noticed that there was a group of people at the door of his house that were always in circles, and they would appear in front of him again every once in a while, as if they were deliberately arranged, and it was better like his boring life day after day.
Meryl got into the car and came to dissuade Truman, but Meryl didn't care about Truman's true thoughts at all. She was just whitewashing the peace and dealing with Truman with hypocritical politeness, which made Truman no longer able to bear it. He locked the car door and said, "We'll set off today." Then Truman stepped on the accelerator!
Truman drove the car to leave Paradise Island, but found that it seemed as if some of them were arranged. The streets leaving the island were completely jammed and could not move even a little. Leonardo couldn't help but start to get nervous. Adrenaline made him dry mouth, as if he was sitting in Truman's car at this time, hoping that Truman could actually drive away from this cage-like island in an unprecedented way.
Suddenly, Truman decided to give up, as if he had been persuaded by Meryl, and his patience was eroded by the traffic jam in front of him. He decided to go home, which made Meryl breathe a sigh of disappointment, but the audience in the cinema sighed. Truman drove his car back to the circular circle and began to circle around the circle, which scared Meryl, "Why don't you turn?"
Truman stared wide and said frantically, "I changed my mind again! New Orleans is a carnival now, wow!" Truman seemed to be in a state of madness, laughed loudly, then drove the car quickly around the island. Looking at Meryl's surprised expression, Truman seemed to have succeeded, stepped on the accelerator and walked to the road out of the island again.
