543 The Hammer of Bavaria 1

The bearded man once said that artillery is the king of war. This was worth discussing during the Cold War. It was more than half of the time in the second battle, but in the first land war, it was completely correct! Why was the German army strong? Isn’t it because of more than a dozen artillery companies in a division? The army level can also obtain support from 210mm heavy howitzers and K16 long-range artillery. Such field artillery can be said to be the world’s first-class. Why couldn’t the Germans fight in the later period? Isn’t it because the quantity and quality of artillery of the French and British people increased? Why were the Russians cowards? Isn’t it because the artillery is not good? What about Austro-Hungary? This is a man-made disaster that is more than a natural disaster, so I won’t talk about him...

Therefore, in terms of investment, Ruprecht's investment in artillery is greater than that of armored units, because artillery is the decisive force on the battlefield of Battle 1, and the armored forces' breakthrough and encirclement effect in Battle 1 is relatively limited. Because during Battle 2, German armored troops can quickly advance hundreds of kilometers, but this plane is not good. The lack of armored units' technology is one aspect, and not enough motorized infantry to follow the breakthrough is another aspect. If the former can be used properly, if the latter establishes large-scale motorcycle army in large quantities, the vehicle production capacity and the prince's purse will not be enough.

It is not realistic and economical to build a large and complete artillery unit with Bavaria's national strength. Is the train cannon good? It's good, but this thing is too expensive, and logistics maintenance and maneuvering are also very troublesome. As the name suggests, train cannons and train cannons operate this cannon is not only artillery, but also a large number of railway soldiers. Not to mention anything else, when you need to circumferential shooting, you need to lay a circular railway. If you want to advance, you also need to lay a narrow-gauge railway. There are not so many railway soldiers in Bavaria to serve these things.

And it is really unnecessary, because there are not so many solid bunkers and long-range artillery on the Eastern Front that you need to use train guns to deal with them. Even if there is one, just get the Austro-Hungarian Empire equipment. The Bavarian Legion, which mainly uses mobile combat, does not need equipment. And if it really doesn't work, you can ask Prussia for...

The prince had decided as early as the beginning of the plan that the maximum weight of Bavarian artillery equipment should not exceed the limit of the largest tracked turret. What is the maximum weight limit of the tracked turret during the 1st War? The prince estimated that more than 30 tons would be enough. After all, the British over-top tracked tanks MK had this weight, and they were still crossing trenches and obstacles in front of the battlefield. It would not take such a hard time to carry long-range artillery vehicles, and it was still ten kilometers away from the front line. Being able to bring the cannons over is victory!

If you want to have a self-propelled artillery, then we have to mention that the GPF self-propelled artillery modified by the French with the 194mm naval cannon. The power of this self-propelled artillery is not because of its 194mm naval cannon. This cannon is actually average in performance, and can shoot a 78.83kg shell at an initial speed of 725 meters per second, with a maximum range of just over 20 kilometers. What is really powerful is that this cannon is self-propelled. Under the bearing of a huge tracked terrain, the total combat weight of this cannon reaches 29.6 tons! However, under the traction of a 120-horsepower engine, this cannon can maneuver at a speed of 8 to 10 kilometers per hour. Although the speed is not fast, fortunately, the terrain has a strong ability to pass through. It can keep up with the maneuvering speed of tanks in this plane. Walking 8 kilometers per hour. No division-level unit in any country can have this speed.

Of course, it is impossible for all artillery to be used in crawler-type turfs, because crawler-type turfs are complicated after all, production is troublesome, and tanks can also grab production capacity. Therefore, most of the self-propelled artillery used in crawler-type turfs advance with armored troops and are used to provide direct firepower support. The artillery of the large regiment, such as the infantry division, and the artillery belonging to the army is carried by tractors, cars and horses. Of course, this is a maneuvering distance from the station to the battlefield.

In the end, the prince's composition of German heavy artillery was set in this way. The 150mm howitzer will serve as the first-level firepower backbone of the division. The weight of howitzer of this level is generally around 3 tons. The range is about 10km, and the weight of the shell is about 42 to 50kg. It can be used with the current 1.5-ton truck or directly placed on a 3-ton truck as a truck cannon.

Generally speaking, at the beginning of the war, a division of the Germans had 9 77mm rapid-fire gun companies, 3 105mm light howitzer companies and 2 150mm heavy howitzer companies. This was the limit of the Mule and Horse Cultivation Division. When it arrived in time for the second battle, it would not exceed this level. (The division was larger than the German Division.)

However, in the Bavarian army, because the number of horses, horses, grooms and food consumption were greatly reduced, the number of horsepower available was on the rise, so there were more large-caliber artillery guns, and the maneuverability of the artillery was stronger!

Considering that there are almost no need to touch tanks on the Eastern Front except armored vehicles, even if they encounter armored vehicles, they can be done with 50 machine guns. Considering that Bavaria's 77mm-level artillery has been packaged to Russia, the prince formulated an idea. Starting from 1904, all the Bavarian division-level supporting artillery units will stop equipping 77mm rapid-fire guns. One division's 14 artillery companies are all 105mm howitzers and 150mm heavy howitzers!

Among the 14th Company, 10 companies are equipped with 105mm light howitzers, and 4 companies are 150mm heavy howitzers. In principle, the artillery of all infantry divisions is towed artillery, and the part of the fast motor division titled will mix and match a certain amount of truck cannons. However, what the prince did not expect was that this plan was rarely boycotted by the Bavarian military. Of course, this is a later story, so I won't mention it for now.

The artillery at the first level of the army consists of 210mm heavy howitzers and 150mm cannons. The m10 type 210mm howitzers and m16 type 210mm howitzers played a huge role in the early stages of the war, but in fact, the performance of this artillery is really average, the projection volume is indeed large, and a shell weighs 110kg, but the range is too close. The range of the m16 type cannon is 11 kilometers, and the range of the m10 type cannon is only 9,400 meters!

Although the Russians did not have any super long-range heavy artillery, there were still some large-caliber guns with a long range. For example, the m1910 107mm heavy artillery, with a barrel length of 2.9 meters and an elevation angle of only 37 degrees, but it still has a range of 12.5 km, which is enough to suppress the 210mm heavy howitzer.
